NASCAR - Pass through penalty on the 99, passing below the line trying to avoid a crash. Edwards - YOU WANA FUCKING PASS THROUGH NASCAR!!!! *Runs through pit road at full speed*...... THERE'S YOUR FUCKING PASS THROUGH ASSHOLES!!!!!! That would've been amazing!
I agree.I am not an Edwards fan, but what the fuck was that, he gets penalized for losing 3 spots? WTF. When the crew chief was like "COME DOWN PIT ROAD NOW CARL" I would have been like "FUCK YOU I WASN'T PENALIZED"
He's so damn polite "I can't talk about that on the air." "No way in Hell we're gettin' penalized. I'm not pulling in!" Poor thing. NASCAR officials are somehting else.
To me this is actually quite a similar situation, a car goes below the yellow to avoid an accident in 2 different years, 1 gets penalized and the other doesn’t, and why? I still don’t know
It just pisses me off that these days NASCAR lets guys get away with cheating as long as they don't do it again. With those "grey area" violations anyway. But no, in 1990 they just welded a piece instead of bolted a piece on the car and they docked Martin 50 points for something that didn't even effect the car's performance and ended up losing the championship by less than that margin.
I agree completely with the first penalty. He passed a car underneath the yellow line. NASCAR rules say that even if you are forced below the line, you still have to give the posistion, which he didn't. The second call is utter Bull Sh*t He was trying to avoid the wreck and actually lost about 4 positions in the process.
If I was Carl Edwards I would have just stopped in the middle of the track and let everyone else get the penalty for going under the yellow to get past me.
NASCAR has been against Jack Roush for 20 years. In my mind Mark Martin is the 1990 cup champion. NASCAR took points from Martin for one of those "grey area violations" and it cost Martin the championship and gave it to Earnhardt. They should have taken those points from Harvick and Burton for "semi-cheating" last week(and I like those guys). If one of those guys beats Martin by 25 points for the championship he should go off on NASCAR as a retirement gift to them.
The first onewas kinda iffy. Yeah it looked like Kasey forced him down but not by much. The second was BS!!! Had it been Jimmie or Dale Jr, no penalty. The third was just frustration on his part.
If you look at the replay closely, Carl had an opening on the outside to pass the cars in front of them as they were heading to pit road, so I guess the whole thing could've been avoided if he just passed them from that side. Not saying I agree with the call NASCAR made here, but you can't rely on officials to make the right call all the time.
This is probably a odd observation, but this video was uploaded the day the Shootouts took place. I find this quiet interesting since TH-cam was still a relatively unknown website. In fact, the website was still a couple days away from its first birthday; which very well could make this video one of the first on TH-cam.
Pretty clear edwards was screwed. However this was somewhat common back then. The yellow line was always an issue from like 2003( matt kenseth/dale jr issue) to at least 2009(keselowski/edwards). You wanna see someone get screwed see regan smith talladega 2008. Clear forcedown and tony wins. What a joke.
ahh, such a pity. Most guys have no problem with him--but Denny has no problem with any guys. Denny's problems lie with the girls he comes across... I think he just needs to realize that girls don't like to be used and abused. And they ESPECIALLY don't like to have that happen while the guy doing it has a girlfriend of 7+ years, and then OTHER girlfriends all over the country that he messes with... He's just a bad person. I can't think of one girl that I'm friends with that likes him.
1st one is questionable, but there was still a few feet between Edwards and Kahne. 2nd one is Edwards avoiding Johnson and Kyle Busch...What he did was RIGHT and NASCAR should have apologized. 3rd I didn't get to see and I don't remember it.
He was wrong the first time, but his biggest mistake was the comments he made on pit road in between segments. NASCAR is gonna put you in your place if you speak out. They were full of shit and they know it.
They wonder why people call NASCAR the WWE of motor sports. That doesn't even make sense and goes against the rule book. Someone at NASCAR race control should've been fired for that one.
1st deal was nothing different then what Jr. did at Dega in 2003. 2nd was the most stupid call I've seen in auto racing in recent years. You know why you can't buy or look at a NASCAR Rule Book online? It's because their always changing the rules during the race...
well do you remember the race where he ducked a whole 3/4 of his car under the yellow line for the lead at talladega? (might have been the first or second race where the rule was put into play).. but they let that slide and he ended up winning... such bullshit
Have you guys ever thought that maybe NASCAR just doesn't like Carl? Yet, there isn't much reason to like him or any other Roush driver. Kenseth is about the only one I can tolerate.
Most talented in NASCAR, but they keep showing us that NASCAR won't let the nice guy finish first....he needs a break one of these days...so far this year he's not been good-but only time will tell
a great big AMEN to that :D RIP Prof, B.P., sleep tight, ur good humour/vast racing knowledge and style of delivery made Nascar much more accessible to "open-wheel idiots" like myself and now Nascar is my number 1!
Carl's one of my favorites (48/24/99/9)and I can't wait until he wins a Championship. Let's put that old theory "nice guys finish last" out of style! Get 'em cousin Carl.
Out of all the drivers i've befriended over the years, Carl is definitely the nicest. The officials decision made them sound like they were Denny Hamlin making the call!!! (He doesn't like Carl for reasons unknown to me. He says "Carl is not respected") NASCAR officials and Mike Helton get a BIG thumbs-down for this call.
jr passed under the yello line a few years ago at dega and got by with it u remember that they said that kensth went down if that was anyone one but jr they would make him go back
Mision, your not alone. Although I am not really fan of his, I was about ready to smash my computer to pieces when I saw this crap. I really want to know who these "officials" are. 1st Pass Below Yellow: Very close racing, unintentional. 2nd Pass: Swerves below line to avoid slamming into Johnson. The penalty was a bunch of BULLSHIT. "It's wrong!" I agree, Carl.
I remember race that so clearly. Got that made me pissy for the rest of the day but man, Edwards should have gotten 1 bf at the MOST. If im a NA$CAR driver whenever theres a crash im gonna go staight into and when theask why I'll say "Going below the Yellow Line is illeagle"
@xJohnx228x the fox-tnt/nbc contract was they share off Daytona 500's from 2001 to 2007. NBC/TNT were to broadcast the 2002, 2004, and 2006 Speedweeks ( Shootout, 500 ). FOX held the 2001, 2003, and 2005 Speedweeks, before taking over in 2007 with the ESPN contract.
this is the one thing i like about TNT... they question things that go on during the race unlike others who let it happen. this was complete bullshit though... i remember it
Haha, your welcome. My whole "driver friend" deal, which by the way is not as great as it may sound, started out with Denny Hamlin last year in early March... He's not the most down-to-earth guy. And ever since he's gotten into cup his head is about the size of Jupiter. We're no longer friends, lol.
Despite the fact he was trying to avoid wrecking a ton of cars, he passed several cars doing so. Although he would have still passed them since they were going on to pit road, the way that the rule is written makes it difficult. "You cannot pass below the yellow line." Had he gotten sideways and passed those cars moving on pit road to the right while under the yellow line - no penalty would have been given.
there has to be common sense in application of the rules. If the only options are to have a massive, possibly injury inducing, multicar wreck or swerve out into the infield sacrificing speed and track position then its common sense or bust
The second penalty was a load of HORSESHIT. If it were me, I wouldn't come down pit road at all. Guess your name has to be Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson or Dale Earnhardt Jr to get the benefit of the doubt.
Fuck em Carl. You do your thing and let them make asses of themselves. Someone in NASCAR is going to turn one of the last great sports into a joke just like they do with hitting in football, not hitting the goalie in hocky, and so on. Excelent driving
Rules are rules...you can't pass below the yellow line, under no circumstance. The second pass was his spotter and crew chiefs mistake. As far as speeding on pit road, Nascar has timing loops that are 100% efficient. He was a fool for not coming back in too. This ain't Bristol guys...
@TyVulpine No, Carl Edwards fucked up at Talladega in the 2008 fall race when he wrecked himself, and two of his teammates hand handed Jimmie Johnson is 3rd Championship. Three professionals all disagreed with you. Even if they are they shit ones on NBC and Carl Edwards was forced on the second to avoid wrecking the field. I will give you the first one since its debatable if Edwards crossed the yellow line or not, and I saw no solid proof that Edwards got cheated on the speeding plenty.
How? I've known different drivers for different amount of times. I have friends who know drivers, and... I start talking to them... etc. etc. IM me on AIM or something. RoxyRacingxo99 i can't explain it all on comments on Carl's video, lmao
hahahahaha stock car always beats open-wheel :) Happy that BP brought you to the love of my life!!! He was extremely knowledgeable because he used to race them :)
That would've been amazing!
he did get caught speeding on pit road right after
KRT049 😂😂😂😂
*I'm not comin', ITS WRONG*
nascardude1400 COME DOWN PIT ROAD NOW CARL!
It was wrong
the biggest injustice ever towards Jack Roush was taking the 1990 championship from Martin and giving it to Earnhardt.
I agree.I am not an Edwards fan, but what the fuck was that, he gets penalized for losing 3 spots? WTF. When the crew chief was like "COME DOWN PIT ROAD NOW CARL" I would have been like "FUCK YOU I WASN'T PENALIZED"
He's so damn polite "I can't talk about that on the air."
"No way in Hell we're gettin' penalized. I'm not pulling in!"
Poor thing.
NASCAR officials are somehting else.
Who’s here after Dega 2020?
Yeah The Race was good up until the Finish.
The second call is utter Bull Sh*t
He was trying to avoid the wreck and actually lost about 4 positions in the process.
Number 2 was bullshit. All he did was avoid the cars ahead of him. NASCAR needs to stop screwing around for once.
If I was Carl Edwards I would have just stopped in the middle of the track and let everyone else get the penalty for going under the yellow to get past me.

Way to stand up to authority Carl, you're the man!
If you look at the replay closely, Carl had an opening on the outside to pass the cars in front of them as they were heading to pit road, so I guess the whole thing could've been avoided if he just passed them from that side. Not saying I agree with the call NASCAR made here, but you can't rely on officials to make the right call all the time.
its the shootout. it got rained out the night before so they did this after qualifying
It's because he passed Jimmie Johnson when he still above the line.
I don't think it justifies the black flag, though. He's trying to avoid a wreck.
This is probably a odd observation, but this video was uploaded the day the Shootouts took place. I find this quiet interesting since TH-cam was still a relatively unknown website. In fact, the website was still a couple days away from its first birthday; which very well could make this video one of the first on TH-cam.
Thats terrible! Three questionable black flags in one day. I felt bad for him that day. He had a great car.
IT'S WRONG!!!
man that race was unexplainably aggravating! errrrgh!
LMFAO 2:35 "i wouldent either !!!"
Poor decision on the second call. Lucky this race didn't count for points
Pretty clear edwards was screwed. However this was somewhat common back then. The yellow line was always an issue from like 2003( matt kenseth/dale jr issue) to at least 2009(keselowski/edwards). if tony loses he would have went ape hsit post race interview

yeah, I agree with the first penalty, but the second is just ridiculous.
Bring it down pit road then straight to garage if it were me I would have been to pissed to race
He was wrong the first time, but his biggest mistake was the comments he made on pit road in between segments. NASCAR is gonna put you in your place if you speak out. They were full of shit and they know it.
2:36 i like bill weber's comment "i wouldn't either" lol
They wonder why people call NASCAR the WWE of motor sports. That doesn't even make sense and goes against the rule book. Someone at NASCAR race control should've been fired for that one.
Mary Princessbbw I think David Hoots has a picture of someone fucking a pig. Seriously.
I would have been more than happy to meet with NASCAR after the race!!!
1st deal was nothing different then what Jr. did at Dega in 2003. 2nd was the most stupid call I've seen in auto racing in recent years.
You know why you can't buy or look at a NASCAR Rule Book online? It's because their always changing the rules during the race...
Sometimes I think NASCAR plays favorites.
1st infraction (1st yellow line): Carl's fault
2nd infraction (2nd yellow line: bad call by NASCAR
3rd infraction (speeding): Carl's fault
well do you remember the race where he ducked a whole 3/4 of his car under the yellow line for the lead at talladega? (might have been the first or second race where the rule was put into play)..

They must have let EA Sports decide the second one.
COME DOWN PIT ROAD NOW CARREL haha sounds like his mother talkin to him when he was like 13 haha
true like they changed the tire pressure rule at charlotte
a great big AMEN to that :D

One of the best to never win a championship.
This didn't age well...
i know this was wrong, that 2nd penalty was a bad call by NASCAR!
Poor man ngl
frekin sue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Out of all the drivers i've befriended over the years, Carl is definitely the nicest. The officials decision made them sound like they were Denny Hamlin making the call!!! (He doesn't like Carl for reasons unknown to me. He says "Carl is not respected") NASCAR officials and Mike Helton get a BIG thumbs-down for this call.
well he passed the golden boy johnson at the time that was def a screwjob by nascar he would have wrecked
You Should see The TALLADEGA Fall Race 2020
jr passed under the yello line a few years ago at dega and got by with it u remember that they said that kensth went down if that was anyone one but jr they would make him go back

Knuckle heads of nascar, and they wonder why people have stopped watching!!!
Did he ever came down to pit road??
oo plz jeff gordon doesnt get better treatment he is a good driver get over it.
Good for Carl. There was no reason for him to get any of those penalties.

I know! What do they have some stupid rule whare u cant thret to dis obay an official?
ALLiDOisFLOPsets-Nascar sucks
wonder if NASCAR would penalise Carl 4 making a wreak if he hiddnt avoid
Rought driving or Pass below yellow line?

Carl got screwed on the second one!!!
knowing that, now thats dedication to the cause ;)
first one was not a force but the seconed was bullshit
that is a whole lot of chicken shit. Nascar at its finest back then. somewhat better now.
Anyone Have The Whole Race.
WTF IS TNT DOING BROADCASTING THE SHOOTOUT??? I don't remember that....
I agree. When his crew chief said 'come down pitroad carl' i would have said 'fuck you next time ill wreck everyone' and turned my radio off.
NASCAR vs. 99?
havent u ever heard of the daytona 500????
I was there!!!!!!! ;)
I see a maladjusted social issue caused by hatred, when someone invents faults in others.
This is why i hate nascar
You can't advance positions under the yellow line.. both times he did EVEN THOUGH he was trying to miss the cars pitting. Just saying.
Nascar sucks
@TyVulpine Uh, no, because you have the worst analyst I have ever seen.
How? I've known different drivers for different amount of times. I have friends who know drivers, and... I start talking to them... etc. etc. IM me on AIM or something. RoxyRacingxo99 i can't explain it all on comments on Carl's video, lmao
lol
Lmao.
Number 2. fail
hahahahaha stock car always beats open-wheel :)
Happy that BP brought you to the love of my life!!! He was extremely knowledgeable because he used to race them :)
LOL
nascar dasent like edwards lol
