- Toyota prices have skyrocketed! Yet, some people are still paying these ridiculous prices for these new turbo charged; 4 cylinder platforms.. In this video I discuss how Toyota missed out on a couple opportunities that could have made a big difference for them and their current sales numbers…as well as their customers… what will happen in the coming months and years as other dealers move in a more competitive fashion??? Will Toyota keep falling or wake up in time?

Loyalty is not free.. I guess Toyota is finding out the hard way
Damn rights. Cancelled my order.
Toyota did not screw up. They are just greedy. Nobody in their right mind would pay this outrageous pricing for a 4banger turbo piece of crap.
Toyota lost money in North America in FY2022. In FY2023, the Operating Profit margin for North American segment was the lowest in the world, around 3% (compared to 12% globally). I don't know what American dealers are doing to American consumers, but Toyota is far from greedy. They're barely making money in North America.
the sad part about your statement is that youre wrong. Ive seen quit a few running around where I live. toyota fanboys will spend the money on a new toyota just to have it. its sad
@@trianglechokeU exactly people will still pay the high prices. Toyota dealers may be forced to sell at sticker now, maybe Toyota lowers the prices slightly, but people will still buy them.
People buying the new tacoma are stepping into the unknown because the new complicated technology and not having enough tech’s fully trained to deal with it I would stay away at least until all the bugs are fixed I worked too hard to give my money away Toyota I’m disappointed the way you are treating your loyalty customers
We put you there but we can bring you down!
I think Toyota was relying on the Tacoma "Indestructible" reputation. They thought they could price them for whatever they wanted and people would blindly follow. Wrong.
My son ended up getting a Frontier, Midnight Edition, for $37,000.00. Happy as a lark!!!
I would be too! Great price!
Pass 😂 😂
@@jmyers6175 BE my guest!!!
So what you’re saying is no one wants to buy a $33,000 pick up truck for $60,000. That’s crazy talk
😂😂😂😂
lets be honest 33k won't even get you a fully loaded Rav4.
your numbers are a little low. No one wants a $60K truck for 80K, especially when none of them should me much more than $30K. Trucks are way to overpriced! We need stupid people to quit buying them.
So many car buyers paid dealer markups and Toyota said. We want that money! Bam
@@1mymikey and bam the auto manufacturers are going to pay a hefty price for this gauging of prices.
I'm keeping my 4.0 V6 tacoma until it dies
Same.

Me too. 2017 TRD Sport ext cab.
It essentially the same mpg
I can afford a $80k Toyota. But I won't pay that. It's not a German made luxury car. It's made in Mexico. I will NEVER pay what they want for a Mexican taco.
Never
Pues entonces cómprate una Tundra hecha en EEUU, en donde sus motores construidos en Texas se están fundiendo !!!!
You would pay the same for built in Hapan or the U.S. historically the U.S built Tacomas have not been priced more than the ones built in Mexico
My father the first Toyota pickup in 1976 in Southern California brand new for $5200.00 made in Japan
Too many dollars, too few cylinders. What's happening to Toyota is terrible and they don't even see it yet.
Totally agree with you.. they Screwed up big time‼️
I've owned nothing but Toyotas since 1998. I'll be looking at other brands in the future. I don't like the changes they're making, and Toyota dealers are the worst to deal with.
Same
I agree with your statement about the dealerships, they are one of the worse and Toyota turns a blind eye to it. I have called the corporate office several times and they are apologetic but their is nothing they can do
Same here. This might be Nissan's time to shine.

Build in Mexico , no V6 , price jumped by 20% +. Time to move on from Toyota until they come back down to earth.
It's not just that they dropped the V6. They turbo charged the 4-cylinder. Stupid move for Toyota
Don't forget, Toyota is paying $2.77 an hour to the workers in Mexico, thus saving 80% on labor and so jacking up the prices.
Nissan Frontier. NA V6 in all models and built in Mississippi.
@RKDriver Yep, and according to some leaks, the 25 Frontier is supposed to have ground clearance increase for the PRO-4X. I wanted to buy one in '22 after an idiot totaled my '12 Frontier crashing into it when it was parked. But, I ended up getting a Colorado ZR2. The Frontier lacked a real off-road suspension, no front locker, and was more expensive for less.
But Mexicans sure know how to make TACOS🌮, they are delicious!😜
My thoughts are I just want a basic pickup truck. I bought my Tacoma in 2014, no power door locks, no power windows, no power mirrors, manual transmission, BUT yes 4x4 and that’s IT. $19,995 brand new… I get it… inflation… so they need to try to keep prices LOW, move it to Mexico… cool… give me a 4cyl non turbo… cool… but don’t charge me for stuff I don’t want. I don’t want the turbo, I don’t want a digital gauge cluster, I don’t want power door locks etc. I just want a basic pickup truck.
The funny part is- all of the powered items you don't want, only adds $400 to the cost of the truck (and you get that all back if you sell or trade the truck, even if it's 15 years later). The digital gauge cluster cost less to make then the analogue gauges they removed. In other words, all of the "improvement's" shouldn't add to the cost of the truck but, goofballs are willing to pay top dollar for these things.🤷
And these insidious screens in every new car. I am NOT buying a tablet I'm buying a truck. This crap is just part of the betrayal. But it is complete betrayal of it's entire base.
@@timalan7406 Exactly. In theory the truck should be cheaper with a 4 cylinder and made in Mexico but they won't pass that savings on to the consumer. When they announced the new drive train I went and ordered a new 23 with the V6.
@@270eman The 2023 is a better choice.
Nissan Frontier
I spent about a week looking at Tacomas and Frontiers. I have owned Toyotas since 1991. And I will be buying the Frontier ... .that is how bad Toyota screwed this up.
Or how good Nissan chose. I sold my Tacoma and purchased a Frontier this year! Join the club, I really like it!
I hate to burst your Toyota bubble but the frontier is a better truck. Always has been! Dana axles Dana transfer case ZF 9 speed with a big NA V6....not to mention it has a 60:1 crawl ratio. The Tacoma is 33:1. That new frontier is badass guys.
@@All-Miles-Matter I just need a truck, not an offroad beast. The tech in the Frontier is dated. The cameras look 360p. I ended up getting a Colorado. It was a better value than both the Tacoma and Frontier by over $5k. I get a new truck every couple of years, so I never drive anything out of warranty anyway.
@@All-Miles-Matter yup!

@@shattered115 I’m 59 years old and plan on driving my 23 TRD until I die. I only drive 6-8K miles per year now so in 25 years it’ll still have low miles, for a Toyota.

No, they won't. They will be like the 2014 is now. 😂
Germans have finally mastered the art of making reliable turbocharged high performance engines after 2 decades of learning from failures but even they don't put 4 cylinder engines in their bigger SUVs. Toyota has committed a grave sin
But all the Mercedes’ 4X4 over lander class B camper vans in US (which are pretty large vehicles) are 4cyl turbo, they no longer offer the V6
Engine in my Taos is smooth as butter.
taco is a small vehicle. germans use tons of turbo 4s in SUVs, it has been in the GLC since inception. it's not about the turbo 4, it's about how reliable they can be. chevy has a 2.7 turbo 4 in its Silverado since 2019 and it hauls and runs long and fine. it's ok to dislike forced induction because v6 is cooler, but let's not pretend it doesn't have advantages.
I'll keep my third gen until the wheels fall off.
Im keeping it until the pistons fly off
Hell yeah
I’m 59 years old and I’ll drive my 23 TRD Off Road until I die.
Probably why the older toyota's (such as the 1st gen tacoma and 3rd gen 4runner) are worth so much now. People would rather put that money into mods/upgrades to make something they 100% want and still save a ton of money.
I thought I'll buy a Toyota next time, but not anymore. Toyota just went downhills with all those turbo engines. No turbo, no CVT, that's my goal.
Nissan
Easy fix... bring back the V6 with this transmission. Awesome combo.
I Agree 💯
Easier, just get a Frontier with that combo. Made in USA,not Mexico, for less pesos.
@@jeanclaude7018 I'm really considering the Frontier. It may not be as good off road, but I don't rock climb. Usually just forest service dirt roads. No problem for the Frontier. Buy what you need, don't over buy.
@@darrylk808 That's a lesson a lot of folks don't know. They seem trained to always seek the most premium model when it might be a waste of money. If you ever wanted a little more, they have Nismo upgrades you can bolt on.
@@jeanclaude7018 Time will tell on the Nissan. After all, Nissan is owned by Renault
I totally agree, I've been driving Toyota trucks since 1986, and I usually go 10-12 years between my purchases, I'm currently on my 4th Toyota, 2018 Tundra TRD Offroad 4X4 double cab, with the 5.7L and hoping this truck will be my last one because I would never buy a full size truck with a V6 gas engine, Toyota has definitely moved lots of potential buyers away, and even the new young generation, all they have to do is the math, and it doesn't make any sense
Same I’m sticking to my 5.7 as well 140k miles hopefully it lasts a other 140
The new Tundra V6 turbo engines are now being recalled due to main bearing failures.
My dealership wanted me to buy another Tundra when I bought my 23 Tacoma TRD. (I had 400K+ miles on my 2010 Tundra 4WD 5.7 when I sold it to my cousin when I bought my Tacoma.
The Tundra was still running and looking like new.
I needed a smaller pickup and when I heard the Tacoma was going 4cyl turbo, I pulled the trigger and bought my 23.
100%. I was so excited to buy the Tacoma Trailhunter, still think it looks great. Between the overpricing, sketchy reliability on the new gen, and features that just don't match up - I bought a GMC Canyon AT4x fully loaded to the gills for $55k. Super happy with it, never thought I'd buy American lol.
Throw in the recall for 2022-2023 and likely 2024 Tundra's engine recall and Toyota has a real problem on their hands.
My friends keep telling me it’s about time I should get a new truck like the new Tacoma but I tell them why would I want to get rid of my 1989 Toyota extended cab pickup when it still runs great and it’s still in great shape? Sure it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles like the new Tacoma but who cares. I did check out the new Tacoma at the local dealership here in Victorville and I was shocked to see how much they want for this new truck. Too much cheap looking plastic in the interior for what they were asking just didn’t do it for me. If I do decide to buy a new truck it would have to be the Nissan Frontier in a King cab version because it still has the rear access doors which for some reason some knuckle head at Toyota decided it would be a good idea to get rid of. Not everyone needs or wants a four door pickup. So no thank, I’ll just hold on for now to my old 1989 Toyota pickup that has never let me down and it’s still going strong. Toyota, you blew it with this new Tacoma and Tundra.
Sounds like you need new friends; they don’t wanna hang with you because of your old RELIABLE ride. Kick them to the curb. 😂
I will NEVER buy a $60K Tacoma. I may pay $40K for a loaded 4x4 with leather, if they offer a standard cab with a 6' bed. But until then, it will probably be a NISSAN Frontier for $15,000 less money, with leather! SHOVE IT TOYOTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've owned nothing but Tacomas my whole life and like the new 4th gen, but I'm protesting the pricing. Just bought a new Canyon Denali. More tech and far more comfortable interior than any Taco. $55k truck but they gave me a 5k discount. Totally loaded with 2" lift, 33" tires and every option for $49,600. No regrets.
Smart moved
You already answered the “it doesn’t make sense.” The answer is as long as people buy them they will keep raising the prices. Toyota doesn’t care if it sits on the lot for 3 months, eventually someone will spend $70k on a Tacoma and Toyota will laugh it’s way to the bank. I still drive a 2011 RAV4 V6. It’s old but mostly still like brand new. I keep considering buying a Tacoma but there is no way I’m trading out no car payment for a $900/mo payment over 5 years just to get one. When I need a truck I rent one from Home Depot.
I picked up my new 2024 trd off road for 45,000 and they gave me 30,000 for my 2019 sr5. I feel like I got a great deal! I’m loving it! I’m in Oregon
I'm so glad I bought my 3rd gen when I did. Because if I were to do it again right now, i'd be getting a Frontier, access cab, six ft bed, and a V6.
I’ll go against the grain here, my wife has had the Toyota grand Highlander for almost a year now and that 4 cyl is outstanding. I’m glad the Tacomas are piling up on the lot, because I’m hoping to buy one later this year,
You are right, they are way too expensive , made in Mexico AND a 4 cyl. turbo charged engine. This all spells goodbye Toyota. I guess they want out of the truck market.
Late 21, 22, 23 and current model Tacomas are made in Mexico. Before made in San Antonio, Texas in USA.
Who is still looking for a Tacoma? If you are a fan you should already have one, and since they supposedly last forever, you should not be looking for a replacement. If you haven’t bought one yet, you really didn’t want one in the first place. No idea who is upset about this.
Last year I was at the point where I was going to buy another truck or reinvest in my current one. I have a 2007 Sr5 Tundra with the 5.7 with 212k miles. I can't do the hybrid or straight v6 with a full size truck. There are to many points of failure. I have re-invested in my truck and even considered looking for a lower mileage 2014-2021 tundra.
Those 98% of the people complaining about it are people that haven't even bought it and tried it out. People who have bought the 4th gen and have had the 3rd gen say that the 4 cylinder turbo is actually stronger than the v6. What I'm saying is, you can't complain about something that you haven't even tried yourself.
I bought my 23 TRD Off Road double cab, 6’ bed and the Premium and technology pkgs as soon as I heard that the 24 Tacoma was going to have the 4cyl turbo.
Everyone knows that a naturally aspirated engine will outlast a turbo hands down.
Now that being said, for those of you that say a diesel turbo engine from a semi truck will last longer, please consider that the Tacoma Never had a semi truck engine in it.
Yes there’s some people who forget that we’re talking about a Toyota’s.
I agree with everything you addressed. I was a diehard Toyota Truck fan since 1985.
I just bought a Colorado Trail Boss for significantly less than a comparable Tacoma.
No regrets yet. As far as reliability and maintenance…the money I saved will go a long way on keeping the truck on the road.
Had a 1980 longbox 4WD with the original 20r , a 1982 shortbox 4x4 and a 1983 shortbox 4x4 with the 22r , All were basic no frills trucks , almost affordable back then too , had manual locking hubs and solid front axle, loved them ! Now TOYOTA are so high tech and complicated I wouldn’t touch one with a 40 foot flagpole
Being a Toyota tundra owner for the past 26 years trading them in every three years I decided to go a different route after I saw the decline of reliability and switch to the GMC 2500 HD and I couldn’t be happier
I STILL haven’t seen one 4th gen Taco in the wild. A full five months into 2024.
Where do you live?
Lifelong Tacoma owner. My 2018 will be my last. Never thought Chevy would look so good.
Sir, you made the right move regearing your 3rd Gen taco. Now, put that supercharger in, a special big brake kit and you will have a truck for life. You are making the right moves!
Sad to say you’re right. I live on Guam, where Tacomas hardly ever sit on the lot for more than a day (slight exaggeration). when I got my 3rd gen Tacoma I was on a 3 month wait list and had to put down $200 just so they call me first when it came in. These days passing by our Toyota, they have 8 Tacomas lined up facing the main road.
Had a gen 2 Tacoma and now a gen 3. Was already starting to think about a gen 4 TRD Offroad, but the pricing is just too crazy. Been looking at Colorado ZR2s now. Since when is THAT the cheap truck?
Agree with everything you said. Even with GM's luxury truck line up, the top of the line off road capable GMC Canyon AT4X starts at 55k. That's 10k less than the TRD Pro.
You hit the nail on the head ! Thanks for your input , you are saying what a majority of us are thinking and feeling about the new Toyota vision and I’m not interested. I use to be loyal to Toyota but Toyota is no longer loyal to us the true Toyota buyer. I buy Toyota and Lexus about every 3-4 years not anymore as a lot of the comments said I will keep my 2020 Taco & 2022 GX until the wheels fall off 👍🏼
Great video and great analysis on how badly Toyota has given their customers products they didn’t want.
I still have an 08' with 190K on it and i'm gonna drive her till the wheels fall off.
Just like every manufacturer, they are learning the hard way that it's not common for people to pay $50-$60k for a 4 cylinder midsize truck or any common commuter car. Add to that the greediness of the dealers to add $5-$10k on top of that. Ask Jeep and Ford about it! You can get a used 911 and a used F-150 for $60k.
I wanted modern features and hoping for better mpg vs my 21 trd sport. I'm going to keep my 2021 and put a better stereo and see if I can get heated steering wheel added
I was a fanboy of Toyota all my life. Had 3 new Toyotas. I still have them and they are running great. However, I just bought a new Honda last month instead of a Toyota for all the reasons you mention here and more...
Toyota screwed the pooch. Agree with u 💯%
Crazy that so many people talk bad about Mexican Toyota’s while there’s hundreds of thousands of American built Toyotas with recalls. Tundras are built in TX and we all know the new ones don’t even make it past 7k miles in some cases
I didn’t see any new tacoma on the road here in big country Texas.
Whenever a company wants to own a dealer, they are given a tackle box and inside the tackle box is everything they need to run a dealership. They reach in and pull out a fishing lure,
First One.
Grand Opening Sale
Big Tent Sale
Big Ballon Sale
Under new ownership sale
4 th of July sale
They simply keep pulling lures out, if one does not work get another and repeat. There is no answer but what is in the tackle box, hence dealers, all dealers never change.
$52k is $52k, whether it's top of the line or SR5. No matter the brand. Fifty-two thousand dollars plus..for 72 months😂
Completely agree w your thoughts. Makes you wonder about the entire Toyota lineup?
100%
Dude I agree with everything you are saying here - I’ll be keeping my 5th gen 4Runner for a good long time - (a real Toyota)
Agree with you completely. I’m a Toyota guy, own a 2016 Avalon, a 2019 Tundra, and a 1980 FJ40. The new Tundra with the recall for blown motors is an overpriced disaster. No way I’d buy one.
Toyota does seem relatively expensive, but the problem with all the price hikes
is regulation. The overbearing safety and emmission regulations are forcing the manufactuers to increase the complexity of the vehicles . This cost is paid fir by the customers because its embedded into the product.
You are correct Sir. Screw Toyota they’re not good anymore.
I guess I agree. Cars and trucks are full stop just too expensive. But don't kid anyone. When the supply chain got whacked, it inflated everything, rubber, plastic, bolts switches. Supply and demand drive prices as you said. And during THAT time, the stimulus money allowed for the demand side to pay the increased prices - All parts dealers were in a situation, they had 2 of everything and the market wanted 100. Prices went up. These trucks are expensive to make ( today ) as well as expensive for labor and expensive to sell. We know dealers price gouged, we know that truck manufacturers made money in the past 3 years but that doesn't mean they can sell them for 28K again. Some adjustment in our expectations needs to happen. At this point we need wages to go up enough to catch the inflated costs of everything. I hope the American truck brands survive - they probably will need a bail out before this is done. As soon as the deep pockets buy the fill of what they want watch out!
I fully agree with you , I have been loyal to Toyota for over 15 years now, over 8 vehicles, but I WILL NOT be purchasing a new over priced 4 cylinder with batteries and issues , when my vehicles need replacing I will be looking at older Toyotas or GMC / Chevy .
I’m keeping my 2019 TRD PRO! I’ve noticed the high prices for the Toyota trucks and unfortunately whenever I decide to buy another truck it might be a Honda Ridgeline.
I was really excited for the new generation Toyotas. I still am. But yeah the only thing I don't like about any of them, IS the price. I think they have a lot of capability, potential, and once all the kinks are worked out and fixed, they will be better and more reliable vehicles. Toyota DOES need you take a hard turn with the pricing, and perhaps, move their plants back to the states, or, like the 4Runners, move their plants to Japan and go back to the reliable tried and true QA before the downfall. I love the way the new Toyotas look, and yes I also wish they kept a V8 and V6 option for the Tundra, Tacoma, 4runner, Sequoia, and Landcruiser. I have the 2020 Tundra and I'll never trade or sell that, because I love the V8. It's a gas guzzler, and gas prices in California are skyrocket high and I can't afford that gas, so I'm looking at a new daily driver.
My last 4 new trucks were Toyotas, I’m not paying $50,000 for a 4 banger made in Mexico.
Before I bought a 23 Tacoma I previously owned a 2014 Nissan frontier, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that truck it had about 130,000 miles on it when I sold it, but it was still going strong. I’ve never had to replace anything besides small little things like a belt or lightbulbs and just regular maintenance, I bought the truck used and even the previous owners have never replaced anything major on it. You’re honestly better off going with the frontier, especially with the price difference.
I got 2024 Tacoma 4x4 double cab TRD Sport with 6 speed manual for 44k. I paid a little more than I wanted to, but it wasn't too bad. I'll baby this thing and drive it very conservatively - keeping it in the garage. Every 6 months / 5000 miles, I'm changing the oil. I also paid for Toyota's platinum extended warranty just in case. I don't like that they went to Turbos, but I will say this drives so much better than the V6. I'm certainly curious to see how reliable this thing will be. Right now, I'm placing my trust in Toyota.
Not a good plan. Turbos need to exercised regularly. It won’t last very long if you think letting it sit and babying it is good for a turbocharged engine.
@@zfunk9 doesn't matter what you do with turbo 4 banger there will never be longevity and resale value will TANK !
Congrats, enjoy 💥 changing that turbo engine every 3k no matter what they say! It will last.
I 100% agree. I own a 18 Tacoma and I had thoughts of getting a 24 but the prices are ridiculous not to mention higher interest rates don't help. I've been eyeing the new Pro4x from Nissan.
If you go Toyota, make sure it’s built in Japan. Or Texas for the trucks.
You want to know why Toyota can charge more than Chevy, buy one and see how ya feel about it after a few years when it’s a money pit. You get what you pay for! Toyota is building transmissions that aren’t disposable at 100k, they are building engines that last 400k! Look at how many Chevy engine failures have happened in Silverado and yet they never stand behind them! Toyota is recalling 2 years of Tundra to replace engines. Chevy would have stood by and watched the owners go bankrupt.
Did the research for a Tacoma. Ended up getting a mint 2020 V6 for a steal. I'm glad I did seeing the pricing and drivetrain of the new series. They should've kept the V6 and had the Hybrid as an option.
Totally agree 👍🏼
I will like to see this video ten years later 😊 to see which vehicle kept the value!!!!
I have a 2018 Taco SR5 and it's done it's job well throughout the years. I plan on keeping it for a long time but in a hypothetical scenario where I lose my truck somehow I probably wouldn't get a current gen Taco. Why? I'd want something that's similar to my Taco for a fair price. I'd probably get a little flack for this but the current Nissan Frontier with it's bulletproof NA V6 is actually a lot similar, priced fairly, and with a growing aftermarket support I can't say it's a bad choice. It's also the last of it's a kind - a Japanese midsize V6 which was assembled in the US. It just makes more sense to get a Frontier if you like the previous gen Tacoma. 🤷♀
I've been looking for a midsize for my son and we hated the new Tacoma. The cab is not as comfortable as the 3rd gen. And as mentioned the price for what you get is ridiculous. We are not looking at Colorado or Canyon, get more for your $$$ and the interior is nicer and more comfortable. Tech you get is nicer too.
What is happening? RE: loss of $$ driving off the lot you were really light. Used cars have really went down, buy a new vehicle, drive it off the lot and the typical loss (historically) has been 20%. HOWEVER, in this crazy market think north of 25% from MSRP. NO one wants a used car right now and that is also why no one wants a new one - people are MAXED out. Expect MSRP's do drop since nothing is moving but by how much? Not enough.. I also expect more layoffs industry wide, more dealership to fail, and if you own stock it won't be pretty.
Will never buy a turbo 4 or 6 cylinder engine for a truck or suv. The 5.7 v8 was solid and they need to bring it back ASAP before they ruin their company image!
Glad I ditched my 22 off-road for the 24 premium off-road.
Drove it off the lot for 51k with a lift and wheels/tires. It’s a million times better than the gen 3.. no longer an under powered turd, no longer shit suspension, no longer a crap transmission. I’ll
Drive it and if it starts falling apart I’ll punt it…
At the end of the day it’s a Toyota and it’s a disposable car. . My Shelby’s/BMWS/and my Porsche are my nice cars.
The Tacoma is just a throw down for daily use and my kid can have it in a couple years.
Absolutely spot on, been buying Yotas for 36 years, I’ve owned em all, not any more!!! I’m keeping my 2016 4Runner Trail, good solid truck@20.5 mpg. Why would I buy an uglier over tech station wagon looking vehicle that only gets a few for mpg? Toyota needs to fire everyone and rehire the old engineers, these new vehicles are all the same. Kills me as I am a die hard Toyota fan, not now.
Right There with Ya !
i Dunno, everyone who ive seen actually driving the new taco all agree the new drive train is an improvement. Ive driven it a few times and i think its a huge improvement performance-wise. Lot of the criticism online on the engine seems contrived. I will agree that the price jump over the old gen is really questionable though
I paid $30,000 for my 2017 TRD sport out the door with tax and license. I'm going to hold on to the 3rd gen. I've already met several people with over 300,000 miles on the 3rd gen Tacoma. The third gen Tacoma is going to be the sought-after platform in the future because of the naturally aspirated 6-cylinder
No it won’t. Not a lot of people are looking at >300k mile vehicles.

Yea I agree with you. I think I got lucky and picked up one of the last 2023 tacos (with 4 mi but technically used). Still over payed but worth it (imo) to get the last of the V6 powertrains.
My 22’ Tundra caused me to buy a 24’ for 4Runner. Not buying any future Toyota vehicles. The value isn’t baked in any longer.
You're not the only one saying about the pricing, complicated under the hood & 4-cylinder turbo that are good in the long. We die hard loyal Toyota customers are saying it to, its way over price, 4 wheel drive is complicated turbo that not going to last a very long time.😂😂😂😂

Toyota's getting a lot of heat for the current pricing, but we got to take a step back and think about what's really going on here. So, during the pandemic money-hungry dealers jacked up their prices way higher than what Toyota was asking, and surprise, surprise, people still bought loads of cars because of FOMO. Toyota saw all this happening and figured they were leaving money on the table. Now they're trying to make up for what they see as lost revenues. I still own a Toyota, but I promise you I will not buy another if this continues.
Good looking truck. They killed it with the power train.
I have 2019 Tacoma. I was already disappointed by the 2023 4Runner! I am heading over to Nissan.
I hate politics but this is what car manufacturer's has turned into. If ford and gm doesn't sell trucks, what else are they going to sell? Toyota doesn't rely on their truck sells, their brand sells worldwide and very well. I think that an agreement was made just so ford and gm can stay afloat and keep the labor mill rolling.
The Toyota brand will continue to struggle with selling vehicles for crazy prices. Not to mention the Tundra recall. I would not touch a Toyota third Gen Tundra. Diminished value with the engine recall.
I love my 2020 off road I really wanted to upgrade it to the 2024 off road I've been a Tacoma owner for 30 years but I just can't pay those prices, and I believe you truly are getting less. I think I'm going with the frontier next and it kills me to leave. I will hold on to my 2020 for another year to see what happens but i love upgrading every 5 years
Tacos are stacking up everywhere. I will keep the third gen v6 with manual.
Taco's made in Taco country, i bought a Frontier instead, i really like it.
I was going to buy a new 2024 Tundra, but they don't come with a V8 anymore and are overpriced, so it's an easy pass for me.
Not to mention the Toyota dealer was the worst to deal with
100% agree on all points. The only thing the 4Runner has going for it is that it’s made in Japan, but I still wouldn’t buy one at those prices. If I were in the market for a midsize truck, it would be the Nissan Frontier hands down. It’s the last naturally aspirated V6 left in the midsize pickup segment.
Well, that not what the Toyota Chief engineer said. He said they are listening to their clients 😅 including they know their loyal customers would line up to trade up or buy them. 😊
would never buy truck that Dude designed !
I have to agree. It's absolutely insane that a mid size truck would cost what used to be full size pickup prices. Now full size trucks are creeping towards 100k. Keep all your fancy tech gadgets. All I want is power windows. If I want to install aftermarket parts. I'll do that myself. At this point they're forcing everyone to buy into these insane tech packages anymore.
Spot on. I have my 2020 TRD Off Road 4runner and my local dealership has been asking to buy it from me. It has low miles and they are offering $5k less than what I bought it for brand new. No way in heck I would get rid of this truck for a 4 banger. In fact, I took it in for an oil change today and walked the lot to look at the Tacos. The fit and finish was horrible. Thr worse ones seem to come from the Baja California plant. The tailgate didn't fit and the gaps/level/straightening were really bad. Toyota lost me as a future customer.
Keeping the 3rd Gen. Great, other than complete paint failure at 60 thousand miles.
They screwed up putting a 4 clynder in a truck as GM😂😂
I agree. I’m not seeing any 4th gen Tacomas on the road here in a city of 200,000 people. I’m seeing plenty of 3rd gen Tacomas. I was afraid this would happen and I’m glad I bought a 22 SR5. Too many bells and whistles and the local dealers pricing is through the roof. Not a single Tacoma in the 35-40k price point. Everything is 45-52k and the truck is ugly in my opinion.
Loyal Tacoma owner since 2003, I’m on my 4th one now. Joe Biden’s economy is killing us and it’s only getting worse. Toyota can keep them. I don’t need a luxury truck.
Everyone is pissed about the powertrain. I’m pissed about the suspension. We are not the same.
The suspension and frame are the only things that were improved.
@@timalan7406 I'll keep my leaf pack on the 23. Lasts eternity and never has to be touched. The leaf pack they put on the 24 SR looks so weak. It has like 3 little leaf springs.
@@timalan7406 Have you seen the payload numbers. their trash 🗑️
@@270eman My 2016 Off road was less than 1000 lbs. payload but the 2024 is 1705 lbs. Coil set-up is better but it's not available on the low end models.
@@kevinayers7144 1705 lbs.
I really like my 2024 Tacoma Limited! I like everything about it! It now has almost 4000 miles & no problems!
