Farina Bread. 3/4 cup farina (examples: Cream of Wheat, Malt O Meal,), 1 1/4 c flour, 1 tbsp baking powder, 3/4 cup brown sugar (or 1/2 cup brown sugar), one egg, 1 cup of water or milk, 1/4 cup olive oil (or vegetable or canola oil), one pinch of kosher salt. One mixing bowl and a 8 x 8 inch square pan. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Stir together the flour, baking powder, farina, and brown sugar in the mixing bowl. Shake the baking pan to level the batter. Bake in a 400 degree oven for 25 minutes. Let the bread cool before cutting.
So happy to see you scrape the bowl like you know we all do to get every drop even what's on the spoon. That's REAL LIFE STUFF. I hate seeing other people leave all kinds of food in the bowls like it doesn't matter. I'm going to try your Farina bread just because it looks so good.. Thank you.
Wow....my whole 39 years and I’ve never heard of this. I love cornbread but I also like cream of wheat. I can’t wait to try this, thanks for posting and introducing me to something new.
I made this bread on yesterday for the first time. We have always eaten cornbread with a lot of our veggies such as greens. My family fell in love with this bread and I do believe we have found a cornbread replacement.
I'm a new subscriber, just recently finding your channel. Now I'm going back and watching all of your other videos. This bread looks awesome! Thanks for sharing. I'm 68 and had never heard of farina bread, believe it or not. I wrote down your recipe to put in my recipe notebook. And thank you for getting all of the batter out of the bowl. It drives me nuts when folks leave a bunch of batter/ingredients in the bowl in their videos. My parents went through the Great Depression and WW2, and I was taught never to waste things. I will be making this bread for sure! Blessings and greetings from central Florida! Have a bless day.
WOW! I made this bread today. I had never heard of it before so I decided to try it and keep with the whats in the pantry theme of your quick lamb stew and rice meal I went to the pantry to see what ingredients I had. Everything. However I used the canned milk I had on hand because you showed me how to do that also. I used half a cup canned milk and half a cup water. I was skeptical because I love a good corn bread! I used my husbands air fryer to bake it but put it too high on the rack and it burned. I told him looks like the chickens get a treat tonight. I was wrong!! Even burnt this is a MUST KEEP recipe! it is Fantastic even burnt. Thank you for sharing this recipe. Next is butter since I canned 15 pints of parboiled rice today. cant wait to try the lemon cilantro. for dinner tonight with my burnt bread. May the LORD Bless and Keep you and yours.
Hi Mrs. H.-- I came across your recipe for Farina Bread. Thank you! You brought back fond memories of my Grandmother Hazel. She made a denser version, fried it in a bit of butter and served it with maple syrup. We are northerners. I will be sure to try your recipe. I was the only person to pour maple syrup over my cafe' fluffy grits ! Folks looked at me funny, tried it and loved it :-) I do enjoy cheese grits...
I make cream of wheat bread and cream of wheat pancakes. Decades ago IHOP was featuring cream of wheat pancakes and my mother and I tried them and fell in love. I spent years perfecting the recipe thank you all and we love to them right up until she passed away last year!
