Ron Coote, 9 grand finals in 11 years winning 6, with a couple as Captain. Most wins by any player outside of those who played in the 11 in a row by St George. Nobody else comes close.
Why can't all the nominee's on that board wait as long as Ron Coote? There are a huge number of players a generation older that should be on that board. eg, What has to be done for us to see "Cattle dog's " children accept Tommy's coat on stage?
Cooper so underrated.. yeah cam smith played alot more games, but cooper was always impeccable. He just played the game right and showed it by moving into the Roosters system and won again.
How "mr perpetual motion" Ray Price, misses a nomination is beyond me. He played from 1976 to 1986 with the eels and played in 7 Grand finals winning 4 and Parra were always there or there abouts with him there. He represented at all levels and competed in every gane he played. Parra without pricey would still be searching for their first GF.
Don’t forget he was a dual international playing for the Waratahs and Wallabies. I know that doesn’t mean much in terms of Rugby League, however it just goes to show how great he was in both codes.
Well he probably had a dozen team-mates when he played in those 7 finals. Does that mean we induct all of them too? Participating in finals means nothing.
Yes i think pricey ,kenny and sterlo for sure before lockyer, smith and Thurston, i think the immortals shud have been in order myself from the beginning, coote shudav been before wally and meninga and johns ,its getting confusing now
100% correct. magnificent choice. All these young so called TV stars are so full of there own importance, they are missing a generation. These youg guys are ruining the whole meaning of being an immortal
Definitely if the next one is from the great QLD streak, Lockyer has to be first picked. Thurston and Smith will get there eventually, and probably Billy and Inglis deserve to as well. But first has to be lockyer.
@@OGEETOMO We All Have Opinions But I Don't Mind If Ron Coote Is Picked He's An Amazing Player Way Before My Time That's Why I'm Going With Darren Lockyer 👍🏿
Brian Bevan, played for easts then enlisted in the navy at the start of world war 2. At the end of the war his ship was in England so he got a game with Warrington then played for a while before coming home to Sydney when he was demobbed. Brian went back to Warrington, played 670 games and scored 757 tries. Brian is in the hall of fame in Aus and England. If that is not an Immortal then what is?
John O'Neill played with Ron Coote at Souths and won 6 premierships. 4 with Souths and 2 at Manly. In 1972 he played for Manly and they couldn't win a premiership till he arrived. He should be in the mix as well because he was a great front rower along with Lazarus, Roach and Webcke.
Steve Rogers is overdue. A far more dangerous attacking centre than Meninga and completely outplayed him on the greatest Kangaroo tour of all time, the 1982 Invincibles.
Now I finally understand how this whole debacle goes. It’s a bit weird kind of saying here are some great players but here’s one that outdoes you all! From a Pommie
You might want to take a look at origin game 2 2005, they all out there for qld, smith, thurston, lockyer, slater, and joey was the best player on the park by an absolute country mile, not even close, made them look stupid, watch the game, or even 5 mins of utube highlights That said, in my opinion smith and slater are future immortals, lockyer and thurston are great players, but regardless of where u sit, just imagine how good u need to be to make these group look stupid, that's how good johns was If u dont believe me type this into utube, how joey's masterclass inspired qld dynasty, maybe u can believe the words of JT and smith
I was watching the news last night and andrew johns banging on about not being asked to select/ judge and saying he didnt even know someone was going to be the next immortal tonight,, is he living under a rock ? Its been common knowledge for weeks, even the nominations
Depends on what era you watched really. Thurston, Lockyer, Langer, Smith, Slater etc could be any of them. I remember though a year where Lockyer was capt and held every single league trophy there was inc the world cup. Only person I seen do it. And yes some would argue he had once in a generation players in his team, but still.
Look I think a lot of those names need to be immortals, but why put those "younger" guys in like Langer, Fittler, Lockyer etc etc... Celebrate the old boys of the game, the pioneers, while we will have them! So happy for Ron Coote, you could see what it meant to him tonight!
Immortal should be best of the best. Lockyer and Fitler were both behind Johns as halves in that era, so they're just below immortal level. Smith will be one, so whether he gets it now or later is the only question. So if it's not Smith this time, I'd go for Sterling because his contribution to the game after his retirement has been immense. I don't know if they take that into consideration, but they should.
If Darren lockyer an cooper cronk is in the convo Surely Trent Barrett the dally m player of the year 2000 is What about braith on the panel he could mix it up with the best He’s first 4 years of first grade He was the hottest prospect in league 💯
Putting people in the HOF a year or two after they retire is wrong. Way too many old players who should be in front of the line, not at the back. Just my opinion. I am a Souths fan and happy to see Burgess and Greg in, but they could have waited another 10 years. Some old playes who deserve to get in are not going to be around forever. Give them that honour while they are still alive.
Immortals should be the very best in the game....half the nominees don't qualify....for me Smith, Slater, Lockyer should be immortals one day, and of course Mr Coote.....Fittler would also come close
If it’s not Geoff Toovey, there needs to be an investigation!
Ron Coote, 9 grand finals in 11 years winning 6, with a couple as Captain. Most wins by any player outside of those who played in the 11 in a row by St George. Nobody else comes close.
You were right on the money 👏👏👏.. Ron is now officially the 14th Immortal of League, an honour long LONG overdue 👍😌
100% agree
Ron Coote, absolutely the right guy chosen ❤❤
Why can't all the nominee's on that board wait as long as Ron Coote?
There are a huge number of players a generation older that should be on that board. eg,
What has to be done for us to see "Cattle dog's " children accept Tommy's coat on stage?
Jonathan Thurston was the greatest player of my era, and he will definitely go in someday
People forget quickly... I remember everyone saying GI was the next, than JT than cam smith... It's a toss up between JT n Cam hopefully JT
Cooper so underrated.. yeah cam smith played alot more games, but cooper was always impeccable. He just played the game right and showed it by moving into the Roosters system and won again.

What about Cronin?
How good was he?
Cooper naming all these players whilst he is as good as all of them.
👇🏿 Darren Lockyer Next Immortal
Definitely if the next one is from the great QLD streak, Lockyer has to be first picked. Thurston and Smith will get there eventually, and probably Billy and Inglis deserve to as well. But first has to be lockyer.
Yeah, I'm a massive Cam Smith fan, but Lockyer first for me.
Even as a NSW fan I have to say the fact Andrew John is an immortal but Darren Lockyer isn't doesn't sit right with me.
@@OGEETOMO We All Have Opinions But I Don't Mind If Ron Coote Is Picked He's An Amazing Player Way Before My Time That's Why I'm Going With Darren Lockyer 👍🏿
Jonathan Thurston as well.
Doesn’t matter who it is , everyone will say it should have been someone else. Just give this guy congratulations. Legend

If that is not an Immortal then what is?
Sterlo, Kenny, Fittler, Langer and Lockyer should be next
Ron Coote, but the NRL would rather someone more recent
Cronk being way too modest. He was the one pulling the strings for storm. It showed when he left.
Shouldn’t even be a question it has to be Ron Coote if he misses out again it’s just disrespectful
Greg Inglis , the best outside back to ever play the game , truely unstoppable in his prime
Langer was massively over-rated 😂
A bunch of people who SIGNED TWO CONTRACTS are being honoured by the game. This is where we are!
Brett Kenny. Has everyone forgotten Tommy Raudonikis.
Yes Tommy
The definition of 'immortal' should be very clear....Coote is a great choice....a very quick and skillful lock
The big question is how is Andrew Johns an immortal?
Alfie Langer, Darren Lockyer, Jonathon Thurston all have better records.
And Andrew John's is the half back in the team of the century
They really don’t. Langers stats aren’t even close to Johns and Joey is just a better player than all of them
You might want to take a look at origin game 2 2005, they all out there for qld, smith, thurston, lockyer, slater, and joey was the best player on the park by an absolute country mile, not even close, made them look stupid, watch the game, or even 5 mins of utube highlights

I would say that slater and smith OBVIOUSLY but also cooper changed the position that they played going forward.
Ron Coote
I was watching the news last night and andrew johns banging on about not being asked to select/ judge and saying he didnt even know someone was going to be the next immortal tonight,, is he living under a rock ? Its been common knowledge for weeks, even the nominations

Lockyer must be an immortal...he did it all, and was a great captain
Tonie Carroll had to defend next to turnstile Lockyer to do all the tackling for him.
We need an immortal per year at this point so many outstanding players won’t make it.
Ever heard of the Dally M Award?
Is Cam Smith on the list of players or officials nominees?
Smith will be an immortal but he can wait 10 years....Fittler and Lockyer before him
👇Todd Carney next immortal
😂
Scott Minto!
No storm players should be considered, The cap cheating excludes them imo
Look I think a lot of those names need to be immortals, but why put those "younger" guys in like Langer, Fittler, Lockyer etc etc... Celebrate the old boys of the game, the pioneers, while we will have them! So happy for Ron Coote, you could see what it meant to him tonight!
They played with no science or technology and a leather ball
Ron Coote. Forever immortal
Wish they’d change and name 1 of that decade to much recency bias with people
Ray Price ; Mick Cronin ; Eric Growth
Cronin ahead of Rogers? Not even Cronin would think that.
Brett Kenny.
That was who I thought should be there instead of Sterlo bless his cotton socks.
Best 5/8 ever....
Ricky Stuart ! Put another forward in the mix
Immortal should be best of the best. Lockyer and Fitler were both behind Johns as halves in that era, so they're just below immortal level. Agree mostly, but you have to remember Locky and Freddy also played other positions and were elite at them as well.
Hey mate just pick one we're not re inventing the wheel here!
@@Kadaitchi Freddy. 25 tests as captain, most blues games, dally m in 3 positions and so on
@@Thisdracoundefeated Good point
Ron Coote by a mile.
Slater took the reigns from Matty Bowen
Sterling
😂🪄they forgot Benji, probably because he made a lot of those players cry
I'm with Allan langer and I'm NSW supporter but anyone of these guys could win
Sterlo.
If Darren lockyer an cooper cronk is in the convo

He’s first 4 years of first grade

Hand on heart, Cameron Smith!
Hand on heart cause you got no brains

Filter or Langer
Coote / Kenny / Sterlo
id have the great utility back, luke burt. great player he was could kick goals too
Definitely not a immortal
😂
Oh FFS just give it to The Brick With Eyes
Just put them all in there .call it catch up if you like thats what i think
Cliff Lyons
Sterlo or Langer
Benji Marshall
Colin Best
Clint schifkoske
Best Colin
I remember watching him score his first try in the northern corner of Shark Park back in ol'e 1998 I think it was.
Brad Fittler
Immortals should be the very best in the game....half the nominees don't qualify....for me Smith, Slater, Lockyer should be immortals one day, and of course Mr Coote.....Fittler would also come close
Brad fittler. My opinion.
inglis
I am with you on that one!
Mick Ennis ........... legend
LMAO
Kevin ivine
Yes, hard to believe he isn't already and Ron Coote
Ken
terry lamb
Wayne bennett
He would be the first immortal if there were one for coaches.
well, he did play for Australia....but a much better coach
I'd love to see Brett Kenny, but it will probably be the cheat Cam Smith
The cheat? Knowing the game doesn't make you a cheat😂
Sterlo or kenny
Has to be fitler or Lockyer
Since 2005 Australia has enjoyed its worst records and rankings in its entire history. Some of them ain't immortals. Great marketing, though.
