I think the reason why we kept confusing them as old man Jenkins is that he was basically the only consistent old guy at the Krusty krab and in the background so whenever they joked around about a character named old man Jenkins, we thought of that guy until the new one came around
@@chrisdey6667 I always thought it was a family of old men that share the title of old man Jenkins. Or it was a common family name. me and my sister made a minecraft world called "bobville" named after a stick man and we made it founded by old man jenkins and built a statue of that guy
Old man Jenkins is a ghost that posesses whichever fish gives off the most "old man" energy at the time. Very much an "Ah, finally, a suitable host" kinda deal. This lasts until their physical body becomes to decrepit and crusty to possess as the slightest movement or change in the ocean's current will turn their withering body to dust. So it falls into a category of "old man energy" while still being functional for at least a few years A side effect of this possession is mass memory shift. Pretty sure in the episode with the seahorse spongebob says "YOU ATE OLD MAN JENKINS" and it was old man walkers voice in the stomach saying something like "I dont wanna be a burden." They have drastically different voices.
i remember even before watched spongebob as kid i thught "old man jenkins" ment some old man that pulled his pants up so high the pants are right on or covering the belly button. and would use term "i dont want to be old man jenkins" when made to pull pants to the "normal" spot ppl typicaly have it.

Two small anecdotes regarding Old Man Jenkins I felt like sharing here: 1- The original Jenkins gets further legitimacy by appearing in the game Creature from The Krusty Krab where he is an important NPC within SpongeBob’s story after they both meet within the guts of an Alaskan Bullworm. Wouldn’t be surprised if he appeared in other side media from the franchise. 2- A little dub anecdote, if my memories serve me right, here in France, the line "Where’s Old Man Jenkins?" was basically replaced with "Where’s my grandpa?" which you could argue wether it’s funnier or not but it at least makes a bit more sense as to why the guy would ask where the old man is if he is family. Just wanted to share that.🙃
