As much as we like to diss Trace for being basically a very very budget Blue(and even quite generic compared to other gen rivals except for 6) his AI is actually quite intelligent. I don't think I have seen a NPC swap out their Pokemon when at a disadvantage as much as Trace does

With Eevee not being able to evolve it would make sense that the game creators made it stronger. Pikachu is the evolved form of Pichu, so it has already an advantage over eevee.
You might hate what I’m about to write but for me wiping out his team with clear type advantages doesn’t make a very entertaining battle. I much prefer it when a Pokemon is either not returned or if there is not a type advantage as real strategy is involved.

I've gotta say, this battle was pretty hard (especially his rematch because I didn't wanna train my pokemon since it will just be a waste of ultra balls) and appeared underleveled, like a lot, team was: nidoking, pidgeot, charizard, vileplume, golduck and pikachu, but the real difference this time was that I knew what is going to do the AI, and after the mega pidgeot returned (since it got swapped because I lead with pikachu) I decided to go stall the heck out of it with toxic and roost pidgeot, that was the first time I ACTUALLY enjoyed a good champion battle, not like cynthia in bdsp where I was forced to overlevel.

Garrett Christensen Well honestly they could had done WAY better. Especially for using the switch. Graphic wise, sun and moon is still the best. This are just updated ORAS graphics. I guess they are saving the better graphics for generation 8 next year. These are basically spin-offs anyway.

It's in a situation where Red and Blue are older and had their journey a few years ago (IIRC, Blue offhandedly mentions that instead of the fancy Pokédex the player has, he had to actually write everything down in a book or something), but otherwise takes place at the same time as RGBY with the same overall events.

Hmm don't really like that raise in evasion simply because of friendship, holding on with 1 hp I can understand due to the bond you'd have with your pokemon but that shouldn't translate into evasiveness.

Tbh, I don’t like trace as a rival. Game freak probably thought their rivals were too mean to the players when in fact they were great. Trace doesn’t give me any motivation to beat.

Remember that AI is not so much intelligent as Some other Trainers. If it has an Opportunity it will make his Pokémon Mega-Evolve xD

Blue's strongest mon is level 63, while Trace is 57, so it's not that big of a difference. Also, Trace's team has way more coverage
