Wow, thanks! It’s been a’lot of work with these videos but it’s always fun making them. Yeah Burning Man has always been one of my favorites. The chorus especially, as you pointed out.

The original lineup was a massive influence on me no doubt about it.

Yeah he contributed a lot to 3EB. Still can’t believe I have this particular Mirage as it was always my favorite. I got lucky getting ahold of another one his last year and then somehow got lucky again with this one a few months later. I play them all the time and they are my workhorse instruments.

Thank you! That means a lot :) This song dates back to 95’ if I remember correctly. I spoke to original bassist Arion Salazar on Instagram about it last year and he gave me a few details. Yeah these obscure songs are definitely tricky to figure out in some places. I think the most important thing is to always do your research on a song, album, etc because sometimes it’s easy to second guess yourself. I’m very humbled by the response the channel has received. I never thought it would gain this much attention but I’m very thankful for it and hopefully I can branch out into some other cool stuff for the future. Appreciate you tuning in!

Stephan knows the amazing guitarist Kevin is so ... If it wasn't their divergence and Stephan probably would say that Kevin is the best guitar player for him, followed by Kryz

@@pqmtlmYeah it was the fight for power that ultimately divided them. Kevin is beyond gifted and Stephan knows that. Given all the legal stuff that’s occurred between them I suppose he has to very careful about what he says because of the backlash he might receive. I think the most unprofessional part of the whole story however is how Kevin was ditched the night after his last performance with them rather than just sitting down with the guys and talking it out.

So true. Initially Stephen just referred to him as "the guitarist," when speaking about songs from their first album. He seems to avoid Kevin's part of the process for whatever reason. But I like to believe these songs speak for themselves. Imo, Kevin and Stephen creating together was truly magical, even if we only got those 2 albums. They are both loaded with lyrical and guitar gems. In particular, the end of The Background has stuck with me for all these years.

I’ll be in Charlotte seeing the current 3eb tomorrow. Charlotte is like a second home to me, so I couldn’t pass and this is the third time seeing them :) Thanks again for tuning in!

@BDKelso2000 I'm curious to know your opinion on Kryz guitar skills. I know Kevin C is a killer guitar player and helped write the first 2 albums music. I feel like Kryz doesn't get any love from the guitar community. He's been with the band now longer then Kevin & Tony combined. The solo he does on "Say It" at the end is one of the greatest solos I've heard in a long time. I've been to more then 50 3eb shows and met them a half dozen times. Enjoy the show man. The set list has been pretty cool this tour. I think the only song they didn't play this tour that they usually always play is God Of Wine. Make sure you watch Kryz when he solos. I think you'll find that he's a really underrated guitar player. 🎸

⁠@@kdwoo1I think Kryz is a very gifted player and it’s shame he’s been dissed because of the comparisons to Kevin and Tony. One thing I do find refreshing about his playing is how daring he is to improvise all throughout a set. A lot of guitarists get stuck in the habit of playing everything the same and while that’s not a bad thing, it’s nice to see someone change it up a bit. That said, most people critique him over the fact he plays Kevin and Tony songs different than how they recorded them. It’s true, he does change them up but he does so in a way that works in my opinion. I remember when Tony was in 3eb, a lot of people gave him crap for not being Kevin and for playing too heavy on their songs and now they appreciate TF more. It’s the same thing with Kryz. Great player, just not given the respect because he came after two previous others who left their mark in 3eb. This is actually my third time seeing them, so it will be interesting. I always wanted to see the OG lineup when I was a kid but I’m 24 and was born a couple of weeks after Kevin left haha. At least we got XEB for a few years.

Yeah that’s the idea! It’s a wild tuning that Tony came up with and this is the only time it’s been used in a song. Let me know if you need any pointers and I can help out :)

Thanks man! Those summaries take a while to put together but I’m glad they are a good read for you guys. I’m fortunate to have had access to all of that info and I know it makes the videos more interesting. Yeah Darwin has so many classic 3eb elements. I wish Kevin would have been able to do it live before his departure but it is what it is. Blue was a great follow up to their debut.

Thanks! Yes I have but not in one at the moment. I’ve written a lot of riffs that I’m hoping to put on a recording someday, I just need the missing pieces. Hopefully that will be sooner rather than later. My goal is to hopefully have a group together by the time I’m 29-30 which isn’t far away. I’m 24 now.

Woah! That’s awesome man! I’ve been practicing the riff all of this week. Cover is coming very soon but I’m working out the small details in the song. I’m tuned to C# G# C# F# B E which is a half step lower than E A D G C F, the original tuning of the song. The original recording makes it seem slightly flat but it’s slowed down on tape which alters the pitch.

@@BDKelso2000 Fantastic to hear, I know you will nail it. I tune to DADGCF to play the song, I know it’s not what Kevin has said in interviews about the song/tuning. But I feel it is just much easier to play like that. Also the bridge riff section is kinda just like playing the God of wine bridge. Can’t wait to see your rendition of it in full!
