Really?? Oklahoma fans were (and still are) ALL OVER USV social media sites, and your emotional reactions were at the level of a jilted and scorned lover. The emotion displayed by OU fans was far more than simple anger, it was directed toward the new partner of Riley. Look, we get it: no school wants to be shown to be a stepping stone, but all you were was "angry" at Lincoln Riley why write anything on USC boards?? Why would USC fans care about that? No, the only reason fans do that is because they feel they have been jilted by their former lover.

1st year, with all Stoops' players: lost 54-48 (OT) in first round of CFP.
2nd year: reached CFP, fell behind 28-0, lost game 45-34.
3rd year: reached CFP, lost 63-28.
    4th year: missed CFP.

Keep the progression going: 1st year USC, finished 11-3, missed CFP & lost bowl game to Tulane; 2nd year USC: starts off 6-0, struggles containing mediocre offenses, loses 5 of final 6 regular season games, finishing at 7-5. Basically throws away Caleb’s final season. I know this isn’t solely about Caleb but quarterbacks like him don’t come around very often. Any other astute coach would have fired their DC at the end of last season, based on statistics. Not this guy. He’s like some sucker in Vegas betting everything in a poker game with a bad hand. Just stupid…you know you’re a stupid head coach when everyone, and I mean everyone can see the obvious but he can’t. Unbelievable. I want a refund.

    1) You can’t recruit at OU (blaming the institution)
    2) He looked at the other team’s roster in the CFPs and they were better (It’s the players fault).
No man of character ever blamed the organization and/or the players and kept their credibility. There’s been many great leaders maintained their credibility without blaming others such as Jerry Sloan, Marv Levy, Dan Reeves, Bud Grant and the list goes on.

We all know that Lincoln is good on one side of the ball but Finebaum saying he lived off Heisman winners. Uh yeah. He did have a role in that. Anyone think Baker Mayfield was super talented? Jalen Hurts couldn't throw the ball to Alabama's receiving corps and he almost won the Heisman, so give Lincoln credit for developing QBs. That being said I've never seen big time teams in USC and Oklahoma who play ZERO defense in big spots. IF USC didn't get sacks they'd give up 45 points a game. Lincoln can salvage his reputation but has learn football is still won in the trenches. Deion Sanders is learning that the hard way.

The USC defense was horrible last year, but Riley told fans and boosters, be patient, he was going to address the defense in the off-season and through the portal. Well, he finally and too-late got rid of Grinch, and if anything the defense got worse. Maybe that could be blamed on in-season chaos, replacing a DC and his system mid-stream. So we'll see this off-season and know for sure next year if Riley can indeed coach, since there'll be no one else to blame. Lincoln was never in the same category as Brent. Then going to blame that defense on Alex Grich. LINCOLN RILEY FIRED MIKE STOOPS AS HIS DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR AT OKLAHOMA BECAUSE THE DEFENSE WAS AWFUL. MIKE STOOPS COACHED THE DEFENSE FOR BOB STOOPS TEAM IN A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES THAT DIDN’T GIVE UP A SINGLE POINT. After 7 years of being a Head Coach every team Lincoln has coached has been awful on defense.
The 2017 team was predicted by many to win the National Title before Stoops retired and gave the team to Lincoln. A Bob Stoops built team. Lincoln had to phenomenal years with Bob Stoops built teams. He should only be an Offensive Coordinator. Because he can’t build an offensive line to save his life. I’m a UCLA alum and when USC announced that they had hired Lincoln Riley - for $10M a season no less - I did not greet this as good news. LR had a pretty (although slightly mixed) good record at a major football school (Oklahoma). I thought he could really turn SC Around quickly.
And he did and bringing along Caleb Williams made things even better. They lost in the PAC 12 championship game and then completely came apart at the end of the Cotton Bowl and snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. I mean for crying out loud, the had the bleeping game basically won but they managed to lose it. Everything that could go wrong did go wrong for SC.
I was watching the end of the Cotton Bowl and watched USC completely blow it. As a UCLA alum there is no love lost for USC and I was so shocked by the way the game ended that I was giddy with excitement. I still go back and watch the videos up on TH-cam that show the last 5:00 (or so) minutes of that Cotton Bowl game from time to time and I still get a real positive feeling and a little chuckle.
So, long way of saying that I am very pleasantly surprised the way the hiring of LR by The Trojies has turned out so far. After going 11-1 in his first 12 games of his first year at SC he has gone 7-7 since, including an 18 point pasting by my Bruins yesterday.
Not the kind of results SC was expecting from someone who they are paying $10 Million a season. Man, that’s a lot of money!
