    Just FYI, the reason so many people don't have the achievement for leaving the vault in Fallout 4 is because running mods disables achievements, so they're probably people who never played without mods installed.

      That's why I use the mod that enables achievements again. 😄But that is a fair point. I never play any Bethesda game without mods, yet they always want to disable achievements for doing so.

    On the Slytherin thing, based mainly on my brother’s choice and a tiny bit of my own opinion, it’s because Slytherin has neat colors and the absolute coolest common house. Nothing to do with mischief, they just want the underwater lake dorm and green clothes.

    • @Alloveck
      @Alloveck 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Beat me to it. I could go on and on about individual interpretations of what Slytherin "truly" stands for and how they're not actually fundamentally evil and such at all, but you don't even have to go that far. Slytherin green looks sooooo much better than Gryffindor colors. For some, (and that includes me,) that alone is enough to make the decision already. I just REALLY don't like Gryffindor colors. And Hufflepuff colors are even worse!

      I think another significant factor to consider is that people doing a "good guy" play through will be split up between 3 houses, while pretty much anyone doing a "bad guy" play through will choose Slytherin.

    • @drewrobinson5562
      @drewrobinson5562 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It didn't help that jkr herself misrepresented the houses always. Specially since hermine is ravenclaw and dracos dense lackeys are, surprisingly, griffendor. And even then the houses overlap with each other using synonyms regardless

    • @jacobfife7273
      @jacobfife7273 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Another thing is that the main story is closely related to the Slytherin house and one of the best side quests comes from a Slytherin. I think people may also make one for an evil/bad guy playthrough (I created a Mean Girl alt for example).

    Having watched a lot of young'uns play Green Hill Zone in Sonic over the last few years; I can tell you that it's because they cannot manage the spin dash & the concept of momentum. There are achievements for just starting certain games. As in, literally installing them and actually running them. Achievements that are super early in any game are really statistics of people who bought the game and never bothered to install/run the game. So you have to take final boss completion percentages and subtract the first achievement percentage difference to 100% to get the true game completion rate.

  • @adamlantos2319

    The Slytherin trophy might be explained by the fact that "good" playthroughs have 3 choices and the "evil" one has one (Slytherin). Moreover, I'd imagine that since the majority joined any of the 3 good schools, on a 2nd playthrough many players might want a totally different experience, opting for Slytherin.

    For any achievements that track the percentage of people who get past the early/first level, I'm one of those responsible for it being so low. I buy games often when they're on sale and I always "test" them for a few minutes once they're installed (if you're as old school as I am, you know the problems of buying game CDs that don't work lol). However, I don't always get to play those games until a few years later because of my backlog. My understanding is that once you run the game, you're part of the pool of total number of players being tracked for achievement completion? So yeah, guilty as charged. 😅😅

      God of War and Ghosts of Tsushima were both the latter for me. One I was looking for a cheesy high fantasy type of game and tried God of War and realised within 5 minutes it wasn't for me. Thing with FIFA is that it's important to remember that it essentially plays off a tribalistic bias in the player base - i.e. a team we support in real life, so it's not exactly uncommon that the percentage of players playing a womens international match will be low. Most of us don't have an emotional investment in the womens game, we're not really super aware of the womens game in general, so less likely to pick it as a secondary option. At the risk of sounding slightly Joey Barton, I'm actually surprised it's as high as it is, given that even with the girls playing the game the reality is if you asked them the overwhelming majority will support a mens team, I'm all for the ladies being in the game, but it doesn't mean I'm going to randomly pick one to play unless I'm specifically out to pop that achievement. (Incidentally, making it an achievement actually degrades the figure as many will have popped it purely for the achievement rather than any natural desire to play a women's international)

On Steam, a game can check to see which of it's achievements have been awarded and if one that should have been isn't showing up, can resend the achievement to Steam. It's a game where everything thing can and will kill you before you even find your bounty, a single shot can kill you, and cover can be shot through. When your hunter dies you lose everything, so finding the bounty and quicky leaving before ever seeing another player is the way to go. Plus, the game has a serious cheating problem😢 which almost killed it. Even now, if you look at the top players, the numbers don't add up, showing that the top 20 have more kills than is possible in the number of matches played.

    One thought is that those players that have made Gryffindor, HufflePuff, or Ravenclaw characters were more likely to try a Slytherin character on a second playthrough than they were one of the other houses.

    • @Pallysilverstar
      @Pallysilverstar 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Not to mention the story slightly changes based on which house and the location/design of the common room is different. Since being Slytherin doesn't mean you have to be a prick people could easily be making the choice based on other factors. Even a quick goggle search shows multiple sites and even reddit threads where Hufflepuff/Slytherin are considered the best to choose.

      My thoughts exactly. The first playthrough, people will play based off their house or whatever they get sorted into in the game. But then we all wanna play the bad guy the second time around.
      Then there's the trophie collects like me who played all four houses up to the Map Chamber.

      Back when the online Pottermore site existed (and it might still exist. The site was initially a sort of interactive experience for the books...and then they turned it into a gross, glorified wiki for the movies), I was sorted into Ravenclaw. I honestly expected to be sorted into Hufflepuff, lol. I think I would be a Ravenclaw who is locked out of the common room and needs someone smarter than me to get the daily riddle 😂.
      However, on a second profile, I answered the questionnaire in such a way that I knew it would land me in Slytherin and I was right. But I felt dirty and like a fake, so I barely used that account 😅. But wanting to play as the "bad guy" is quite normal with games, I figured.

Not that true devs did anything wrong… they ported the game well. It’s just what passed for tight controls and blazing speed in the 90s felt clunky by modern standards.

    I always like taking a quick deeks at From trophy lists. There's always a chunk of players that bounce off hard, but a lot of people who stick with it, stick with it to the end. It also seems like the playerbase is fairly active. Playing DS3 now, there are still plenty of phantoms around. Though I suspect the Multiplayer aspects are harder to access than they were in 2016/2017. I don't play with them too often, but I do get invaded occasionally, and had a player for my Halflight bossfight in the final DLC..

    The way I see the Hogwarts one: If you're a fan of Harry Potter (the character) and Dumbledore, then you like Gryffindor. If you're a fan of the stories and their world, despite JK's nonsense, you're probably a Ravenclaw. If you just like the idea of chilling in that world, eating the strange candies, and enjoying some butterbeer, you're likely a Hufflepuff. So, for those that get really into the whole power fantasy of having all the magical power at their fingertips (or wand tip), it's like the Hat told Harry in the books, "you can do great things in Slytherin."

Respect to those who dig that style, but it's not my idea of fun.

It seems pretty basic and easy to get into (get in match, find a bounty, kill it, extract) but has a lot of deep information systems (pretty much all the audio ques in game for example) that experienced players can utilize to take advantage of unexperienced players. Seeing the completion rate on that tells you how many people actually played the game rather than abandoning it immediately (or disabling achievements with mods).

      It is people who own and have played (ie; booted) the game.
      I have seen a lot of games have their trophy completion percentage fall following the game comes to Gamepass/ Playstation Plus where because the game is suddenly free to a whole bunch of new people they download the game, play it for 5 minutes and never play it again.
      Percentage of people on the platform would be a useless stat since the vast majority of people on a platform never play a game. The PS4 has over 100 million consoles sold. Even the top selling games on the platform only sell 20 million units (Spiderman, God of War) and it falls off hard after that (Uncharted 4, 16 mil, Witcher 3 10 mil and Ghost of Tsushima, 10 mil). If they did it by all platform owners then the highest possible completion percentage would be less than 20%. A game that sells 1 million units would never be able to have a trophy completion percentage higher than 1% even if everybody who bought the game got the platinum trophy.

I mean, i could try to play an evil Hufflepuff just for the dissonance, but I don't think I'd feel like I really belonged.

I want to say that just completing the campaign only has like a 9.27% completion rate or something like that. Pretty much 95% of the campaign centered achievements, at the least, are all "rare" achievements meaning that less than 10% of players got them. Which...is kinda surprising since it felt that the campaign for Infinite was actually a step up from Guardians.

    It's fairly easy for a polarising game like the TLoU 2 to have a higher completion stat, since most people who wouldn't have completed it never even bought it in the first place, thus the % for completion is "artificially" raised.
    For example, according to PSN Profiles, more than twice the amount of people own Marvel's Spider-Man as compared to TLoU 2, and has an equal % of completion for both games, so obviously a great deal more people completed Spider-Man as compared to The Last of Us 2. Hell, equal %s of people who completed the base story of TLoU 2 also completed completely optional side objectives in SM, meaning a great deal more people found it more fun to play the repetitive and grindy mini-games than even bother playing TLoU 2.

    1. Put out the fire in your escape pod
    2. Climb the ladder out of your escape pod
    3. Dive in the water
    So this assumes 8% of players just watched the opening cutscene then quit the game. Or they died in the fire then quit the game. Or they climbed the ladder, saw the vast expanse of ocean (which is supposed to inspire awe and exploration), then quit the game.

    Slytherin being the most popular isn't as weird as it seems. Gryfindor is kind of the basic house due to the books but it's basically just the more courageous less hardworking Hufflepuff. If you know anything about the story then it technically wasn't even Harry's house. It was by choice but that was basically just peer pressure. His son even accepts his placement into slytherin. Also of the three houses Gryfindor is the most explored, there is not much new to learn compared to the other three houses and not many people really vibe with ravenclaw or hufflepuff.

    One of the problems with Fallout 4 is once you enable the mods, even additional levels, prevents trophies from coming up in the game.
    It appears also to be a known bug in the game, as periodically you will earn a trophy, but most of the time even on a un-modded save, ypu don’t tend to get trophies!

      There is a mod that re-enables them on the nexus but most people don't bother because unlocking trophies or whatever doesn't do anything and nobody actually cares about them anyways. Hell, I've has Skyrim since 11/11/2011 and only have like 5 achievements for it.

    I know folks who get games with no internet. They'll go to a friend's house and get updates and play their games offline. Some games can be played that way

    I think I am one of the Hunt players who never killed anyone. A friend made me buy it, I thought it was also single player, I played one or two games with friends and never killed anyone, and a few games where I got annihilated immediately and quit. Seems like one of these games with a steep learning curve. And I don't have time for that.

    I'm not surprised that TLOU2 has such a high completion rate, that game is a damn masterpiece. If you ignore the (somewhat overly) vocal haters (whose arguments tend to concentrate on being homo and transphobic, along with some good old fashioned misogyny thrown in) there's nothing but greatness surrounding the game's world and storytelling.

    A very large number of people who grew up with HP didn't play that game for a particular reason. A very large number of people who ordinarily would have likely not bothered with the game DID play the game for the same reason. And I bet those people disproportionately picked slytherin for 'role-play reasons'. I think it would have been close regardless of the controversy, though.

    To get the platinum in Until Dawn you have to get a bunch of different endings, and all of those little pieces of that long video you have to collect, and in order to get all that you have to play through it 5 or 6 times at least. Each decision you make sends you down a certain path where you find those pieces, but you have to play it so many times to get sent down all the paths of the storyline to find another piece. That's very time consuming and not actually worth it.

    Hogwarts legacy - iirc you get the different house achievements/trophies for reaching the map chamber as a student from each of the houses. Those take about 4-6 hours EACH. You don't get them for just choosing your house.

    I'm not a FIFA player but that trophy does make sense to me. A lot of people are probably buying it exclusively to play as their favorite team/player or care only about multiplayer or something. I don't know what it requires to count as 'womens soccer', but if we just assume that even a single male player would disqualify it (not unreasonable) then someone who, I dunno, bought the game just to play as whatever their local soccer team is, but with Lionel Messi (the only soccer player I even know) would fail the achievement. I think it's stupid that they wouldn't put in the little amount of effort to get it, but I can at least understand why... I think.

    Keep in mind also that the PS4 version of Fallout 4 had a launch bug that wouldn't transition to the surface that took a full month to fix. 10:47

    I'm surprised you guys didn't mention the mod component when it came to Fallout. I don't know anybody that boots up a Bethesda game and start a new playthrough without installing a few mods first, which naturally disables trophies. I've played through Skyrim like three times already for example, but I only have like three achievements because I mod them at the start of every playthrough.

      I never mod any game and never will. Even if it's in the game's menu. Basically cheating because you're not good enough.

      @@chriscollins550The mods for Bethesda games are usually increasing the immersion, like better graphics, more quests etc. In many cases mods are required to patch notorious bugs. I'm quite sure that Bethesda is counting for the modders to expand their RPGs, since the vanilla versions are usually lackluster.

    Persona 5 was a very easy platinum. Little grinding and no difficulty requirements so it's actually achievable in a couple playthroughs or about 100 hours. Gears of War for example can take thousands of hours to unlock 1 achievement

    Only reason I don't have a Platinum for vanilla P5 is the hostage situation, which never happened in 2 playthroughs, or the voice line ones from Futaba. Missing just The Reaper for Royal. Only missing Bond level 99 for Strikers, and currently finishing the Compendiem in Tatica, which I'm hoping I'll hit the 500 turn one while doing so.
