Bought a new fridge. Took most of the trays, door handles, glass shelves, etc. from the old one. Took a few months but made $500 toward the purchase of the new one $1,500. Great advice for your fans.
A large part of my store is stripped appliance parts… people give away free appliances every single day. Sometimes parts sell before I can enter them into storage location in flipwise. One Saturday I was able to get 8 appliances in my pickup truck…. Kept me busy listing for weeks. Cost of goods was gas.
Hi Chloe! My one experience with a return scam that I won was because I had an accurate description of the flaws in the product with photos. I would say always make sure if there is any damage, you HAVE to note it in the listing. Don't hope for the best.
There are some ‘perpetual’ yard sales in my area that are actually good. One woman sources tons of used clothes and has fresh inventory every week. The other runs a medical supply store and buys return pallets, so she always has lots of random stuff.
Regarding canceling/refunding shipping labels-if you go to the order details for that particular item, on the drop down menu there is an option to void that label. Once you do that, on that same menu, there will be an option to purchase another label.
If you get a resale certificate from your state you don’t have to pay sale tax on items you are buying to resell, I believe every state with sales tax has that as an option. It’s saved me thousands of dollars in sales tax over the years.
Do you use it at goodwill/thrift stores? It seems like a good idea but I'd be afraid if I showed them a resale certificate they'd write down all the brands I picked up and next time I came they'd be priced twice as high as before.
@@mayakoyama9130 I don’t shop at goodwill and rarely shop at thrift stores, but I use it at antique stores & used bookstores. I don’t think that’s something that would ever happen, especially not at goodwill. In the antiques & used books business it’s actually common practice to offer a 10%-20% discount to other dealers. I also have my resale number uploaded to eBay so when I buy inventory there it’s tax free. I get a lot of stock at auctions too, and I use my resale number there as well. It’s literally saved me thousands of dollars.
I have it for CA but only use it for buying on eBay (which I do a lot). I don’t think I would take the time to try and get an employee at goodwill or thrift to figure out how to accept it and not charge me.
Justin, thanks for your channel, I learn a lot from it. I do, however, disagree with your categorization of an individual buyer that works with a seller on an item that is received either strictly "not as described" or possibly damaged during packing or shipping (especially when poorly packaged) and accepting a partial refund as compensation as a "scammer". Often times the seller is faced with taking a return of a broken/damaged/not as described item and having to pay the return postage on it and finds it preferable to offer a partial refund (and sometimes even a full refund). Ebay even encourages buyers to contact sellers and work out amicable resolution, if possible, prior to requesting a return for a product that is "not as described". Thanks again for your perspectives and presentation. They are both useful and entertaining.

In the meantime, I contacted her to tell her how to open a return and informed her again she would have to pay to ship it back since I don’t have free returns. I’m thinking about it, but haven’t decided to institute that policy yet. Anyway here it is 2 months later now, she still hasn’t returned the item but has contacted me to say it only works part of the time. Can’t help her if she doesn’t return the item. Too late now. I won’t honor a return unless eBay makes me. Thanks for all you do. I watch some channels for fun and others for educational content and information. Hi Justin. Thanks for the vids. Quick question: when calculating net profit margin, are you dividing your profit by your net income or dividing your profit by the total sale before shipping & fees are subtracted. Thanks

The easiest way would be to record a split share of the shipping cost on the two without a cost to ship, and then add an Expense to the item with the full cost to ship to offset the difference by 1/3rd. Does that make sense? If not, email me at support@flipwise.app and I'll walk you through it.

There’s another situation that I ran across so on eBay when you’re selling sports cards if a card sells for under $20 eBay will provide a standard envelope with tracking that’s $1.25 so that allows me to ship an item in a bubble mail with tracking for cheap Sometimes when I do auctions, I do the automatic pricing which is 8 ounce first class $4.47 is I had an auction so I thought it would it’s sold for three dollars shipping customer receive the item I bought the $1.25 stamp and he said it was it got there in time And there was no damage however he felt like he was gypped on shipping personally I kind of get both sides. I got the card there on time and I kind of explain that even if I paid only $1.25 for shipping there’s other factors that could be involved in extra $2.86 cent difference, such as top loader, Henny sleeve team bag the bubble mailer itself the paper for the scanner, etc. This was a book, sorry it was Siri typing. Justin, have you had any trouble in cancelling a shipping label? The last two times I tried the PO did not issue a refund; they said to wait 14 business days, which I did, then nothing.
What do you do when someone looks for a partial refund after the return window closes? I sold a cassette tape for $35 and listed it as in very good condition, and after the window closed, the buyer reached out and said I just tested this. It doesn’t work. You had an inaccurate description. Please make this right. I wrote back with your standard response. that sucks. “I’m sorry please open the return “ knowing that it was past the return window . the buyer responded I can’t and I said looks like your past return window please reach out to eBay and see if you can start a return. And the buyer dropped the issue. would you have done anything differently?
I have a question about return shipping. What if the buyer ships the item in a box with bigger dimensions then are on the shipping label (which I pay for, of course)? I recently shipped a golf club via Fedex and my measurement was off by 1/2 an inch. Well, Fedex rounded up an inch, times the length of the box of 48", and I ended up with a $35 surprise surcharge on my ebay account. I'm now VERY meticulous about measurements. But now, I am shipping a cart/staff golf bag squeezed into a 12x12x36" u-haul lamp box. What if the buyer wants to return it and didn't save the box, and returns it in, for example, a u-haul sports box 15x15x48". Since ebay autogenerates the return label, the surcharges would be astronomical. Do you think there is any recourse in a case like that?
I really enjoy all your videos and appreciate your general attitude…maybe it’s a fellow xennial thing. I sure as heck would cancel the sale for the $1,400 item; momma didn’t raise no fool.

Are you sure about the pictures thing? When you make your title, you can hit search without match or not, and if you use the search and find your item,, you can use the pics and listing of someone else.. it automatically fills it all out? I’ve also heard ppl show some dislike about ppl being able to use their pics in a couple of fb eBay groups I’m in.. 🤔
The photos that appear automatically come from eBay's Product Catalog. Photos in the Catalog are made up of photos from manufactures and other eBay sellers. Not all photos taken by eBay sellers end up in the Catalog. You can use photos, including other seller's photos, that are in the Catalog, but you cannot use photos that from other sellers that are not in the Catalog. www.ebay.com/help/policies/listing-policies/images-text-policy?id=4240
What if the difference was $1M dollars? Those people in the honor the sale camp immediately swap to the cancel the order camp. Get off your high horses. Everyone has their price.
IMO it’s not a $1400 loss when you didn’t know the value, you never had that money to begin with nor did you think you had that money. That’s the risk you take. So morally, you should had honored the sale. BUT business is business, if EBay allows you to cancel sales and 1 ding.negative review won’t mess up your business, I’m cancelling too!

@@justinresells me either. ebay always been on my side as a seller. only once lost money on a sell and that was because usps left the package sitting at the post office over two weeks so i had to send buyer a replacement though the item ended up arriving
@@justinresells Same for me. They've sided with me and reversed feedback more times than I can count.
Hi Chloe
Hi Chloe!
Darlene is for sure seething at how unbothered you are at her criticism of you ha
Hi Chloe
Yep, Rico is bing lazy. C’mon man, if you’re gonna sell stuff, then take pics of the stuff you’re selling. Sheesh. 🙄
Didn't watch the video yet, but this is the greatest thumbnail in TH-cam history.
“Good job Justin !!”” lol
Sir, please take this in the spirit that it was intended; you would look far better with a shaved head. Keep the beard, shave the head. Winning 💪🏼👍🏼
Remember, Karma...honor the sale. It's a privilege to even have a platform that allows you to resale in the first place.
A seller who does not honor the sale, clearly does not mind if the buyer does not honor the sale as well and asks for frivolus refuds:)
@@przemekkozlowski7835 tit for tat gets you nowhere; you selling set the standard, or get out the game.
@justinresells Thanks for responding exactly like I'd hoped you would
