Unabashed casual player here, and I have to say that this is the kind of set made for my people. I suck at the competetive end, but enjoy the conversations around it, and my real enjoyment is in these more casual archetypes with fun playstyles.
Filthy casual as well! I will ALWAYS prefer the thrill of being able to make a deck that is 100% on theme vs. "This deck is full of random cards but hey they are powerful"
Hell, its probably going to be a staple in Divine Beast decks just because it thins the deck and enables summoning divine beasts during your opponents turn to combo with.
I agree the Arcana Knight support is good, but the problem is that the board you usually create with them is lackluster (both Arcana Knight Joker and Arcana Extra Joker are not really worth summoning, and all light warrior extra deck monsters are lackluster). Initially I was thinking making Arcana Triumph Joker's effect a quick effect would lead to another AA-Zeus problem, but looking at it now after testing it, if it was a quick effect this card would actually be good, but how it is, it falls in the same category as both other Arcana Jokers ("Unus pro omnibus, omnes pro uno").
The knight cards Especially thunder speed summon are meant to be used for a Yugi themed Slyfer deck. That's why they maintain hand advantage to keep slyfer live. They all seem to synergize with Slyfer specifically.
I'm surprised dzeef didnt mention Slifer, all this support & card recycling to the hand actually makes Silfer a decent second boss monster. Is searchable with Thunder Summon (and is even in the art)

How would you summon gilti gearfried? The requirements are two warriors with different attributes and all the knight monsters are light. Unless you run generic warrior support like marauding captain but you’d almost be better off just not.
i feel like thunderspeed summon is meant for slifer. since the bonus effect specifies non-dark, there are 6 targets :Cyber eltanin, Ma'at, Slifer, Ra, Ra-sphere mode and Blackwing - Aurora the northern lights. And out of those Slifer and both Ras are the only ones you can even summon with it. With it being a quick-play spell, Slifer is definitly the best traget I'd say. Since Ra does absolutely nothing when summoned on your opponents turn. Although Spehre mode turns into an almost nibiru that you can't negate, which isn't the worst either.
lightning storm reprint probably means that the cyber strike structure won't have it. I'm really excited for the XYZ and magnet warrior support even though they are kind of random

This set could maybe, MAYBE make up for the Egyptian God decks by at least providing proper support for those cards. Thunderspeed Summon especially is pretty good for getting Slifer onto the board.

After having seen some of the box openings, I'm pretty sold on this set (especially with the new rarities for the Egyptian Gods, that'll be really cool if i end up pulling one). Utopic Draco Future especially is stupidly strong, and a lot of the new Poker Knights cards are pretty cool as well (along with the new support for Slifer). I could maybe see Silfer being pretty decent now as far as non-meta competitive decks go, which i'm pretty excited about.
@@Ando1428 She's a level 1 water spellcaster where if you control a lv 5 of higher water, special summon her from the gy, but banish when she leaves the field. If she is normal or special summoned to the field, at the end phase, search a lv 5 or higher water.
@@thatman666 what? Your trying to fight heroes? Dude you don't need something like that. Just put a few nature heroes in your extra deck and wait for big plays. Just put those fusions in your side deck. Like cyber heroes greatest weakness is themselves. Hero duelist always have that problem. Just let them do the work. I had so many problems with that whenever we got new hero support. See heroes rarely control the field. It's why dark law and plasma was so prominent because it affected your oponent. The top tier hero decks swarm you if they can't kill you in one turn. Normally they do this after creating a reversal. But after that big push they don't do anything afterwards. Top tier focus to heavily on the reversal. Worst part is that they don't even use all of the cards that can control the field. Contrast hero chaos is rarely used. Koga is great for stalling reversals but it's rarely used as well. So keeping a battle fader and nature heroes or vision heroes in your already fuse ready deck kills heroes out right.
I'm just excited for the relinquished support. If we get two more cards on the level of the previous support relinq could actually be a decent rogue deck
I love the Arcana Knight Support. It uses the original cards and the artwork is gorgeous. So much better Support for older decks instead of penguins, ABC, magnet warrior, etc. That said they could still replace the classic cards and those work more like a ressource now. But it's cool to see them playable nowadays again.
If only the new boss was a fusion, the new fusion spell let you use more normal monsters from the deck, or the spell let you special summon and add from the graveyard too and not just deck…
They already had Arcana Knight Joker as a fusion and Arcana Extra Joker is a link, so making another fusion would "conflict" with the other fusion. To be honest, I would of liked Arcana Triumph Joker to be a ritual monster, with Face Card Fusion also acting as a ritual spell similar too Magikey - Mafteah. But alas, at least it is searchable with the new spell card.
It's interesting that we're finally getting some good support for the poker knights/arcana knight deck. It might make the deck a good rogue option or at least a good casual deck. I don't think it would propel the deck to being tier 1, though.
Hard to be a good archetype when every archetype in modern day yugioh involves just setting up endless negates after summon spamming through links...... But yes zero interaction games are soooooo fun.....

ngl, I don't even care if they're not tiered at all. It's really cool to see some classic monsters with interesting designs actually receive support to make them playable at least in a casual environment.
Doug you're missing the big point here though, the boss monster of this deck, while powerful and being able to destroy that type of card on the field, they have to be face up AND this card has zero protection. any effect negation will stop this card. yeah it's a big body but it's not hard to get off the field. yeah you can have the link monster to protect it but that's still not good enough. the card does not have any built-in protection, and requires to destroy face up cards that's very situational. I think you were over blowing how good these cards are. they're not quick effects, there is no protection with it. it's a fun deck but I don't see this being tournament play whatsoever

You can't use this with A-Z because its fusion material is VWXYZ Dragon CATAPULT Cannon not XYZ Dragon Cannon. Makes XYZ hyper cannon pretty bad even if the effect is pretty cool

I have to agree with Dzeeff here, as much as I love creating character decks that try to be somewhat playable these sets really only hit that itch and nothing else, so I really hope he's right about this set being pretty good
I’m really looking forward to this set’s release, I’ve already got a deck list in mind for this: 3 of each of the Arcana Knights cards (monster (main and extra), spells, and traps) as well as 3 poly, 3 Greater Poly, 3 warrior returning, 3 Fusion reserve, 3 Goblin housekeeping, 3 Tellus, 3 First of the Dragon, 3 Hip Hoshinigen, 3 Isolde, and 3 Slifers (this one isn’t as necessary but makes for a good backup ace, would be willing to use a different level 10 with ? that isn’t dark)! I would preorder the stuff I want, but right now it’s all worth almost $30 so I’ll wait until it’s closer and/or past release date! Still, it’ll be fun to see how far this can go. Though I feel this is what we still need to make it better: 1) an attack/effect/damage/negating card 2) Royal Straight Slasher (it could work, even though the cost is a bit steep) 3) Trap Fusion (it works with Destiny Heroes) 4) More extra deck monsters (not necessarily fusions, it could be a synchro like Cyber Slash Harpy Lady or an Xyz) 5) Pendulums? (I admit I’m on the fence about this, it could be fine without it but the extra means to quickly get out the main deck knights couldn’t hurt) Now if we could just get our Neos Krieger (probably messed up that name) and our main deck Masked Heroes and our Volcanic support, the community would be very happy!

if you can find a way to get slifer on the board early with this deck. Maybe add in some protection. Between slifer's floodgate ability and the cards returning to the hand...this archetype with knights and slifer may be pretty solid
The knight support definitely feels like it has a lot of potential. Though you might need to run multiple copies of the original knights to take full advantage of the recursive nature of the deck. With said recursive nature, you could run stuff like Twin Twister in the main. Magician Souls could also be a potential option due to the mini-engine people had shoved into the deck for extra draws or an easy way to go into BLS Soldier of Chaos with it’s added protection as long as you don’t use the card that restricts ED use. Though that’s me being optimistic. Also with all the SS’ing… looks at Cannon Soldier
The Wicked Avatar. This card is about Slifer mostly and they wanted to keep it that way. Too bad that all of this god support doesn't work with all 3, if you count Ra's support it would be pretty viable as a deck.
Tragoedia, Wicked Avatar, Wicked Eraser, D/D/D Destiny King Zero Laplace, Exodia The Legendary Defender, Exodius, Legendary Exodia Incarnate, Orichalcos Shunoros, and Ten Thousand Dragon are all the sad Lv.10 DARK monsters with ? ATK that miss out on Thunderspeed Summon :(
Doug, heart this comment if Konami paid u to say this…. But Fr tho it’s a decent set with a really good CR pool. A little underwhelming but the CRs should be nice.
Arcane Triumph Joker doesn't have a summon restriction. Or a once per turn restriction. That could make for some devious plays. Also why does this card look like a queens knight retrain if it's a joker?
I was hoping the XYZ and Magnet Warrior cards would generate tribute fodder as well. Like would it be too much to ask to have a Spell Card that let's you summon Valkyrion and simultaniously send 3 Magnet Warrior Monsters from the deck to the GY so you can tribute Valkyrion to get the classic Magnet Warriors back for a nasty God summon? The thing they could have done for XYZ Dragon Canon is adding Different Dimension Hanger from the Anime into the set which is good non-Generic Union Monster support.

I'm using Arcana Knight Joker cards on YGOOmega and I'm having a blast really fun to use, could definitely use some extra support (maybe have a Queens and Jacks Knight retrain to give them effects). But still fun to use
Tbh there have been 2 cards made popular by Yugi/ Atem that I've wanted for years: His Knights and his Chimera/ Gazelle/ Berfomet ( More Phantom Beast support would be AMAZING )
I would compare this to CyberDark support, nothing considered meta relevant but does make the archetype/series more playable. (with the latter is all that matters)
Can anyone explain to me the importance of levels on monsters? Like, is more stars generally more powerful or is it almost irrelevant beyond adding some complexity for thinks like synchro or xyzs?
Real happy for the Lightning Storm and Dolkka reprints, Utopic Draco is super nice too. All in all, not to displeased with this set, I might even preorder another box.

They don't think, they just release cards and let the players to figure things out, they don't even know if what they're releasing is busted or not. Someone from Konami said that once already

Joker's straight locks you into only summoning light warriors from the extra, so utopia cards work the best with the joker knights. But if you don't play it then you can experiment with other options like pk
the only negative thing i can find about the arcana knights is that they don't really have protection and the big boss losses to one hand trap since it will then have 0 atk
Been thinking about that, and I think if you mix Greater Poly with the OG Arcana Knight Joker, this archetype gets a pretty decent boss WITH fair protection, especially with how quickly you can get all the materials and support it. Still not top tier, but fun.

Couldn’t agree more with your opening segment. Blazing vortex was terrible, Ghosts from the past was great until I pulled a Blue eyes ghost rare only to find that it’s essentially Played/PSA 8 at best. I hope kings court is actually going to be a good set, preordered half a case 😅
The only reprint that I just look at Konami and say “why” is Scrap Twin Dragon cause it would make more sense to reprint Scrap Chimera instead for Scrap Dino.
that's it that's the whole set we've yet to see the 15 collector rares but if you're only concerned about the cards themselves that won't matter I mean they said from the start the number of cards in the set. Is that your issue? Not enough cards?

Yeah. You can Trap Trick for the trap and use it to copy Thunderspeed Summon and summon Sphere Mode as disruption.

Over all the arcana knight support is good, but its lacking in some areas.
The new knight support is very strong aside from the one trap. The rest of the cards before King's Court aren't.

Yeah, this is based on that final duel where Atem is able to normal summon the knights and Slifer on the same turn vs Yugi

Unfortunately you have to discard a card to use Joker's straight, also there is no in-archetype way to search all the new cards.

Most of the player base reacted poorly to the ice barriers structure deck but it's actually decent and playable, unlike the Egyptian God decks lmfao

ngl, I don't even care if they're not tiered at all. It's really cool to see some classic monsters with interesting designs actually receive support to make them playable at least in a casual environment.
Doug you're missing the big point here though, the boss monster of this deck, while powerful and being able to destroy that type of card on the field, they have to be face up AND this card has zero protection. any effect negation will stop this card. yeah it's a big body but it's not hard to get off the field. yeah you can have the link monster to protect it but that's still not good enough. the card does not have any built-in protection, and requires to destroy face up cards that's very situational. I think you were over blowing how good these cards are. they're not quick effects, there is no protection with it. it's a fun deck but I don't see this being tournament play whatsoever

You can't use this with A-Z because its fusion material is VWXYZ Dragon CATAPULT Cannon not XYZ Dragon Cannon. Makes XYZ hyper cannon pretty bad even if the effect is pretty cool

I have to agree with Dzeeff here, as much as I love creating character decks that try to be somewhat playable these sets really only hit that itch and nothing else, so I really hope he's right about this set being pretty good
I’m really looking forward to this set’s release, I’ve already got a deck list in mind for this: 3 of each of the Arcana Knights cards (monster (main and extra), spells, and traps) as well as 3 poly, 3 Greater Poly, 3 warrior returning, 3 Fusion reserve, 3 Goblin housekeeping, 3 Tellus, 3 First of the Dragon, 3 Hip Hoshinigen, 3 Isolde, and 3 Slifers (this one isn’t as necessary but makes for a good backup ace, would be willing to use a different level 10 with ? that isn’t dark)! I would preorder the stuff I want, but right now it’s all worth almost $30 so I’ll wait until it’s closer and/or past release date! Still, it’ll be fun to see how far this can go. Though I feel this is what we still need to make it better:
1) an attack/effect/damage/negating card
2) Royal Straight Slasher (it could work, even though the cost is a bit steep)
3) Trap Fusion (it works with Destiny Heroes)
4) More extra deck monsters (not necessarily fusions, it could be a synchro like Cyber Slash Harpy Lady or an Xyz)
5) Pendulums? (I admit I’m on the fence about this, it could be fine without it but the extra means to quickly get out the main deck knights couldn’t hurt)
Now if we could just get our Neos Krieger (probably messed up that name) and our main deck Masked Heroes and our Volcanic support, the community would be very happy!

if you can find a way to get slifer on the board early with this deck. Maybe add in some protection. Between slifer's floodgate ability and the cards returning to the hand...this archetype with knights and slifer may be pretty solid

Why Jack's Knight was holding hands with Queen's Knight in the Anime?
The knight support definitely feels like it has a lot of potential. Though you might need to run multiple copies of the original knights to take full advantage of the recursive nature of the deck.
With said recursive nature, you could run stuff like Twin Twister in the main.
Magician Souls could also be a potential option due to the mini-engine people had shoved into the deck for extra draws or an easy way to go into BLS Soldier of Chaos with it’s added protection as long as you don’t use the card that restricts ED use. Though that’s me being optimistic.

Arcane Triumph Joker doesn't have a summon restriction. Or a once per turn restriction. That could make for some devious plays.

I was hoping the XYZ and Magnet Warrior cards would generate tribute fodder as well. Like would it be too much to ask to have a Spell Card that let's you summon Valkyrion and simultaniously send 3 Magnet Warrior Monsters from the deck to the GY so you can tribute Valkyrion to get the classic Magnet Warriors back for a nasty God summon?
The thing they could have done for XYZ Dragon Canon is adding Different Dimension Hanger from the Anime into the set which is good non-Generic Union Monster support.

I'm using Arcana Knight Joker cards on YGOOmega and I'm having a blast really fun to use, could definitely use some extra support (maybe have a Queens and Jacks Knight retrain to give them effects). But still fun to use

Joker's straight locks you into only summoning light warriors from the extra, so utopia cards work the best with the joker knights.
But if you don't play it then you can experiment with other options like pk

the only negative thing i can find about the arcana knights is that they don't really have protection and the big boss losses to one hand trap since it will then have 0 atk
Been thinking about that, and I think if you mix Greater Poly with the OG Arcana Knight Joker, this archetype gets a pretty decent boss WITH fair protection, especially with how quickly you can get all the materials and support it. Still not top tier, but fun.

Blazing vortex was terrible, Ghosts from the past was great until I pulled a Blue eyes ghost rare only to find that it’s essentially Played/PSA 8 at best.

The only reprint that I just look at Konami and say “why” is Scrap Twin Dragon cause it would make more sense to reprint Scrap Chimera instead for Scrap Dino.

If you're competitive or want to be, the only "good" cards are Utopic Draco Future and Lightning Storm.
