I was just invited to a camping trip in Death Valley in 2 weeks. I have a new DRZ400s with the dreaded 2x4 seat. I didn't want to spend $344 right now, so this is awesome! Thank you. I'll make it fit. It was on Amazon for only $12 on sale...
I did the exact same solution on my XT 250 and it worked great. I used a small saw to cut the plastic clips off and used para cord to tie the remaining loops together. This reduced the bulk under the seat and there was much less plastic to get in the way. It made reassembly that much easier. I'm with you, I used it for a year and never regretted the purchase even after many hours in the saddle. Thanks for sharing your experiences and hacks - they are all useful!
Put this on my girlfriend's XT 250 with the originals straps. Between the cover and the seat I taped down a kneepad from a set of Dri-rider bike pants to stop GF sliding forward and to fill the scoop in the seat a little. The cover fits over this and the result has been outstanding. Thanks for the tip. Comfort is up and the seat height is raised - we did a 105km ride today.
I've done this on a DR200, a TW200, and DRZ125L. I got irritated by the buckles and snapped them off and laced the cover on with paracord. Just couldnt' find a happy place for the buckles to go. But it worked well and my rear end is happy.
I just ordered one for my klr 650! I am planning to upgrade my seat, but living in the area of Canada I do, none will arrive in time for the riding season. Doing a 1 week solo trip from northern bc down through the Kootenays, hoping this helps.
Thank you for your suggestion here; I have bought the mod of the video and mounted it: for the 300L best is to remove the middle strap since it is in the way...... very comfortable ride. Thanks for this great suggestion. I keep following you; like the way you present
I love it ..got one on my Africa twin... doubled the ride time for me.. and I just put one on my crf rally.. it’s worth every penny.. I removed the original straps and then used rubber coated wire wraps I found in home depot..they don’t ever move nor will they mar any surfaces they come in contact with! The only drawback of the pad it’s not water proof..but 20 bucks it’s fantastic.. hey you and the family stay safe and healthy . Ride on bud!
@@DorkintheRoad As usual, you nailed this one! I saw this video right before doing a weekend adv trip, and ran out to my local Walmart and picked one up. The first day I rode without it and then put on for days 2 and 3. Since I was on the road and didn't want to pop the seat off, I merely slid the front strap under the front of my seat, and then threaded the rear strap through my tail rack. I just left the middle clicked together but attached to nothing. It never flew off, even when standing at high speed. This is an awesome fix for the money. I even bought another when I got home, since they are so cheap. I vow to do that for things I like, which for some reason...I will find a fav in a category, use it and love it forever, and then the company will stop making them...so when I find cheaper stuff that I like, I tend to buy a spare. All of that said, I still might change the seat....still debateing. However, your cheap quick fix is allowing me to delay the decision. I think my butt gets sore with anything, so it's nice to switch back and forth. With my temp install method, I can mix up my seat option in about 2min. Thanks for all the info and great content.
Lol. That’s what I miss about the old bikes. Look at a Honda XL 1975 up till the late 80s, the seats on those things were awesome, you could sit on them all day long they were just nice big cushy billowy seats. The racer guys hate them but they like little tiny hard pencil seats I guess but they weren’t really that wide and you could still stand up but the longer drives and sitting down on bumpy roads they were awesome. If you didn’t care what people thought, you could almost just saw that to the back of your pants. Lol I can definitely see buying one of these. Good find.

Have to say it's not that bad "but" pun totally intended , I do wear a Klim stretchy padded base layer that had some funky padding right under your nards etc and it helps noticeably but when walk around it feels like a you took a dump in a diaper but that goes away when you know that's not the case .
