Have been very pleased with all of your a6700 videos, including this one. Have the a6700 with this same Smallrig cage. Love it. Here’s a tip - I put a Peak Design capture clip plate on the side just in front of the SD card door. It can be positioned so that all doors will open. Allows the cage to act just like an L-bracket for portrait orientation - which Smallrig does not make for this camera.
Great video. I have a Smallrig cage on my 6400 and it’s amazingly good, especially with it enhancing g the grip and feel. Been thinking of upgrading to a 6700 but was wondering if there would be a Smallrig cage. Now I’ve watched your video and seen the excellent cage then I’m even more tempted to take the plunge. I had the Smallrig cage for the 6400 which included a cold shoe mount on both left and right sides, this one only provides one and is slightly at an angle which will make my monitor tilted if I decide to use that as a mount point. I saw that Tilta is coming out with one for the 6400, with one vertical and one horizontal cold shoe mounts... it'd be interesting to see how they compare..

Great review! My a6700 cage is on order. I'm kind of bummed one has to remove the hdmi clamp to use the headphone jack. I'm hoping to find a work around after my cage arrives. Any experience using the headphone jack with the hdmi clamp.
Does this cage allow the camera to be used with the iFootage travel tripod? I have both items on order but I've had to send the 1st cage back as it was missing the screw at the bottom. TIA.
Yeah the Ifootage tripod comes with an additional plate that can be mounted onto the bottom of the cage or camera, or you can use the cage directly onto the tripod head.
This is probably a silly question but I've never seen a cage in person before and have never had one previously, would I still be able to attach a PD clip to the bottom?
When positioning the caged camera for a vertical orientation, is there a built-in Arca Swiss “shoe” surface, like there is for the horizontal orientation?
No there isn't, but what you can do, that someone suggested in the comments, is mount a peak design capture clip on the side and it still always the doors and flip screen to open. Or baring that, place a small arca swiss mount in your pocket/camera bag and when you want to go vertical attach it to the side. 🙂

@@KenToney the mount on the cage is a cold shoe with no connections, you would still need to use the cameras hotshoe, but there should be room for it to fit with the cage also.

This is an option. I bought the A6700 for it's compact size, but cages greatly expand the size of the camera body. Thanks, will consider it.

Unfortunately not, the side is a NATO rail. But you can attach a small arca swiss mount to the side if you choose.
Will the cage inevitably scratch the camera ? Is there any form of cushioning to separate the metal to the camera?
