after doing the Before You Buy video I just kinda wanted to pop off off-the-cuff over here. This is like one of those weird games that you get from Blockbuster that you knew wasn't perfect but didn't really care. consider playing it at one point if you get what I meant in this video

Im just gonna say it already. We need more good vampire games. Legacy of Kain series I'm talking about you. Remember Bloodrayne back in the day? Oh man. When we gonna get Vampire Bloodlines 2? Still waiting.
As I get older, these are the type of games I enjoy the most. Just simple, straight forward, and fun. The thing I want after work is to turn my brain off and have fun. Glad these games are still being made.

My thoughts exactly. I don't have time to finish most games, or the patience for all the grinding and daily objectives and stuff, I just want a dense, over-the-top use of my free time

This game sold me simply on the fact that you're a cowboy who fights vampires. That concept alone just sounds like 10 kinds of awesome. Got my pre-order in, ready to play tomorrow

I've been looking forward to this game so much. It reminds me a bit of Remnant, which owned my life for an entire month.
@Worst Case Scenario Is it "difficult" (and I say it with quotes because difficulty is relative) like Remnants?
Man Remnant was underrated, had so much fun with my friend, it's coop was perfect. Had over 70 hours in it and the best part is that we got it for free from egs. Wish more games, especially souls games implement their coop system, so seamless and fun.
When this game was first revealed a while back I remember thinking it reminded me of remnant. Damn I almost forgot how awesome that game was.

@@jerryfuquaii5790 Could be for some games, though looking at the 1982 Sears catalog, they were mostly 19 to 27, with a few as high as 37. Of course in modern dollars that's probably 50 to 70.
I love me a game that doesn’t waste my time and gets straight to the point. I typically cannot spend 40 hours on a narrative game like God of War, I just hop on on weekends for a few hours and this is perfect for that

I understand the kind of game and era for gaming you are describing and that is exactly what I miss. I miss going to a GameStop, finding something weird and interesting I've never heard of before, and it becoming a favorite.

As someone who spent his teenage years during the Xbox 360 and PS3 era and had a blast with Gears of War, Resistance and RE 5, this game seems exactly what I need. Thanks for the video, Jake!
Wild Wild West will forever be a gem from my childhood, the fact that this game gave you the same vibes is comforting to be honest. Its the rough edges that give things their charm, and though it may not blow you away maybe when you randomly see the game case months or years down the line it'll bring a smile to your face. If something does that for you, it's gold.
I knew the moment I saw the trailer for this game, that I had a sense of, "Is this a video-game-ass video game?!" and I was so relieved to see the gameplay look like what you described of the old 360 era of games. It may not have the exploration of Darksiders (inspired by Legend of Zelda), but it definitely had the combat of the good hack n slash games like God of War/Dante's Inferno, and I'm all for it in this day in age.
Damn Darksiders is so much better than Zelda too. One of the best games on the 360 :)

Evil West has exceeded all my expectations so far. I've been having a *blast* with it. The combat has been tons of fun and I love the variety of equipment you get.
This seems like something I'll really enjoy once it goes on a decent sale

Hey Jake been watching a lot more of your channel lately and just wanted to say how comforting and high quality your videos are. Been feeling crappy the last few days but your videos have helped. And yes we need more games like this, reminds me of when my dad got me and my brothers our first Xbox 360 and it came with AC 2 and darksiders

I am a new gen player... Never played such games in the past like you did.. But I will say this IT WAS FUN!!! It felt repetitive and flawed but damm it was so much fun !!! I would love to play more such games in the future
Ps2 / early Ps3 era gamers need more games like this..15 - 20 hrs gameplay with resonable storyline.
I use to love games like this, I was worried with all the massive open world and open level games I'd find it hard to enjoy but I was still excited. The combat is so much fun once you can do it quick and get a flow going. It was everything I was hoping it'd be and can't ask for more than that. My friend told me it was trash, the graphics and combat were trash, and I didn't let that stop me and I'm glad. I don't see what he saw.
This was an easy sell for me. Exactly what I expected and wanted. Thanks for bringing info on the game. Love the channel
Reminds me of the time when games were fun and felt good to play and not just filled with endless grinding and side quests.

I only got super hardcore into gaming in 2016 but had an SNES/N64 when I was a kid and you describing this game as just a simple adventure game that came out in between AAA/IP stuff made me nostalgic for a time I never experienced which has never happened before??? I only ever played/remember the big titles when I was younger because we knew they would be solid and worth the money in a day and age when you really had no idea if it anything would be good or not so we never risked it on those sorta games. Suffice to say, you sold me on this one and once I've got some more backlog out of the way I'll be picking this one up :)
Sometimes, it's fun to just mash your way through a game. This game was simple and satisfying. Lots of fun

Recentlyish went thru bulletstorm again and man, these kinda games really are just good ol fun pallet cleaners in the modern gaming landscape. Hope this style never dies
This is definitley my style of game from an era I cherish, and looks like they can do alot with this if they get a sequel. I dont know why, but I feel like these devs could also make a great transformers game a la war for cybertron.

Dude, the clips shown make it look like a God of war type game, punching close enemies, shooting far enemies with ranged attacks... Sick. GoW fights are awesome
It feels as if Focus Entertainment is doing what I miss in the movie industry: Funding original ideas in the mid-budget range.
I love games like this. Especially in the last few years where i find myself a bit more time-poor to commit the same amount of hours i once used to put into games, after a hard days work, sometimes you just need a game like this that doesnt require much brain power or quest grinding. Evil West feels super self aware and isnt ashamed of it.
I enjoyed every single moment of this game. It definitely took me back.
These past few months, I've been playing so many games from the 360 era, some of them not that polished, but they bring me joy. Just simple, pure fun. Without any kind of bullshit that we see a lot these days in video games. Bayonetta, Vanquish, Binary Domain, DMC 4, Saints Row 3 and 4, Xmen Origins: Wolverine and BulletStorm to name a few. I'll definitely buy this game. For old time's sake.
Gun, Darkwatch, Call of Juarez are games that may not have the critical acclaim; however, hold a special place in my heart.
Reminded me of Shadows of the Damned. Straight-up gunning n' running with cool characters. No filler. Looks great.

Wild Wild West is one of my favorite bad movies, upon further rewatches I get it, but I was initially genuinely surprised how poorly recieved it was

Didn't get God of War Ragnarok because as much as I look forward to play it , it's a modern game that wants to be both video game and movie and honestly, I think Im very close to bruning out on video games
Pre-ordered Evil West because it's a game that serves as a reminder to the AAA studios that games can still be mindless fun and so far from the videos and the gameranx video, I think it's safe to say it'll cure my burnt out feeling, thank Wild Flying Hog.

Neon White gave me these “embracing the stupidity” vibes. Especially with the story. But at the same time, the gameplay feels like a fantastic PS2 game.
I wanted Evil West as soon as i seen it. It just finished downloading onto my ps4 and i played for about an hour. I absolutely love the game. It's easy to get the hang of and is very fun to play. I worry about buying games that are too hard for me and then get put on the shelf and never played again but this game so far is very playable not really easy but definitely playable for a casual gamer or someone who is not good at video games. The controls are good and the game looks good except for the color saturation but i got use to that pretty quickly. I just wanted to share my 2cents as a new player to evil west and show some support for it. I'm enjoying it thoroughly and also enjoyed this video. Ty for the video and i believe i share the same admiration you do for evil west. I hope to see more games like this in the future
I bought this game for just this reason. A throwback to a bygone era. Haven't got to dive in yet, because of work. Tonight I will. Appreciate all the time you've dedicated to this. I think I'll dig it for the same reasons you do.
I definitely am a Wild Wild West fan; my brother and I used to watch it a lot when we were younger.
Am playing this at the moment and I think is the best old school arcade beat em up and old school arcade shooter mashup.

@@theking-ss no they sold all their western operations to embracer group except just cause and outriders IP. Embracer will soon own everything else as far as square enix Europe.

This game really looks like the stuff I use to play when I was a teen and I love how it looks because it feels familiar and Im actually looking for games like that something to escape the "it has to be real and serious" kind of game. I will definitely get that game when I have the chance.
I miss games like this. This year is full of games that twist your brain like Immortality, Pentiment, even Elden ring and God of War. Sometimes it’s good to just get a good dumb fun ten hour video game ass video game that I don’t need to turn my brain on for every cutscene or story bit.

Wild wild west was dope back in the day. I used to watch it with my brother all the time. I saw the evil West trailer and got hella excited and now I'm just as excited if not more. This era of games was good times, rose glasses maybe but either way I'm getting this for sure. Love what you do my guy.
I'm so glad this game came to game pass on xbox one finally this week, had my eyes on it for a while and I'm having so much fun being able to play it, the combat is amazing and on the hardest difficulty its a really fun challenge to sink your teeth into. Ever since i've platinumed God of War 2018 and God of War Ragnarok both on Give Me God of War difficulty, Evil West is the game i've been looking for. Also Jake i am broken like you, back in high school me and my best friend got obsessed with the Wild Wild West through Just Dance on the Wii, we learnt the entire dance and all the lyrics off by heart. Good times

Also, Wild Wild West was a great 60s show...long before the ridiculous movie where Jon Peters finally got the giant spider he pitched to like 4 other movies, (including the Nicolas Cage-lead Superman film, that never happened).
That said, I do enjoy watching the movie, for shits & giggles, every few years, or so.
Pretty Sure, this game was derived from the DAMNATION mod for UNREAL TOURNAMENT 2K4 AND UT3. This mod led to the game DAMNATION in 2009, for reference. We need more in this Spaghetti Western Genre.

I forget what live event Evil West was revealed in, but I remember the rest of the event being ONLY multiplayer FPSs and zombie shooters. When I saw Evil West's trailer, I had that exact moment of "OOOOOH YEAAAAAAAH"

I really loved Hard Reset when it came out on PC. These guys know how to make games.
Oh man just had to comment, Wild Wild West was my first intro to the steampunk vibe and I loved it! For me it was before I had access to Internet and reviews so I had no idea what critics thought of it, only much later on did I learn of the bad critic and audience scores. Plus this game looks like something I can play for 15 mins between work and other chores, which is all adult me can spare nowadays. No binge gaming anymore 😅

I saw Wild Wild West in theaters and loved it, and so did my dad and my step-dad. In fact I'm pretty sure I saw it wit both of them, so twice in theaters. That movie was great.
Hahaha, awesome and sincere video. Yes to the Xbox360 feel of the game, that’s what I felt when I saw the trailer and I’m happy to hear it is exactly that. I also did enjoy Wild Wild West, no sunglasses though. Overall, we need more of those type of games for sure, and definitely you’re spot on with calling out those cynical must have certain elements kind of games (pretty much all triple A games nowadays) , let’s make games fun again! 🎉
