Over forty years later this is is still talked about here. This and the woman from the "Throwing off Place". My mom was supposed to be there when it happened but had to work.
I remember when this happened. I was a teenager and it was scary to think that murderers were hanging out in Ashe. There was also some talk of the victims being pushed in alive. What a terrible way to die. If they didn’t die in the fall just to lie in pain until you finally died. Remember the Nashville Flame wrote a song and performed it around the county.

Thanks for watching!
What a terrible shame for such a beautiful town and others.
The effects of evil are felt far and wide. 😥
Reading this book! I highly recommend it.

This old news report references the song but I could not find a version of the actual song on TH-cam. th-cam.com/video/35eveg0zaAI/w-d-xo.html

It’s so chilling to think of being tossed in a hole like that, never to be recovered. Just sealed down there for all eternity…
I agree! Pretty horrible! There is no telling how many bodies are down there.
Gary Miller was actually from watauga county. I think he later became a preacher in prison
Lonnie Gamboa was my father, sad this happened
