This man was something out of this world, he was an space angel although I never met him I miss him like and old friend. Klaus Nomi made the world a better place through his songs.
A truly amazing voice! What a range. What amazing opera. Even opera haters will enjoy this beautiful sounds he made. So sad how he died, typical in the early days of AIDS. Long live Klaus Nomi through his songs.
Beautiful man with a beautiful soul, whose music and face expressions make me happy again after crying because of my dad's death, what happened week ago.
Wish he was loved and respected as deserved so much at the end when he more needed ! his voice and performances are unique!! He offered us quality intelligence and sensibility!
Paix a ton ame klaus.
i think Klaus's strength came with singing such beautiful classical pieces such as this. And also using this voice on certain new wave tracks back then; I think had he done that, and had lived, he would have stayed somewhat successful and made a decent living.
This is from his first posthumous album "Encore". I think "encore" is French for "again". I know "Der Nussbaum" is German for "The Nut Tree". It's also too touching for words. And did I mention that the Nomi logo is cool?
@ pogomole ,This song Robert Schumann reclaims for himself, but it´s written by his wife Clara who was in the 19th century one of the famost pianist. But ,no question, a great song.
Klaus Nomi - A truly great Singer, for his vision and bravery. I attended some of his concerts in his day. But his voice does not lend itself to the german lied. Even today I can only think of Philippe Jarrousky who could dare to enter this genre as an haute contre male. Not Nomis best Performance. Patrick B. Ludwig
+Patrick B. Ludwig I do think his voice lends itself to German modernism as espoused by Bauhaus and later Kraftwerk and I do think that is what is going on here. He espouses that doctrine beauifully
+anthony mcnally, I agree, Klaus Nomi's voice does lend itself to German Modernism - in the sense you are using the term. What I am saying is, that his voice does not readily lend itself to the German Kunstlied, particularly in the Romantic and later romantic period - represented by Schumann here. Within "classical music" - and remember, Nomi was a fully trained classical singer - you will find voices more adapted to Oratoria, or perhaps Opera and then the typical Liedsänger. Say Dietrich Fischer Dieskau. Nomi has a dramatic timbre and if you compare his performance of "The cold Song" originally written for Basso by Purcell, you will see what I mean. The timbres of Andreas Scholl or particularly Philippe Jarrousky are more lyrical. In classical Music, Klaus Nomi, a genius as a singer, was a pioneer of Countertenor singing and dared the crossover to " popular music". In both directions, by the way. I cannot imagine a "cold song" without the icy cold and brittleness of Nomi. Thank you for reopening an interesting Discussion on one of my favourite performers. Patrick B. Ludwig
The 1st time I heard Klaus's voice I I loved him. Then I learned how kind he was and love him even more. What a beautiful soul
When I read comments about this wonderful man I am reminded how wonderful people can be
I cried , this is lovely , just as Klaus , a lovely beautiful soul .

Mir geht es ähnlich
So empfinde ich es auch. Klaus Nomi war so besonders.

“Nomi Style”- irreplaceable
This man was something out of this world, he was an space angel although I never met him I miss him like and old friend.
Klaus Nomi made the world a better place through his songs.
Many people sing with their voice. Few sing with their heart.
This song moves me in ways I never could imagine! RIP, Klaus.
A truly amazing voice! What a range. What amazing opera. Even opera haters will enjoy this beautiful sounds he made. So sad how he died, typical in the early days of AIDS. Long live Klaus Nomi through his songs.
Yes, his voice brought me to Baroque music, and I keep listening to him again and again.
Beautiful man with a beautiful soul, whose music and face expressions make me happy again after crying because of my dad's death, what happened week ago.
This song gives me a peaceful feeling inside. It's one of his first posthumous efforts, and it reminds me that Klaus Nomi is at peace.
So beautiful Klaus!!! Thank you!!!
Wish he was loved and respected as deserved so much at the end when he more needed ! his voice and performances are unique!! He offered us quality intelligence and sensibility!
He was precious!!
Such a sweet song. Almost brings me to tears.
Paix a ton ame klaus.
Amazing voice and vocal technique.
Gone too soon. his death was too cruel, unfair. Too good for this fucking world. God bless you Klaus wherever you are.
I truly enjoyed this song, that was opera sung like no one else could
Whenever I listen to this song, I get a haunting but peaceful feeling, and it reminds me that Klaus Nomi is at peace.
Actually, it's not opera; it's a German lied, Schumann.
What a deeply touching song by the late Klaus Nomi. I love it!
Just amazing and marvolous👌🎼
Thank you so much for putting it on TH-cam 🙏
IMPRESIONANTE, BRILLANTE, EXCEPCIONAL., EXTRAORDINARIO, GENIAL

pure beauty, it's magical
Yes, and it gives me a peaceful feeling. And it keeps me aware that Klaus Nomi is at peace and no longer suffering.
One of my favorite Schumann songs
Very touching. Almost brings a tear to your eye.
I've been seeing a lot of comments like these under his video's. LETS ALL START DRESSING LIKE NOMI!
The song is by Robert Schumann, composed in the 19th century. Klaus had good taste in covers, if not clothing. (I kid!)
No one can sing like Klaus Nomi, even if the world would last a million years.
A natural, of the same kind as the Swedish tenor Jussi Björling was.
Well said. Klaus was a one-off.
Nimo - reminds me of Klaus❤
Amazing. Only just discovered him.
I had to hear him sing this am from heaven, miss Nomi so much.
Art at his summit what a great artist Was Klaus Nomi!
Gone too soon. Such a sweet soul ❤️
so beautiful
So very beautiful
So touching and powerful!
So heart-warming.
you know, there´s still some oldscool punk/goth enclaves that manage to come quite close to this original style...
it´s inspiring to see them.

This song is fantastic!
lots of pictures i have not seen before :-D best slideshow of him ive seen on youtube
R.I.P. Klaus Nomi.
Of many beatific songs by the late Robert Schumann -1810-1856 Words by the late poet Julius Mosen
Beautiful
God bless our musical spaceman.
❤😢 Beautiful voice, klaus Nomi didn’t stay here long enough, should have left more.
He's like a spaceman
Real talent…
2:50 (!) Danke.
Klaus Nomi's birthday is on the way. I wonder if TH-cam will have any newly uploaded clips of Klaus?! If so, I really look forward to seeing them.
"Der Nussbaum" is German for "The Nut Tree".

But ,no question, a great song.
AMAZING
Morrissey brought me here, one of his favourite songs apparently 🤨
This is truly spectacular. God.
Único !!!
Esta canción es mi himno de victoria
Ausnahmetalent. Viel zu früh gestorben. RIP Klaus Nomi
you can see one of his Kaposi's sarcoma spots on the back of his hand at 2:24. :( Poor guy.
He transposes Duftig, Luftig, in the first verse. Wonder if that was deliberate?
Dear Klaus….taken far far too soon ❤
2:09 my favorite image
Du talent, rien que du talent.
Moz loves this.
:54. Man Parrish on the left?
INFINITA TRISTEZA
@pogomole We should all dress like him in the 21st century...if for no other reason than giving props to Nomi...nuff said....

I Feel sorry for opera haters, they really don't know true beauty. The Tenn girl.
I love opera, especially Händel,
and countertenors, that's why
I have a problem with Klaus N.
