It has always seemed the adoptive parents prioritize Carly’s privacy and they value discretion. I’m sure when the adoption occurred the adoptive parents had many opportunities to become public figures alongside the biological parents. But they clearly chose otherwise. That makes me think social media is a source of friction between the families. Running to social media to complain about the biological parents is the last thing Caitlin should have done with her frustrations. She has a right to whatever feelings she has on the matter. But passive aggressive posts on social media are not a good path toward reconciliation. Talk about these things with a trusted friend/relative, a journal, or a therapist.

I agree! I also feel that Caitlin needs to recognize that Carly’s parents, as her legal mom and dad, can choose to involve the biological parents in their child’s life or not, including how much involvement. If they feel that things are becoming a harm to Carly, they can pull back contact as much as they see fit. It’s beautiful the relationship they’ve developed, but Caitlin needs to respect their decision.

I'm adopted. At around Carly's age I became more curious and wanted to know more about my bio background. A couple years older and I knew I wanted to search and find my bio relatives. Every adoptee has a right to decide whether or not they wish to pursue that. I never wanted to replace my adoptive family. I wanted to explore my *other* family. My parents were completely unsupportive, defensive, angry, scared, guilt-tripped me. If you adopt a child, you need to respect their experience AS an adopted person. It's entirely possible that Brandon & Theresa started feeling more panicky and threatened about Carly's feelings and shut things down. Sure, maybe they're trying to protect her. But maybe as she gets closer to legal adult age, 18, their fear of possibly losing her in any way has made them choose to cut off communication. From my own experience, adoptive parents who do that risk their relationship with their child more than parents who allow and monitor communication while supporting their child and frequently helping them navigate complicated feelings.

I hope u guys do realize that at the time that catelyn and Tyler were expecting Carly that they were both teenagers. They knew they wouldn’t be able to raise a child while being kids themselves. They made a decision to put Carly up for adoption and finding a loving couple that could provide the things Carly needs or wants. They were teens and they didn’t even have another kid until their 20’s and until they were in a right place

Personally, it would be painful to see my biological parents with an entire family… but couldn’t find a way to keep me. It was the right decision to find Carly parents that would love her and provide for her. However, as there’s more to this story than the adoptive parents simply blocking contact. Carly might need to work through a lot of emotions and that should be respected.

That had an open adoption because they still wanted to be in her life and help raise her. They were just 16 and in really bad homes themselves. What they did for Carly is selfless. They did right by her.

Ugh.... It's the never ending story here, they finally decided to cut the cord. Good for them, I'd hate to have to constantly have her come around. What is done is done, wait until Carly is an adult and looks for you if she chooses to.
I think everything should be agreed upon from the start before they proceed with the adoption process. That way both parties can make sure their needs are met and their outlook on the future matches. Most people putting their child up for adoption have multiple families to choose from.

On Teen Mom Caitlyn and Tyler meet up with their adoption agent and she reminds them of the agreement they signed and show them the papers which say something like “pictures and letters will be sent a couple times a year for the first (however many) years” and “the biological parents can request a visit with Carly once a year at the discretion of the adoptive parents”. And I believe their adoption agreement says that it can become a closed adoption at any time at the request of Brandon and Teresa. So Brandon and Teresa have no obligation to keep in contact anymore. Caitlyn and Tyler act like Brandon and Teresa are just watching Carly until she’s 18 then they think Carly will come back to them. They were negligent enough to get pregnant at 16, made the decision to put Carly up for adoption for her, and their, best interest, and signed over their rights as parents, which means they have no rights to Carly anymore. Carly is never going to be theirs. She’s not a part of their family. Brandon and Teresa have done the right thing keeping Carly away from the media and Caitlyn and Tyler and their toxic families.
Perhaps neither side had adequate time to be properly informed and make the decision that was right for them, but they both have to live with the agreement they signed. Bio parents have to live apart from their child, and adoptive parents should have to honor their OPEN adoption agreement also.

When she signed those papers she and Tyler signed all there rights as parents away. Yeah the adoptive parents allowed her to have visits but they have the right to stop the visitations if they want.

I’m sad and surprised Cait & Ty chose Only Fans. Why? I’m pretty open minded but I wouldn’t want my teen daughter close to anyone with a career choice like that. Wow this is tricky, my opinion is that they should have some type of financial contribution towards Carly just as much as they expect and demand to have access to her. Completely agree!! Catelynn acts like she’s not saying anything bad but in reality she’s making them look bad by saying that they are the ones that are blocking Carly from seeing them. And even if they are it’s up to them they are her parents. Facts! Every word you said is true. They think. Army belongs to them when she doesn’t. She has a family. Her parents are legally obliged to make decisions for her until she’s 18( plus). The separation might be partially her decision for all we know. “Open” adoption can be messy. Unfortunately Cait and Tyler were too young to take that into account when making their decision.

It doesn’t matter what contract is signed. Carly is still theirs. Not legally, no, but biologically yes. Brandon and Theresa can never be to Carly what her biological parents are. That’s just the hard truth that many adoptive parents don’t want to face and that most of society that has never actually experienced adoption (but feels entitled to run their mouths about it anyway) don’t usually want to face. The “they’re not her parents anymore” argument is a massive oversimplification. It doesn’t actually work that way. It never will. It doesn’t work that way for adoptees and it doesn’t work that way for birth parents.
If Catelynn and Tyler TRULY love their daughter... they would let her go & live her life with her parents... PERIOD!!! They are being selfish wanting the best of both worlds, it's just wrong & completely dysfunctional. If the daughter chooses to seek them out when shes a full grown adult then so be it, that is for the future. 😊❤
It’s actually healthier for adopted kids to have a relationship with their biological parents throughout their childhood whenever possible and safe. The vast majority of adoptees WANT a relationship with their bio families and reunification as an adult is exceptionally fragile and difficult. People like yourself who have clearly never been in the situation always have a lot to say about a situation they don’t actually understand and it’s almost always wrong.

Carley doesn't know them that well anyway. Wouldn't surprise me if they attempted to pressure her to be part if their family. I'm sure something happened to make carly feel uncomfortable causing the parents not to allow visits anymore.
Brandon and Teresa don’t use social media to speak out on their frustrations which I’m sure they have some, why is it that Catelynn and Tyler feel the need to be so passive aggressive and outspoken about this situation every other couple of months? You gave up your daughter, it will always hurt you but come on making comments over and over about being shut out is only thinking about your feelings. They need to consider Carly’s feelings in this situation. Respect her privacy, maybe she’s the one choosing this and I think it’s disrespectful to talk about it on social media.

They gave her up when they were confused teens. They didn’t want to give her up. They needed support and they were used. They were part of the agreement and the agreement was open adoption. Otherwise they wouldn’t have done it.
This is what happens when both parties regret the open adoption. Adoptive parents really didn't want open adoption, and Catelynn shouldn't have given up her daughter. Closed adoptions do seem like the best option for a reason.

It was never an open adoption. It was semi open at best. I believe there was an episode where their adoption facilitator once again went over the paperwork they signed.
The adoptive parents were very kind to them in the first couple of years, unfortunately Caitlyn and Tyler seemed to want to be able to post pictures and talk about their daughter and her parents way too much on camera.
I bet if they wouldn’t have included the film crew, and stopped posting on social media about the girl, the parents may have been more receptive about keeping them in their life.

This all started when it was clear Catelynn and Tyler were going to stick to reality TV. Brandon and Teresa were honest that they didn’t want Carly around that. They kept in touch off camera for a bit, but I’m willing to bet the periodic posting about how hard adoption is/how uncooperative Brandon and Teresa were didn’t help. If I were Catelynn and Tyler, and keeping contact with Carly was above all else, they could’ve started with getting off reality television,,and getting normal jobs. They made a choices and have to live with them. The more they bellyache to everyone and their mother, the further away they are pushing Brandon, Teresa, and Carly
I don’t blame the adoptive parents. Her biological parents would probably exploit her for profit. Plus her biological dad is on only fans. That’s embarrassing and not a good example for their child. Let her decide if she wants to be in contact with her biological parents once she turns 18.

Whether people understand or not, adoption is more emotionally detrimental to those involved than abortion. That being said....not too much longer til Carly is 18, everything needs to wait til then.
You have to understand that you give your daughter to someone else and that’s their parents. They decide what they want the best for them for her. You give her away so now you gotta deal with it. They deal with them too bad life is like that.

Serves them right. I'm surprised Cate And Tyler got away with using Carlys name on social media for so long. Carly is not they're daughter and therefore have absolutely no right sharing any info on what's going on between them and Carlys parents.

Carly was probably behind the block. She is old enough to have feelings about her siblings AFTER they have her up. The difference in age is only a few years between her siblings. She is probably getting tired of feeling less than by them. Give her time and space to navigate.

I haven’t followed this for a while but could it be that Carly is at a stage and space where even though she sees her bio parents she is having feelings about the fact that they gave her up but chose to raise 3 others? Maybe them sending pics of the siblings isn’t helping those feelings either.

They are using their platform to try to put a target on the adoptive parents and that is crazy to me. What if a fan sees them in public and harasses them or something bc of this bs they’re always posting? God forbid. Her and Tyler are a bunch of whiny teenagers and need to GROW up and leave that family alone. They should get RESPECTABLE jobs, focus on their family, and let CARLY decide if she wants a relationship with them, because she is old enough where it is now HER CHOICE. If I remember correctly the adoptive parents originally wanted a closed adoption but later changed that. Being public figures I’m sure add complications for Carleys parents don’t want or need. Unfortunately adoptive mom and dad have final say until Carley can make the decision herself. Posting about it on social media isn’t going to help mend it and quicker

So all the flowery talk and empty promises adoptive parents spew to secure these babies is mostly hot air and bs. And for all the people saying she shouldn’t have talked about this on social media and blah blah blah…yes she should have that way she can show others the ugly reality of all of this. If the adoptive parents didn’t want that, weren’t comfortable with it, they should not have sought to adopt a baby in this specific situation.
I’m totally on Catelynn side and I think it’s disrespectful to her that Carly adopted parents are blocking her because the reality is Catelynn is her birth mother and deserves better and deserves number one respect.
Yes but she is not her legal mother. She gave up her rights. I am the mother of an adopted child and he is my son…I am his mother

Also all these ppl with absolutely zero actual experience with adoptions or being adopted running their mouths “they need to leave her alone and if she wants to find them as an adult so be it” need to shut up. You all have zero actual understanding of this issue. Adopted kids are OVERWHELMINGLY better off when they have contact with their birth parents throughout their childhoods whenever it is safe to do so. That is why open adoptions are strongly encouraged these days. Reunification as an adult is exceptionally difficult. If you have not had the experience of being adopted you need to just shut up. You don’t actually know what you’re talking about.

I honestly think Cate and Ty don't mean any harm but they are wrong. Let them parent or do what they want Carly is their daughter I think maybe cate and ty do too much at times. However, if that's true what they're saying about Carly asking questions and wanting to see them yes that's completely wrong on her adopted parent also, she is at the age where she can voice her opinion and say how she feels. Kids don't often tell you how they feel face to face maybe they are simply guarding their daughters (Carly) feelings... And to just put them on blast like this doesn't seem right!

Brandon and Teresa are Carly’s parents at the end of the day. Catelynn just can’t accept that.
She just don't get it yes she's the biological mother but the adoptive parents took her they know they child and what it's best for they child ,although it's not biologically it's their child and they have the right to do whatever they so pleases to do

It’s an issue when the bio parents are on a television show and they think it’s ok to be part of the story line. If they truly wanted a relationship with Carly they would understand that Carly’s parents want privacy for their daughter and family. I’m sure MTV would of worked them into appearing on the show if it was their choice obviously it wasn’t.
It’s a partial open adoption. It’s ultimately up to the adoptive parents how much visitation they want. I am a big watcher of their story on teen mom
