Dude im seriously impressed. I thought you were just learning certain phrases like most people do. For example : ich hätte gerne ... Youre on a really good way to speaking damn good german. Keep up your work and its gonna get easier every day.

Marius Werheid ...Oh' that doesn't sound like Silas would forget to mention!... Are you sure you wrote your name inside the cover? He is so appreciative about things like that! 😞

0:13 - Honestly, it's great that you're not hesitant to tell someone that they are speaking too fast, because that doesn't really help when you're still learning German (or any language for that matter). Respect for that! :)

Your German progress is insane! But here is a little tip: It might seem a little inpolite if you speak with random people wearing sunglasses. Its not a big deal or something, but if a random person can look you in the eyes while speaking to you its way more pleasureable for them! I am living near Marburg and I'm very often there. I think my English is decent, so we could meet sometimes.

    • @Rovax1994
      @Rovax1994 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

True that. Germans often find it unpolite to war glasses or a hat etc. in talk.

"What do you do for fun" = "Was machst du (oder was tust du) generell, um Spaß zu haben?" ; "Was macht dir Spaß in deiner Freizeit?"; "Was sind deine Hobbys? " You neither ask "Was machst du für Spaß?", nor "Was machst du zum Spaß?". But hey, you've made good progress in such a short time, keep up the good work! Thumbs up for your wife as well, she's got a real good pronunciation. 👌👍

The Group of teenagers did Appel & Ei (Apple and Egg) where you and your group get an apple and an egg and try to exchange it for something more valuable by trading and trading again. Its alot of fun and gets you to interact with people. - and sometimes you get something really valuable if you trade often enough :-)

The reason why the ceiling is not so high, in the past a high ceiling meant a "luxury live" or for better understanding it meant wealth. Only "rich" people had high ceilings. Its common in old Fachwerkhäuser.

Hey man, I just discovered your channel and I am very surprised because I am living only 10 minutes away from Marburg :D In the first place it was beyond me that there are people that are so excited about Germany but it reminded me that the things in my life that I consider to be just normal are quite special for people from other countries. Anyway I´m glad that you showed me that my country isn´t as boring and unappealing as I perceive it. Keep on going and have a nice time here in Germany!

Silas, you need to order "FILTERKAFFEE" to get what you want. A normal Coffee which is not too strong. 15 years ago you only got this coffee in Germany, but since Starbucks and Vollautomaten, the Filterkaffee almost dissapeared.

😉 Have fun and a great time in germany, boy!

Another good advice to learn a language is to watch TV shows like Wheel of Fortune (Glücksrad), The Price is right (der Preis ist heiß), Family Feud (Familien-Duell). I know that these are pretty bland and not very demanding shows, but since they follow the same routine in every country they can help a lot to catch up with common phrases and basic vocabulary.

I lived in such an old house for two years and I liked being directly in the center and old town. But I'm tall and the ceilings often are very low so it was quite uncomfortable and because of that I prefer more modern houses to live in. All those old houses in the Oberstadt have been carefully renovated and are part of the historical heritage.
Yes, Marburg is like a village because when You walk through the town You always meet people You know. I Ioved this.

This is by far my favourite video of yours. And that means a lot as I love all of your videos! Your German skills are VERY impressive (and Kaytlin's, too!). Keep it up.
Übung macht den Meister / Practice makes perfect (it's not the literal translation tho, it's more like a german phrase which literally translates into something like "practice transforms you into a Master/Expert")

to be honest, those medieval houses arent the average in germany. Those are protected houses because they are historic, you cant tear them off. Those houses are part of the historic city. Other areas have modern houses as well, the majority of houses in germany are modern

You can ask for Filterkaffee if you don't want those strongy tiny cups :) sometimes in fancier restaurants, they don't have it, but whatever. 😁
