It is funny how you said that, because that was the case over 30 years ago. I knew 2 people back when I lived in NJ, who went to WVU. Also, heard about other people from the more rural parts of NJ who attended there. Morgantown cannot be too much more than 4 hours away from areas within NJ.
I like it when you take risks and get out and talk to real people, even when they make no sense. And I like all the shots of "how this place looks today," whether good or bad. I like that you ask tough questions, and admit that you don't have the answers, either.
In 2022, West Virginia had a firearm death rate of 16.2 per 100,000 people, which is in the bottom half of the country. This is higher than New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, California, Illinois, Texas, and Florida. West Virginia also has the 31st-highest rate of gun homicides and gun assaults in the US, with 5.2 homicides and 7.2 assaults per 100,000 people.
We have seen Trump's typical lunch menu (McDonalds). Like my neighbors grandchildren, Trump treats his food in a similar fashion: 'Donald Trump threw his lunch against the wall after AG Bill Barr said there was no widespread election fraud, ex-White House aide testifies." Barr has not disputed the event. This country is finished until some people find the courage to acknowledge crime and treason (regardless of party).
West Virginia has lots of charm and contrasts. One of the most beautiful states in america. I love that there's run down and abandoned places and that the cities didn't grow since the 1950s because that means they didn't tear town the old building and didn't replaced them. The small and mid size mountain towns are beautiful.
The smartest ppl I've met are the ones going to trades or aren't in college. Yeah, I don't know what's going on with college students? I guess college just ripped them off for money?

I’ve met the female politician that you are talking about and she’s Danielle Walker. I went to school there for 4 years and worked at Kroger for a year while there. I wish the homeless problem in Morgantown was addressed. Or the problem of many businesses not surviving long especially if not near campus. I have friends that have lived in Morgantown since birth. It also may be the most democrat place in WV but I’ve ran into the most conservative people in Morgantown.
@@dr5910 I’ve heard but this video seems to gear differently It’s a mix between the two for most democrat. I have a friend from the Shepherdstown area and she had openly conservative teachers but no openly democrat teachers. My friend also went to school in Morgantown for 4 years too.
It is all good. We were all 18 at some point but what I've learned is that as you age you can take you're life experience good and bad and gain some wisdom. When you gain that wisdom share it with others in a positive way without making others feel like shit. That being said don't close you're ears to others that have been there before you. If you don't look at the past now and then you'll probably make the same mistakes in the future
Well Morgantown sure seems different than the rest of the state. Most of the people I meet in WV are kind, caring, and would take the shirt off their own back to give to you. Same for eastern KY. But maybe I'm saying that just because of the circles I'm in. I say it doesn't really matter what part of the country you're in, you're going to run into some crazy people - and some very kind people.
From my little experience I had with WV, people are very kind and caring. My car was broken down in WV in a road trip last year. I went to different car parts stores looking for parts that I needed. Everyone I encountered is very nice and caring. They made sure I got everything I needed. Despite, I'm Asian and speak broken English, they are still very nice and kind to help me out.
@@engrishsheep That's wonderful! Yes, I had a similar experience here in KY about 5 min from WV. My truck fell off its ball joint here in the Kroger parking lot, and within 5 minutes or less, several men came out of nowhere, got on their backs and proceeded to give me several different opinions of what was wrong. Two women even came up to me and told me they would pray for me. There are so many good and kind people here. And of course, the people in my church are super friendly.
My god I know that guy at the beginning of the video. He washed dishes at a restaurant I used to work out. Dude has had an incredibly difficult life so don’t judge him off that encounter.
I mean a lot of them grew up in poverty, Giving them benefit of the doubt someone's view can be pretty hostile to a country or place that has just forgotten about them. Plus the fact rising prices and stagnate wages don't help encourage any patriotism.

The bottom line is… when you hand out free money, people will accept, and get use it, and eventually depend on it. Conservative or liberal doesn’t matter. The Redist of the red small towns in Appalachia, VERY HIGH percentage of people accept govt hand outs. The Bluest of the blue LA county and San Fran… high percentage on govt handouts. If you offer it, people will accept it… on BOTH sides.
What the hell? As a foreigner who is completely unaware of the whole problem he seems to have with West Virginians, all I see is one classist guy being mean to people who are just living their lives in his hometown. What a shame!
My wife and I visited Morgantown and other parts of WV last year from the west coast. Definitely a very poor state but all the people were nice, and the food was awesome. Peruvian chicken was a total win, some of the best fried chicken of my life, ate trout almondine which was excellent and best Mexican food of my life, and that's after living 40 years in CA which has top notch Mexican grub. Greetings from Brazil, man! I'm absolutely addicted to your channel. It is very good to see all of the nuances in american culture and politics while comparing to Brazil. I've once heard someone say the U.S. is going through a "Brazilification", specially in the most liberal areas, which I agree, since most liberal areas tend to have more lenient criminal laws (like not arresting people that steal goods up to a certain price tag, here in Brazil there isn't legislation about it, but the court system "legislates" on its own even though we come from a Civil Law [Roman tradition] background isntead of a Common Law [Anglo tradition] like you) but on that note, Brazil has been going through a Americanization process with more people fighting for individual freedoms, the right to bear arms, a more open economy, less state, etc. People here are getting more educated on libertarianism and confronting those ideas with the ideas imposed on us ever since our monarchy fell and the tide is turning. Whereas we used to have elections leaning almost 80% towards the left, the last 2 elections basically ended 51/49. Let's see what the future holds for us, brother. This october I'll go to Canada and I hope to travel to the U.S. someday, love your culture and history and I always wanted to get to know the real USA, as shown in your videos. Keep it up. Stay strong. Take care. And as brazilians always say on the internet: COME TO BRAZIL haha

Sort of off topic, but as a native Brazilian what year would you say Brazil changed for the worse? As in how many years now has Brazil been considered “more dangerous” by outsiders? I’m fascinated by Rio de Janeiro and am curious what caused brazils overall decline besides bad laws / drugs. Christ the redeemer overlooking a crime ridden city is bizarre to me.

Yes I think Maine would be especially interesting the further away from where the rich folk have their summer homes, into the land of thick forests, lakes, and mosquitos; and to the somewhat French speaking towns along the border. Everyone asking why I would move from there to PA. In Arizona I had no idea they hated Californians but I got the feeling immediately to take off those plates and I did. Maybe it was the glares. This is a great video and shows real perspective. There's nothing wrong with being a liberal or conservative, but we got the far reaches of each side in powerful places trying to dictate there views that are outside the norms of both groups and "normal" people in general.
The problem we have with liberals is that most of them have views (and vote) against the constitution and what this country was founded on. So many of them just virtue signal the latest "current thing" in the BlackRock/Vanguard-owned media. Then they vote themselves into insane taxes and then flee to cheaper states, then do it all over again like locusts. I've lived all over the country and have seen it happen over and over again... He's really talking about the cost of living but can't really explain himself. Just my opinion after watching him
I had to laugh about that too. College kids don't buy their own eggs, so they have no clue. I should know, I have a college kid who loves eggs and thinks they magically appear in the refrigerator.

It is funny how you said that, because that was the case over 30 years ago. I knew 2 people back when I lived in NJ, who went to WVU. Also, heard about other people from the more rural parts of NJ who attended there. Morgantown cannot be too much more than 4 hours away from areas within NJ.

The one guy sitting there talking about Joe being out to lunch has a good understanding overall.
We have seen Trump's typical lunch menu (McDonalds). Like my neighbors grandchildren, Trump treats his food in a similar fashion: 'Donald Trump threw his lunch against the wall after AG Bill Barr said there was no widespread election fraud, ex-White House aide testifies." The average 18 year old doesn't understand shit about almost anything outside of their bubble. The law might call you an adult but 18 is a kid.
It is all good. We were all 18 at some point but what I've learned is that as you age you can take you're life experience good and bad and gain some wisdom. When you gain that wisdom share it with others in a positive way without making others feel like shit. That being said don't close you're ears to others that have been there before you. From my little experience I had with WV, people are very kind and caring.
My car was broken down in WV in a road trip last year. I went to different car parts stores looking for parts that I needed. Everyone I encountered is very nice and caring.
Keep it up.

I think they feel the same way here in Arizona. A "civilized" state. When I moved to Pennsylvania my California plates were my ticket to a great conversation.
Finally a level headed comment
The problem we have with liberals is that most of them have views (and vote) against the constitution and what this country was founded on. So many of them just virtue signal the latest "current thing" in the BlackRock/Vanguard-owned media. Then they vote themselves into insane taxes and then flee to cheaper states, then do it all over again like locusts. I've lived all over the country and have seen it happen over and over again... Republicans suck too though, and "conservative" politicians haven't conserved a single thing.
