OK a lot of people are blaming Toyota and the other car companies. Hate to say this.... But this isn't the car makers. This is all the people that voted Biden and caused the super-flation. Just because we haven't high inflation in 30+years doesnt mean its not gonna happen. If you voted Democrat, know that you caused this. Decisions at the ballot box DO MATTER. Anyway, do some research before you blame Toyota... They have to buy all the parts and materials. The lift in prices is commensurate with inflation. Again, cars are no different than apples. Inflation pushes all prices up.

The absolute worst, and I can’t emphasize this enough, WORST part of this is that the entire automotive industry, and not just Toyota, is in a state of denial about the situation they’re in with overinflated prices and slumping sales. There isn’t a single car lot in the country that isn’t overrun with inventory they can’t move and it just keeps piling up because people have been priced out of the market. Banks have tightened their lending standards and until the economy actually starts to recover, good luck getting a loan if your credit isn’t top tier.
But the dealers would rather sell off their inventory to auction than nix the ridiculous markups. Most people would gladly pay a little above fair market value for a car or truck as long as they could get financing at a reasonable interest rate, and not see 20k in markups baked into the deal.
Not happening, and probably never will again. Let it all burn…

I wasn't ready to buy a new Tacoma, i wanted to wait another couple of years, but when i found out last year that Toyota was discontinuing the V6 and just going to a turbo 4 I said to my self no way was i going to buy a turbo 4 in a pick up truck so i went ahead and bought a v6 last year while i could still get one and it was for 44k which i thought was outrageous because it costed more than my first house. After hearing the price on these trucks i am glad i did. when ever i get ready to buy another one i guess i will have to buy a Nissan. I don't like Nissan but 3 things i have to have before i buy a pick up. 1 a full frame. 2 at least a v6 or a V8 and 3, a real transmission not a glorified lawn mower transmission they call a cvt. I personally wont buy a car or truck with a turbo unless its diesel. Hopefully it will be a long time before i have to consider buying another car or truck though if ever at my age because i keep my cars and trucks for 20 years its the only way with what they cost now that i can get my moneys worth out of them. looks like to me that Toyota has switched over to planned obsolescence with these trucks like a lot of the other company's have switched over to like kitchen appliances and heat pumps. I had a whirlpool fridge that lasted me 40 years my stove and washer and dryer lasted over 20 now you are lucky to get one to last 10. Corporations have become so Greedy, crooked, and dirty its unbelievable but America destroyed the free market economy thus destroying their competition so they can get away with it now. Great video and you are telling the truth good on you.

I am a college student and I have been working on a research paper about environmental regulations have been affecting the automotive industry specifically toyota (I have a 2018 TRD OR). Turbos are currently being added to smaller engine displacements in order to make up for loss power and more importantly fuel economy. Im not a thermal dynamics specialist but I know that turbos allow these smaller engines to perform at an optimal pressure point for better gas mileage than the current naturally aspirated V6 and V8 counterparts. Of course this is all due to regulation and cannot be helped when it comes to which car companies benefits from which political agenda and vice versa.
My mom just bought the new lexus gx 550 for 10k cheaper than a 24 TRD OR taco. Lexus doesnt do any dealership markup. Yes it has a twin turbo engine. However lexus has used this same engine since 2018 and little to no problems have been documented so far. We have had the best experience with lexus and there is practically no price gouging. I love Toyota and I always will because of how well know they are for making great cars, but I think from now on Ill veer towards lexus just because we have had a better experience buying the car, customization of the car, lack of price gouging, and overrall service

I bought a '22 Outback Wilderness new that has a turbocharged 4 banger and it's been fine for me. The problem with these newer Toyotas is mainly the price. With taxes and fees, $50k is only getting you a lower-mid range Tacoma these days. You're absolutely correct that people are upside-down the minute they sign the paperwork. If I could get into a base model 4x4 for low $30k range I'd probably buy one. It seems those days are gone unfortunately, and so is my willingness to shop the brand for trucks.

I think people are afraid of the the turbo platform and sticker shock. You can get a lower trimmed vehicle in the new platform that is comparable in price to a mid-high trimmed prior gen, and still have better tech, more HP/Torque/MPG etc. I think consumers are just not ready for that shift, and I doubt they end up paying a ton of money for a higher trimmed Tacoma/Tundra because its foolish financially. But all things considered, these are much better vehicles than the prior gens. Longevity is TBD and Im sure they'll need to iron out the kinks. But with EPA mandates, all manufacturers are/will doing the same.

Toyota is starting to get very greedy. Only offering turbos in their cars ensures customers have to buy new vehicles every 5 years because these vehicles aren't built to last, have to take it into the dealership for more expensive maintenance, and the company will greatly increase their profit margin because smaller engines are cheaper to make. In turn, its a lose-lose for the customer, and the fact that they all cost 20-30% more than what they used to cost.

They went with the Direct injection on the VQ 3.8 on the Nissan to reduce co2. I believe they also added the start/stop feature to get federal rebates. The 3.8 is definitely cleaner burning then the old port injected VQ 40. May take a bit more fuel then the turbo fours but not by much as turbos will suck it up quite a bit under boost. I think the reason GM/Toyota went with the turbo four was to improve the low end torque which they do. Much more so then Nissan's V6. Especially at elevation. There are positives with induction and normally aspirated motors. As we see different views from the oems.
