Obviously this is the inspiration for the Lin Kuei / Shirai Ryu clan of ninjas in Mortal Kombat. Alot of today's generation are mostly too ignorant to realize that. They think the characters they love were just some brilliant creation, but don't realize that the characters they love today were inspired by crazy movies like these from the past!
Well spotted - I just set off laughing all over again having watched this again (and again and again). I love that both ninja teams were able to mind-read well enough to teleport to exactly the same locations for their one-on-one fights, but the bad guy managed to end up facing the wrong way.
The only thing this is missing is having some clerk from the 99 Cents Store running out and telling them they have to come back into the store and pay for the costumes...

You all may laugh, and while it is very silly and ridiculous and fast paced, I really do enjoy watching an action scene where all actions are readable and I can clearly see who's fighting who... Considering how most action films today are shot I'd take these crazy colored ninjas over yet another Bourne ultimatum flimflammery!
I don't know what I love more, the fact a random bad white black cop duo and crime lords are apparently fully trained in katana and flash step using ninjas who even write it on their foreheads despite all of them saying fuck and shit a lot, or the sound effects and music topped off with literally just immediately flashing to THE END just seconds after they finish the bad guys with no meaningful resolution or epilogue whatso-fucking-ever despite one of them avenging his wife.

Actually I would say they sorta spawned from the Rangers instead. As far as I know, the Power Rangers came from the Sentai shows in Japan. Lot of spandex, alot of coke. Godfrey Ho sorta took the PR concept and applied it to ninjas, got a bunch of white actors, some unfinished films, plus a lot more coke. We see the result. It was probably an awesome experience for those involved at the time.
