- I ran five shakeout runs, visited three popup spaces, hosted 1 panel, was interviewed once, chased pros at the USATF 5k champs, and ran 26.2 hot and steamy miles. This is my vlog recap of my New York City Marathon 2022 weekend.

We’re all lucky that Mike catalogs these moments and puts them together in a way that accurately conveys what it’s like to be in the city for events like this. I was literally at this side for a large portion of the weekend and I can’t imagine a more accurate depiction of an amazing weekend. Put the NYC marathon on your bucket list!

This race is better than advertised
This was one of your best in-depth review of a marathon as it included days before the race, notes on the screen of people and shoes, and the timeline of the video was much appreciated. In helped to include the transportation also. Maybe in the future you could consider including the names of the hotel and the distance from the race. Just a thought.
thanks for the feedback! I stayed at a hotel just a few blocks south of central park on 7th ave. very very easy to get back to after the race. no stairs to the subway required.
I'm truly impressed with how you are able to make time for everyone, attend so many events and shake out runs the days prior to the marathon. I remember your first videos when you ran chicago for the first time, and how good they were, but watching this mini documentary of your NYC weekend is something else. Keep up the good work and best of luck in Sacramento!

Fantastic vid ! I had a great time at your shakeout and at the BITR shakeout.. the marathon itself was fun, if not a test to see how far I could dig to get across that line. But like you, I ran into all kinds of people I knew throughout the race !

Thanks for coming out Kofuzi! I'm so glad you finally got a chance to run (in my opinion) the greatest marathon in the world! This was my 7th and by far the worst weather conditions, but the city showed up as usual and carried us through the suffering. NY spectators and volunteers are incredible!! Congrats on all your success and I hope to see you again in the future!

I’d like to ask though if you can send a word of comfort to all the runners that ended up at the hospital(s) ER or ICU (kidney failure) due to the heat and humidity. What they thought it would be an amazing experience it became… the worst one!
And please educate runners/ people to not going beyond their limits and keep in mind that run should be fun, exciting…

This was my 2nd time there (I LOVED it when I ran in 2019), but it felt different this time. Everything went wrong and I PWd. I swore I would never go back even though the support in NYC is the best I’ve ever encountered. After watching your race recaps, I want to go back. Redemption!😂

Another amazing storytelling video, loved it. An evening group run through Central Park sounds great💪. Don't know how you were able to run a marathon after such a very busy few days, but the energy at the shakeous and the crowds seemed to have really helped🏃🏻♂️😎. We'll done!

Each time I watch your videos I keep saying its the best. However, this one trumps them all. The best part was seeing everybody I follow on YT and IG all in here, except of course Seth Demoor.

It’s hard to add anything unique to the effusive comments already here other than to say I agree with all of them! You’ve mastered the highest level of the runner’s weekend recap format, and you’ve made me yearn to experience NYC Marathon despite my trepidations about it!
it can certainly be overwhelming, but I think you'd have plenty of familiar faces to spend the weekend with if you came out
Next year is out with CHI now, but I’m sure I’ll be trying that GFA lottery in NY for ‘24. I’ll need to get in the queue for registration way earlier next time. The sheer number of shakeouts is amazing, and I’d be adding rabbit and Runners World, so most of them would be just meetups for me so as not to run an 80 mi weekend as you did, to say the least! 😂
