      Blondie in China you mention that the Great Wall build or restored 4 or 5 hundreds years ago? Do you have scientific evidence to support your claim if you do have give me the information, then you said that the Great Wall is a summitry and many people lost there life building it and according to the picture that you draw it they where slave do you have scientific evidence to support your claim?

    • @theobserver8881
      @theobserver8881 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Kwa Byr the Great Wall itself is not a scientific theory or scientific phenomenon, demanding scientific evidence to prove the claims are retarded. It is a historical artifact, you can only verify those claims in historic archives.

    This is a common misconception that the great wall was breached by invasions. The two that Amy talked about were only partially true. The Mongols were able to expand so far to the west before conquering China that they took over Tibet and invaded from the southwest as well. So really, the Mongols were able to surround China. The southern song dynasty lost control over the great wall over a century ago, to the Liao and Jin dynasties, which were defeated by the Mongols. So long story short, it's complicated.
    The invasion of the Manchus was only successful because of two reasons. One is that a peasant rebellion had already plunged most of China into chaos before they attacked. And two, a general (Wu Sangui) in charge of the northeastern section of the wall opened the gates to the Manchus and betrayed his country (legend has it that it was for a women).

    Fun fact: The Ming general guarding the great wall actually switched side and let the Qing forces in. So the wall is only as effective as the government of the day.

    • @BlondieinChina
      @BlondieinChina  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That’s an awesome fact!! And crazy how that happened. Such a big long wall that took so long to build and the government will just let people in willingly. Wow!

      This is correct! The Ming government already collapsed by a rebelling group before Qing even got in, then the rebelling group headed by Li Zicheng treated the Ming general's family badly back in Beijing. The general said to himself, what the heck! Let the Qing in then :-) The general was later killed by Qing anyway.

    Love your vids. Such energy.
    Misconception about the Great Wall...it's not purely just a barrier...
    It is an early warning system. Signals from the tower determine where threats are coming from.
    As a trip wire over so many centuries, it hasn't been breached that many times so pound for pound, its been rather effective. But the main purpose is to send rapid signals to the the capital to pin point where the attack is coming in from and of course to act as a trip wire.
    Its a great scenic track now. Beautiful in its own way, particularly some of the more remote and unrestored parts.

    The Great Wall is not impenetrable, so it is understandable that at times that it failed at its purpose. Even the great Genghis Khan did not face the Song Dynasty itself. Khan and Song were in a brief alliance to eliminate a common enemy, the Jin Dynasty, also established by another nomadic tribe. The thing is the Song Dynasty was not in control of the Sixteen Prefectures, rendering it vulnerable to northern invasions to begin with.

Probably going there with some experienced hikers or making detailed plan in advance. Going there alone with unpreparation is kina dangerous. Ive never been to those unrestored Great Wall but I do remember hearing injuries of hikers happening there from TV news.

    #8 and 9 yes for sure the great wall is going away due to many reasons, but if I remember correctly the sections you showed in Gansu Province were actually one of the earliest built sections of it. They were built in Qin/ Han dynasties and are about 2000 years old. This actually shows how long-lasting they are.
    Also despite being a tourist site now, the wall actually played an important role in holding off the invaders in WWII. So it is not that long since it has retired.
