Also important to note that this video was made before some patches nerfed/buffed certain bosses in the game, such as Rom and Micolash.

This just shows how subjective difficulty is, I found Rom to be super easy, yet it took me about 20 tries to beat the blood-starved beast...

@@manolinmero its relative. Its definantly not the most tech, but its so long it wears you off, plus the spiders randomly seemed to deal more damage and 1 shot me at 40 vit.
The real bitch was the amygdala, not gonna lie. But ROM was just on ints own league of annoying.
Fun fact. If you have zero insight when you fight the witch of hemwick. Her little shadow monster won't spawn. Making the fight even more pathetic.

sambhav singh insight represents knowledge of the great ones. Another thing that people try to acquire knowledge is eyeballs. The witch is covered in eyeballs she’s collected. Because her abilities mentally effect you, you don’t have her level of knowledge to fight her. Someone could explain it much better than I can, but that’s my interpretation.
Hardest fight in the game for most Americans was trying to pronounce Gascoigne correctly.

Yes indeed. I can consistently beat orphan on either my first, second, or third attempt most of the time but The One Reborn for me is one of my worst matchups

Yeah, I actually have a lot of problems fighting the skeletal orgy beast in Yahargul, but I seen a lot of people say its really easy. On another note, I seen people complain about Paarl, but it only took me one try.

-Beat Cleric Beast first try

Took me and my friend I think over 4p tries to kill Blood Starved beast. We killed the fucking shadows on our first go. How does that make sense?
I decided to play bloodborne again after nearly 5 years since I got it. I was prepared to hate the blood starved beast again until I ended up parrying almost every single attack,
GATAZO funny I had the exact opposite of this my first time through the game Cleric Beast DESTROYED me like 15 times but I ended up killing Blood Starved on my second attempt
I killed cleric beast first try and took me 2 tries to beat blood-starved beast. I’m still playing my first play threw but besides rom, I’ve not died more than 5 times to a boss
I personally found the hunter who spams magic just before the Rom fight to be harder than Rom lol.

Killed Gascoigne and Micolash 1st try, died to cleric beast like 15 times. Rom killed me about 20, and the first executioner like 50 times
Took me like 3 tries to kill gascoigne, and Micolash was just an annoying game of tag(cheese way: don't follow him when he drops down from the balcony, go down the stairs to him instead or if you have Simon's bowblade, you can stand outside of the room and just shoot him down and he won't move)
Died to dark beast pearl a hundred times but killed rom on my first try

I actually found Amelia and Blood-Starved Beast so hard and Rom pretty easy
Yo...if you want easy kills for those two get the flame sprayer with at most 18 Arcane...it demolishes them...but only if you're playing an Arcane build cause I dont wanna tell you how to play your games.
With pungent blood cocktails BSB is objectively the easiest boss in the game

I used a level 6 saw cleaver with fire paper and tore into Rom's ass. I beat him on My 2nd try.
First stage of rom, pop a blood beast pellet and kill all the spiders. Then get at his side and go ham, a charged r2 attack will cancel his teleport and with a full beast metre you can kill him in one cycle
This isn't actually a boss but... the hunter you have to kill to complete Eileen the Crow's quest was the most difficult fight to me.
Shit that felt like a fucking boss fight. You can't even swing your weapon at that dude without him stunning you and the hitting a visceral attack on you. It took me at least 12 tries to beat him!

Martín Burgos That's exactly what happened to me. One more hit would have killed him, then I realised I too have fuck all health left with no blood vials left and before I could as much as blink he shot me with his annoying pistol which killed me.
Martín Burgos if you don't mind cheesing him then get close to the stairs and dodge till he double hands his weapon which does damage to him and run down the stairs quick and he'll run back to his starting place and just slowly die xD
I figured that out on my 2nd play through when I ran away since I didn't think I would win and seen him kill himself.

Father gascoine is responsible for 54% of the players that abandon the game.
The trophy (Father Gascoigne), which unlocks immediately after defeating him the first time, is labeled as "rare", with only 45.9 percent of players who own the game having unlocked it.
Bloodborne was my first souls type game i ever played.
Honestly, it took me over 10 tries to kill gascoine. I had his human phase nailed to a key, but i ended up getting pissed and yeeting 8 molotovs at his pupper form and ending the fight right there.
It's actually more than 54%. 54% is the failure rate compared to the number of players that have /played/ the game, rather than the number that abandoned the game. Also, (the game). Sorry. Did it to myself. Rules are rules.
To get that figure, just glancing at the endings, the most common one is 14.7% - so 85.3% of all players (or less, because we're only taking one ending into consideration - actual completion rate could be anywhere from 14.7% to 23.9%, which is the figure for beating mergo's wet nurse) abandon the game before reaching an ending. This would be calculated with 54.3 / 85.3 (the Gascoigne trophy is actually at 45.7% now) rather than 54.3/100.
So the actual percentage of players /that have abandoned the game/ who have never beat Gascoigne is somewhere between 63.7% and 71.3% - the low end being the assumption that all players who complete the game got the most common ending, and the high end being the assumption that all players that beat mergo's wet nurse went on to get any ending (which is probably much more likely).
So, nearly 70%.

With bloodborne being my first soulsborne game ever I honestly took me a month of non stop trying to kill him. I think I was like level 15 and only did my strength stat. I have learnt alot more with my next game.
I may be mistaken since it's been quite a while since I played Bloodborne (it was my first souls type game too btw) but I killed him first try somehow... I found other bosses much harder
I never played a souls type game either. I think it was just luck, but I managed to kill Gascoigne on my first attempt. I know someone who's a huge Dark Souls fan and quit Bloodborne after dying a couple of times at Gascoigne. Toughest boss for me was Gehrman. I kept timing my shots wrong the first few tries, not thinking that I could open him up for a visceral attack. After about 8 times, I figured out that it was all about the timing lol. I then did blood vial farming and once I acquired about 60 odd vials, I faced him again and beat him immediately... the farming was not necessary hahaha

It's a shame that the only truely interesting boss after Gascoigne is Gherman. Artistic lead and gothic design are dope tho
I’m in the very small minority that found Gascoigne to be easier than the Cleric Beast. Werewolf form has such little health and really hates molotovs

2 years late but my first time i quit bcuz of him. I died to him a couple times no big deal but then i relised that i had to farm for blood vials. Ya i thought it was kinda bs. Glad i went back tho
Many of the game mechanics are sadly very clunky and unbalanced.
I love the game for its story, designs and atmosphere, though.
Chalice dungeon bosses are what broke me initially. The flaming dog was very difficult and the cursed chalice amygdala was the absolute worst for me, it took me a few months to finally return and destroy amygdala with the axe.
I kept getting stomped on. Eventually I just stopped standing under her and killed her from the outside. First or second try that way and it was over. I easily feel your frustration.

One of the amazing aspects of this game is that difficulty of the bosses vary for each player, the thing is that the fucking hunters are way harder than some bosses, I love this game.

Unless you have the threaded cane, which the hunters' AI's just have no idea how to deal with. Makes the less-easily staggered enemies just awful though, especially in the early game. It's neat how pick-your-own-difficulty this game is :)
Exactly. I spent almost 3 straight hours to beat the Blood Starved Beast while I killed Rom at my first attempt
I hate the npc hunters it takes so many hits to kill them but they can kill you in like 3-4 normals and have seemingly infinite quicksilver bullets. It's the most unbalanced crap ever
Gabriel Lucena bro I spent like 5 hours plus on the BSB an rage quit the game which I haven't done since my first attempt at Dark Souls.
Interesting thing with the BSB is that it's a great challenge for new players, but a relatively easy fight for those who know how to fight it.
BSB and FG both force you to nail your timing and parrying early in the game but also allow you to use your environment to your advantage.
I mean, you can say that about pretty much every boss.
@@TheMcZioms Nah not entirely, it's more of a spectrum. Some bosses are hardly easier the second time you fight them, others can turn from ridiculously hard to completely trivial.
I think this wildly depends on a few aspects of the boss, where something like tight dodge windows and aggressive behavior is something you deal with very well from having played against them a lot, while attacks that demand very high reaction time tend to be a little harder to deal with between playthroughs. And then there's any sorts of uncontrollable RNG behavior, which hardly provide any patterns learn in the first place. The more RNG dependence a boss has, the harder they will be on replay.
Which is likely precisely why Rom is so much higher than BSB on this list.
Funny thing is that I had a harder time fighting him on NG+. I was careful when new. Almost too careful. Overprepping and equipping stuff. On NG+, i haphazardly attempted to defeat him cuz I felt like I’m strong enough to tank a bit of damage and deal / rally it back twofold, but MAN i forgot that he had a cheapshot that whittles your health to half AND can spam it to no end. That and the poison humbled me and got me back to my careful playstyle.
It's even easier if you ignore her, buy the chief hunter's emblem, go through most of the game, then come back and kill the blood starved beast. Which is what Albino did here and why the BSB died so fast. You can see he has roughly the same stats and insight as when he fought the One Reborn which is an endgame boss. Any boss is a piece of cake when you're grossly overleveled with an upgraded weapon.
Quick tip for Rom: kill all the spiders first, and then lay into her. When you see her starting to teleport, throw a Molotov at her- this will stagger her and stop her from teleporting. Lay into her and throw another Molotov if she tries to disappear again. Keep repeating till she's dead

+Jonathon Hopper I ran in there with a hunters axe, 3 fire papers and 4 Molotov's. Didn't get hit bc i kept dodging left. Throw a Molotov at a distance and up close use heavy attacks with fire paper and its health just melts away

I feel like Father Gascoigne is a lot harder for Souls veterans than for people who started with Bloodborne. Cleric Beast is basically the same a Dark Souls boss, but Gascoigne is distinctly Bloodborne, the strategies you're bringing over from Dark Souls just don't really work here.
Why is that? There are a ton of bosses like that in DS. Little bigger then u and almost faster then u. Pontif? Gwyn?

Luka Male if you're used to a different form of gameplay/combat in a game then it could take a little while to get used to it, especially if you get rely on using tactics from the other games. I'm just saying that I had the same problem moving over especially with Gascoigne as an early boss.

Julianadowns martyr logarius was the toughest one for me... on ng+ and ng+2 i summoned help cause after few tries i was not in the mood for the same pain i endured to beat him alone on the first playthough... and the easiest one i think was mergo's wet nurse... i beat it including ng+2 always at first try.
antonio sp Yeah he was also a pain in the ass for me, on my ng I killed him by myself but on ng+ summoned 2 friends to help me, cause he was almost impossible lol we killed him quickly with a lot of visceral attacks, but he's really tough
:) yeah i noticed he can be stunned quite easily with a high bloodtinge or even interrupting his attack... but idk why, even when i successful performed some criticals on him, i kept failing... and believe me it took me a lot of tries to beat him even in the first walkthough. few bosses, even in DS, caused that much trouble :)

Just finished my platinum trophy today. At some point chalice dungeons almost made me cry. Worst part about it is that fighting Rom in the tiny ass room is not even the worst thing that happened. Actually 1-cycled that fucker on my second attempt but yeah. Every boss that you had to fight before Yharnam was so much harder, she felt like a joke. Just to name a couple: pthumerian elder, abhorrent beast, headless bloodletting beast or even the stupid watchdog in defiled chalice that charges at you upon entering the arena... Glad I‘m done with it now :D

Of the main game bosses, I feel like it is necessary to distinguish between first playthrough and subsequent ones.
In your first playthrough, Father Gascoigne likely is the hardest because it hits you when you're still adjusting and forces you to adapt to the playstyle necessary for the game.
In subsequent playthroughs when you already know what to do, then Rom is probably the biggest obstacle, because it is just one of those bosses that you can be doing everything right against and a bit of bad luck just one shots you.
I'll say the same with Blood-Starved Beast. That guy was VERY hard on my first time around. (It made me realize that locking on to enemies was a thing) But when I fought it in the chalice dungeons, I just parried over and over again and the fight was over in a breeze.
I agree with you but I would love to make some personal points.
For me, in the main game the only two bosses that are hard are the BSB and Logarius. Logarius is probably the second best fight after María in the entire game, and the change of pace from range mage to quick fighter is godly.
If we are talking about the game as a whole, Orphan, Ludwig first phase, Laurence and his HUMONGUS health bar are very hard... But the Flaming Dog in the cursed chalice, and after that the Amygdala in that room were nightmares. Props to Loran Black Beast for instakilling you with the jump just after you enter the door

Unlike the other bosses, Rom is a test of patience. She takes everything Gascoigne forced you to learn and shoves you back into Dark Souls 2. I would highly recommend taking out her spiders first. They’re weak on their butts and when they do that devastating launch attack, they can be insta killed so long as you hit them while they’re sitting on their heads. Do not lock onto anything until you’re certain you’re alone with her.
As for the meteors, that’s her most dangerous attack. She’ll spam it at long-mid range. When you hear the “whoosh” noise, stop whatever it is you’re doing and sprint counter-clockwise. I promise then they won’t hit you.
She has another attack where she’ll lay on her back and launch meteors from beneath. That one’s a bit easier to avoid as you need only leap away a few paces or hug her closely. Another one is a pretty tough AoE, but that one is fairly easy to avoid. Her flail attacks are more annoying than threatening.
She’s very weak to bolt and arcane damage, and her head is the strongest part of her body.
I taught myself this strategy because I too had immense difficulty with her my first playthrough. I hope this information helps anyone else who might be struggling, ESPECIALLY in the Chalice Dungeons... *shudder*
I always ignored the spiders, thinking that they'll regenerate (I just dribble them like a Brazilian football player), are you saying that you can kill them all?

@@joelrichardson5139 Now that I've honed my tactic against Rom, I must say that you should kill only the first swarm of spiders.
Especially in the dungeons: after you take a certain amount of energy from Rom she'll teleport, but if you're alone with her, you can take your time to do a charged R2 at the right moment: i.e. when she's almost completely disappeared. By doing that you will interrupt her teleportation, and you'll have a couple of seconds more to do even more damage (your stamina probably won't allow you to charge another R2 though), anyways, by doing this you can take up to 75% of her energy just in the first phase.
In the second phase, due to the meteor strikes (and the fact that she'll have little energy left) killing the spiders is actually more dangerous than leaving them alive, so better learn from Ronaldo and dribble the spiders.

***** Well he was tough for me because he was the first legit boss of BloodBorne who threw off the more slower and tactical playing style of the previous souls games and taught us that you really have to FIGHT for REAL in this game to survive. Bosses like Gascoigne , Abhorrent Beast , Gherman , etc are hard as if in the sense of a REAL FIGHT.
While Bosses like Logarius are hard as if in the sense of being OP and SPAMMING.

You are describing content which you obviously discover through walkthroughs. Spare us the pro attitude..

You already mentioned some parts where you did look at a walkthrough in your vid. These parts mostly can't be missed by a player playing on his own so the conclusion is that you looked almost everything else (Castle, cords, clinic etc, etc).
You have a "these things are common knowledge" attitude in your vid which is completely unfitting for a guy that didn't acquire the knowledge on his own in the first place.
Don't bother with the "I finished the game 4 times" card. I can spot a player that reads his way through souls titles from a mile away. It's always the exact same attitude since the mid 00's:P

Nikos A I'm just not sure of the relevance of which parts I did or didn't look up. After a couple playthroughs you want to see what you've been missing, so you look for the knowledge. If youre having trouble with Rom: in the docile phase kill all the spiders then lay into the side of Rom. This should get Roms health down to roughly half. In the second phase RUN. Dont worry about the spider ads. When Roms too half comes up just run fast and around the area. When you can see an opening where you can get to Roms side take it. (Go at a 45° angle to his side) then lay into him with only light attacks so you can move fast. Repeat and its very easy.
Also dont forget that The first time Rom tries to telaport do a fully charged heavy attack to keep Them there for another turn of ass beating. Saves alot of time
You can also use a beast blood pellet before killing the spiders and equip a heavy weapon like the kirkhammer or holy blade as your second weapon, assuming you're not already using one of them as your main weapon. Kill the spiders fast enough and you'll have a good amount of time before the pellet expires plus most of the gauge filled up, then wail on Rom with everything you got until she starts doing the teleport animation, at which point you switch to your secondary heavy weapon, transform it and do a charged R2. The R2 will stun her and interrupt the teleport, letting you wail on her some more. You can't interrupt her again but you'll either deal enough damage that you'll kill her in one cycle or leave her with very low hp in the second phase, making things easier.

In the interview with Hidetaka Miyazaki found in the Official Guide, Mizayaki was asked what his favorite boss was. His answer was Rom. But that in itself, while interesting, was not very striking. However the specifics of his response were… unexpected. “I really like her. There are some oddly cute aspects to her moves and modeling.”

Ernest Mil Papa G is very difficult first going into the game, but since you fight Logarius at a later point, he's a lot more easy since you know the game well, you know how to dodge. Simple. Papa G was very hard for me but I beat dark souls 1, and 2 at least 3 times. (I also beat dark souls 3 but at the time, it wasn't out yet).

I found blood starved beast to be harder to kill than the father, and didn't find rom that hard tbh. Just kill all his spiders first, don't get greedy and run to the left when he shoots meteors.

Why is everyone saying Rom was easy? It took me like 14 tries to beat him with 2 NPCs. It almost made me quit the game completely.
Dont rush the fight, bait the spiders (by making them follow you and leave rom) so you can make a spider free opening behind rom and then just go in hit him a few times go back and repeat. Easiest boss fight ever

yeah, it's all about how you fight her. first, wipe the baby spiders. second, burst damage Rom and make sure to interrupt the teleport - all tricks go as long as you get the stagger. do this twice and she dies without touching you
i just sorta ran around him and whenever he lifted his head up, i just started running to dodge meteors and then ran to one of the spiders for a quick hit and then back to step 1.
I have been watching this video every 6 months or so for the last 5 years or so. i don't know what it is about bloodborne that just always peaks my interest to check up on it. this game truly deserves a continuation in some way. thank you sunburn albino :)

you can stun Rom with the canon as he starts his teleport animation, then you have about 10 seconds to get more hits in before he starts his teleportation again, where you can shoot him again and have another 10 to 15 seconds of free damage to give. Don't see alot of people using that strategy, eventhough it makes Rom a pretty easy boss.

Dude you're so funny! Have you tried the Rom in the Lower Pthumerian Chalice Dungeon? The arena is about 1/3 the size of the regular one and he spams the magic attack. Its the worst thing ever.

Its great that the bosses are different for everyone. Shows how our fighting strategies are different. Gascoigne was tough for me where as Vicar Amelia was easy so far. Hemwick Witch was easy but took me a few tries to figure out there was two of the cunts. And the Blood starves bashed me for hours.

It took me 1 try to beat logarious on the first playthrough, but I was already far off in the game because I had no idea cainhurst even existed till my friend told me. Was already wearing a +10 ludwig at that point so the fight ended pretty quickly.
Sounds sweet, I went in there being level 33 with practically no defense. Ebrietas on the other hand, I already had Bone Ash Armor and was level 70

Rom was the epitome of old school style boss fight which rewards patience, he was extremely easy once you identify his attacks. I would say Martyr Logarius was in his own realm of difficulty, definitely the hardest boss by a long shot. Only boss that I had to use almost 20 blood viles to beat.

Problem With that is most people are in ng 1 by which they have around 90 insight I’m ng 7 and I have over 500 insight and I’m not about to throw it away for an easy fight. Lol

It's funny that after however many times I've watched this video that I only just realized SA didn't include the hunters from Eileen's quest-line, which is fine, of course, but Cainhurst hunter in the Grand Cathedral kills me more than any other enemy in the game. I have to imagine Eileen sitting outside the cathedral bleeding and just watching me run by in one direction over and over again comically trying to beat the guy.

BSB is the easiest boss of the whole game. I found Rom more difficult than Orphan of Kos.
Dog of the old Lord's in the defiled chalice dungeons was the toughest for me, it took me days before I figured him out

I'm embarrassed to admit I actually had to try multiple times for Micolash and Celestial Emissaries. Any boss fight with multiple opponents is a hard one for me. I guess I'm just bad at tracking multiple enemies. Probably also why I didn't find Orphan of Kos super hard either? You could parry him and he was only one enemy to keep your eyes on. Rom was just ridiculous for me. I kept dying and when I finally beat her I felt super lucky, not super skilled. You can't imagine my sheer hatred when I opened that door in the chalice dungeons only to see her stupid face again. And yes I died a bunch of times to her in the chalice dungeons as well.

I think everyone has a different experience with each boss. Some bosses have easy exploits. Some bosses die easier with certain weapons or enhancements.

@@biwart All beast type enemies are weak to the saw cleaver or saw spear cause they have a hidden damage mechanic to them called serration which does 20% bonus damage to beast

I think it’s a testament to the quality of difficulty in this game that everyone has different views on what is the easiest (other than the witches) and the hardest, it’s not as clean cut as in the other souls games.

To be honest I found Darkbeast and The One Reborn harder than Rom. I found Rom very predictable. He signalled his attacks very well and the tonitrus did work on him.
Th one reborn is somewhat reminiscent of the tower knight from demon's souls: you have to kill the mages around the arena prior to attack him.

I dunno why my friends hate the tonitrus. I like it... But half of my deaths are because of me charging the weapon during fights. They make quick work against the weird mushroom dudes too.

@@jamesmijares6366 The biggest problem with the Tonitrus is the durability. If you have the electric charge up on and you're fighting you can pretty much get it to a quarter of durability.
putting blood starved beast low without mentioning blood cocktails surprised me lmao, seeing everyone’s attempts here is interesting though. For me rom was the only boss I really died to all that often on my first run. Vicar Amelia was probably the easiest and fastest for me.
I love how it varies from person to person. I beat padre gasoline on the first try but then I somehow almost died to the witch of hemwick boss because I didn’t know what I was doing. If I actually had I think I’d be a little upset
