I second older Chicago with Guitarist Terry Kath and 25 or 6 to 4. I can’t recommend it higher than anything that you listen to the live performance at Tanglewood.
Chicago "25 or 6 To 4" live from Tanglewood. Terry Kath is still alive and kicking ass on the guitar for that performance!!!! You WILL NOT be disappointed. You must experience Terry Kath
Another great song from Chicago is Hard Habit To Break. I’m sure you will enjoy it. Supertramp is another group that you might enjoy as well start with The Logical Song.
Old school Chicago when Terry Kath, lead guitarist and vocalist, was alive is more rockin'. Once he passed, they went mellow. Listen to "25 or 6 to 4" , "Beginnings" and "Feeling Stronger Everyday". Their live versions are outstanding...watching him play the guitar is mesmerizing!!
I love Chicago's use of horns. So good. Steely Dan also has great horn parts in songs like Black Cow, Babylon Sisters, and Deacon Blues. Some of Steely Dan's commercial successes are also great: Rikki Don't Lose That Number; Reelin' in the Years; Peg; Do It Again; Hey Nineteen; Dirty Work.
I loved watching your reactions to Chicago. I have been a fan of theirs since 1972. Saw them lice 3 times and they were this real deal. No auto tune,no fancy tricks to make them sound better they at s just awesome. Peter Cetera has one of the mist recognized voices in rock music. You made me feel the music as you listened to the song. Well done sir.
Chicago really had two iterations: when they first came out in 1969 they were known as Chicago Transit Authority, or CTA. Big band sound combined with rock guitar by the amazing Terry Kath, and amazing percussion and vocals. In the 80’s, after Kath’s accidental death at 31, Chicago became known for soft rock love ballads. I much prefer the former. Go back to their debut album. Listen to the song 25 or 6 to 4 ( meaning 25 or 26 minutes to 4 in the morning) that’s how we first heard CTA
Never saw this explanation elsewhere, but to me it means taking LSD-25 from 6 in the evening to 4 in the morning. “25 from 6 to 4”. Just the line “Should I try to do some more 25 or 6 to 4”.

Someone mentioned SUPERTRAMP. SUPERTRAMP was an amazing band , one of those on the next level bands. 2 lead vocals and both play the key boards, and separately harmonica and guitar. For the most part of their catalog, if you are like me, your favorite song will be the one you're listening to. Start with school from the Crime Of The Century album and you will be off to the races. You are getting lots of suggestions to check out songs from Chicago’s 1st work: Chicago Transit Authority. I also recommend them. In fact I recommend the entire 2 record album. If you can do it, give yourself 75 minutes to react to it, I recommend with every ounce of my being you listen to CTA as one work and react to that. This is how we experienced it then. It blew my mind. A friend in High School had been told to listen to it from another friend. She lent hers to him. He then Gushed about it to me. He lent hers to me. I didn’t want to give it back. But she insisted. I bought my own immediately. I became a permanent fan. But you do you!
There is two sides to Chicago there is the earlier Chicago with Terry Kath and the later and lighter Chicago without Terry Kath big difference in the music a must for you to check out is 25 or 6 to 4 Live at Tanglewood 1970 Terry Kath’s guitar will absolutely blow your mind Jimi Hendrix once said he was the greatest guitarist he had heard
Chicago was one of the greatest Jazzrockbands of all time ... while they also had a few kitschy songs. You started with the kitschy version of Chicago. I would suggest you gotta listen to: Chicago "Make Me Smile" Live 1970 Tanglewood.
I'm so glad that you reacted to the whole piece. I follow several other reaction channels but they all just did the first part. THIS ending MAKES THE EXPERIENCE, you heard it., I get so frustrated when others use the clip that fades out on Hard To Say I'm Sorry. Nah, that was a painful injection of saccharine... "80's Chicago" is a fucking pop band. A very good pop band, granted, but still -- just fucking shoot me! lol Next time, do "25 or 6 to 4", it'll set ya right. Then, when you've heard it a few times and love the song, see the Live version where the guitarist shows you why Old Chicago is the very best Chicago! Cheers from Canada! ;-]
I think one of the best love songs is Reason for Waiting by Jethro Tull. However, if you want to go down the Chicago rabbit hole then start with their debut album up to Chicago VII. Sorry but I’m not a fan of some their power ballads.
Just react to Kid Charlemagne by Steely Dan and we will see you in about 3 weeks when get around halfway through the catalogue and haven't left your house.... then I hit Subscribe - see on the other end.
i'd love to see you react to something a bit more 'out there' like 'Oily Way' by Gong or 'White Rhino Tea' by Ozric Tentacles. That would be fun. Better than this this AOR drivel. :)
This is the anemic, easy listening sound Chicago that cane into being after guitar genius Terry Kath. The earlier version was a much better, harder rocking fusion band with killer guitar riffs, amazing drums and vocals,
This is the lame version of Chicago with power ballads. Early Chicago is killer good when they were a rock blues band and their lead guitarist was jimI Hendrix’s favorite. He ended up accidentally shooting himself. Great player and singer. First 5 albums are killer.
Ohhhhh another rabbit hole you’ve fallen into! Ya gotta listen to Chicagos 25 or 6 to 4! Amazing song!

One band you should definitely start to listen to is Nightwish. The genre is Symphonic Metal and they are Finnish but sing in English. They are still touring and do everything from hard metal to metal love songs usually with a symphony track playing in the background. A good start is th-cam.com/video/Lxox2BiLap8/w-d-xo.html
25 or 6 to 4 live. Thank me later!
Nah, that was a painful injection of saccharine... "80's Chicago" is a fucking pop band. A very good pop band, granted, but still -- just fucking shoot me! lol
Next time, do "25 or 6 to 4", it'll set ya right. Then, when you've heard it a few times and love the song, see the Live version where the guitarist shows you why Old Chicago is the very best Chicago! Cheers from Canada! ;-]
Not the Chicago I would have started with… buuuuuut there’s more to come.

Was warned by many about the potential tears regarding versions.... I have never heard them, so I enjoyed this 🙌🙌🙌
