Hon minister is undoubtedly referring to Univ of Ghana, Legon. Case in point is the Univ needed financing to expand it student accomodation. The govt did not have the capacity to finance the expansion. The head of the Univ, in line with the authority given them took the initiative to solve the problem. This is clear instance of the govt over extending itself. The Univ lands are not public lands. The said Univ has taken strong measures to protect its lands from govt encroachment.
If you ban the sale of state property you’ll be solving 100% of this issue but the MP wants to solve 80%. Seriously I’m finding it difficult to understand what he’s seeking to do. Why do you want to create 20% loop hole in a bill when you want to pass when you have the opportunity to seal all loopholes?
It’s not entirely about abolishing the sale of state property. It’s about the sale to politically exposed individuals and their immediate families and relatives. This in my estimation constitute about 80% of all sale of state assets and properties. There is room for individuals, the private sector and multinational businesses to acquire state properties through properly and fairly laid lease agreements. This where the other 20% sale is ought to be captured. Know the difference!

We are trying so hard to legislate morality. No amount of legislation can cure our moral decay. An example is causing financial loss to the state. This bill is a knee jerk response and it will cause more harm than solve any thing

Fully in support of the Bill but minimum period shld be 10yrs to qualify after leaving office.
