Excellent clear concise instruction demonstrated accordingly to convey the technique to his students , no frills bells or whistles just put in every language with no ambiguous cleche’s thank you
Zach is the best! He taught me the dead hand wedge a few years ago and I was playing my best golf then. Somehow I drifted away from it. This video brought it all back. It's so simple and reliable and gives you 3 shots that let you do anything you want around the green.
I’m so glad I came across your channel it’s opened my mind to so many things to work on truly thankful I’ve been playing for 7 years and just now shooting 88 to 90 hoping to get better agai thank you . Ps your instructor is really on point no bs and understandable. Jose
When my short game gets bad, I can usually track the problem to not enough turn in my upper body in the follow through. I think about my chest following the target line through the swing and then pointing at the target when I finish. That and good rhythm will get you a long way.
This just changed the way I thought about short game. It really makes things simple and cancels out so many swing thoughts before chipping the ball. I’m going to use every ounce of this. Liked and subscribed!! Much love!
Thank you so much brother! Dude my short game has gotten sooooo good since this lesson. I used to hate practicing my short game and this technique made it fun because of how simple it is. I will warn you to make sure you practice off different slopes. It just takes a little practice but you’ll be able to adapt the same technique in up hill and down hill situations
@@ErndogGolf I hated practicing too, it just felt really inconsistent for me and too many variables in striking the ball. This is much more repeatable! Still trying to fix the slice on my driver but I’ll get there.
@@ErndogGolf I did, I had a little trouble grasping the drill. I’m gonna rewatch it to see if I can find a trigger that helps my brain process it more. I felt like I didn’t accomplish much on my first time trying it but that’s what practice is for I guess! lol!
Oh I love that feel! What resonated the most with me was when Zach said to feel like I’m swinging in slow motion. That’s done wonders for my short game
I only hit my 56* in this video! Dude, that practice facility at Bridlewood is insane. They have so many hitting bays, two short game areas, a massive putting green. It’s always packed with people practicing too! A lot of juniors are out there which is amazing to see! Unfortunately it’s about an hour from my home, so I only go out there for lessons
Shouldn't another key to this first shot be standing closer to the ball? I have been using this technique recently with huge improvement and standing closer raises the handle/grip and slightly takes the heel of the club slightly off the ground
How do you feel the distance control is on these? I was trying to do it at home and it felt goofy, like I really had to turn my body hard to get anything more than 10 yards. I'm used to using more hand action to "feel" the shot a little better, and using all torso makes it feel different than any other golf swing.
Hey Luke! Honestly it has done wonders for me for controlling distance. It kinda makes me feel like I’m lobbing the ball up to a spot. In the very beginning when he’s showing me how he would throw a ball is a good visual. The distance of your shot will be determined by the length of your backswing, so taking a longer backswing and seeing how that feels!
In your Chip shot are you using any wrist bending at all? Also in the high soft Lob shot where you are both wider & hands lower do you use the wrists more for this shot?..I did pick up Zach said on this higher Lob shot to concentrate on a longer but slower speed...do you still keep your hands very quiet.
Thanks for watching! His name is Zach Berhow and teaches out of Bridlewood in the Dallas area. He’s the freaking man and my golf game has been getting progressively better! Check out my other videos with him. His instagram is ZachBerhow.instruction I also linked his website in the description
i have found this technique is not as successful on non bermuda /zoysia courses and out of the rough...but chipping liking putting has to work for you and what gives you most confidence...it's all about practice, repetition and what works under pressure for you
That’s a really great point! I think there are some fundamentals that will still apply like weight forward, ball position, good tempo. I agree though, I find myself having to get a bit more handsy out of the rough!
Dude you absorb this info like a sponge! I think getting professional teaching from beginning is the way to go, anyone reading this, get your kids professional coaching from the beginning so they learn the correct techniques from the get-go rather than ingraining bad techniques that need to be reversed that takes years!
Thanks man! Yeah Zach is so good at teaching that it’s hard not to absorb it quickly. I agree, learning the fundamentals from a professional at young age goes a long way!
So were you using the same wedge for all three shots? I struggle with distance control and I’m trying to figure out the limits of each wedge loft. If that makes sense? 🏌🏻♂️
i like this coach's style. quick, direct, simple, then go.

This probably the best greenside shot lesson i have seen.

That low shot set up if fantastic and so accurate with a 60 all the way up to the 9 iron for me.
Zac is great. I wished I lived in Texas! Keep grinding, Erndog.

Love this lesson. This guy has had the best coaching.

Great video! And Zach's explanation is awesome and will be referring back to your video. That ball came in hot at 5:20 where's the head's up! 😂
Hahahahahahah dude I had totally forgotten about that!!!
Yeah great tip, this works for me. I kinda feel that the club head and handle move together with the body back and through.

Fantastic video. Great format. Great coach.
Thank you Rob! Zach is the man!
Solid lesson! Thanks for sharing. Subscribed to your channel.
Thank you very much!
Turned out nice! Thanks Ernie!
Thanks Zach! I shot my personal best front 9 at Texas Star and this technique helped a ton with that! Can’t wait for our next lesson!
I caught the bug this year. Great video, can't wait to try this out tomorrow. Subscribed!
Thanks so much! Let me know how it goes!
Wow,this coach is good!
Yeah man, he’s the man! Check out some of my full swing lessons too. He’s transformed my swing in 3 months
Just great coaching
Great lessons, i have learned a lot by watching them. I am curious, what does he mean by thumbs on the bottom?
Hi Bob! Thanks for watching. When are you hearing that?
@@ErndogGolf :36 seconds in. I’m assuming he just means choke way down.
Choke down, with your thumbs near the bottom of the grip.
@@TonyinCT yup, that’s correct!
Great info on chipping! Curious what club you were hitting?
Also envious of the practice facility!! What a great setup 🤩🏌🏻♂️

@@ErndogGolfchipping definitely benefited from this video. Shot an 89 today which was a net 66. Chipping around the greens saved my bacon. 👍🏻🏌🏻♂️
Dude that’s awesome!! Way to break 90 🤙🏽
Are you using the same club for all of these shots and what was it?
Wow this is good stuff..can you please ask Zack if the high ahit can be used from the sand bunkers?
It’s definitely a similar setup but it is not a slow swing. You’re also trying to make contact with the sand first and not the ball
Shouldn't another key to this first shot be standing closer to the ball? I have been using this technique recently with huge improvement and standing closer raises the handle/grip and slightly takes the heel of the club slightly off the ground

Is your club grip more in your hands than your fingers just like a putter?
Hmm no, I grip it like the rest of my irons
5:20 "What I see some other people do is..." SKULL IT ALL THE WAY TO THE CLUBHOUSE
Hahahahahaha that always cracks me up
Great advice. Dead arms/hands, a little body driven swing, tempo.

Hi Rob! All were with the same wedge (56*). Around the greens, 99% of my shots are using a 56*
@@ErndogGolf great! Thanks. Yep that’s my go to around the green. Have been practicing with a 60 for some higher, softer shots but it’s not easy. 🤣🤣
