“A character is not one drawing” is probably one of the most useful and wise quotes I’ve heard

Helpful reminders that acting out and playing pretend are still valid methods for getting art done! If anyone ask "What are you doing?" all you have to reply is "I jest."

Seeing Beatrix in all those poses made me really appreciate what a good and extremely cute design she has! So fun to look at. I just kept wanting to see more of her and the personality that came through with the expressions.

Jon K. once cited The Honeymooners for his characters' expressions. That inspired me to look at my own favorite sitcoms. The ones that help me most are 3rd Rock from the Sun and Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. TH-camrs help too.

Now I'm not an expert, so take this advice as you will:
One thing I found very helpful for discovering who your character is, is finding their safe pose. What I mean by this is what position they go in when they're sad or feel like they're in danger. Do they roll up in a ball? Do they hug something? Do they find a corner? Just little things like that. I hope this helps!! :D

Ahhh your little bee guy! I don't remember if they had a name but I remember where they started. They've come so far and are adorable! I love them!
Edit: I see the name. Beatrix. The hoodie and fuzz are so cute. And her gauntlet thing looks so cool!

Where do you favor placing your dominant/largest shapes on a character that needs to have a lot of movement AND appeal? I've not quite been able to nail down a good large/medium/small on a character I'm working on, it only seems to work with large, medium, medium.

You must still go with what's aesthetically pleasing, if adhering to a rule is harming your final product, then the rule following is not a conducive means to an end
