0:32 you summoned the black cat of infernal carnage and suffering straight out of hell. When you're bass playing can do that you know you're badass. Love your playing, your videos and your band :D cheers mate!
Ok you are the bassist of one of my favourite bands, you have a logitech g9x, a steelseeries mousepad and a razer blackwidow ultimate. Man you are an awesome bassist and a badass pc gamer too? So epic \m/
Actually, I have a Qpad Mk-85 keyboard, a Roccat Pure optical, Logitech Proteus, R.A.T 7 and an old Logitech MX518 hooked up ATM. It's nice to have options.
Most would say impossible to play. What is does for me is inspire me to practice, practice, practice. I'm sure it's taken years of long days of practice to get this good. Bands like Spawn and Gorod (the masters) have taken extreme music, but rather than sounding like one long random jam, they have evolved and made this form of music into an art form which I can listen to for hours. It's complex but well constructed. Long may tech death reign!
Love this track. Really respect what you do on youtube. It's every fans dream to see their heroes play their actual songs in a non concert/band setting. Very cool
Finally someone who appreciates the intricacies I subtly try to incorporate to make this whole thing a bit more entertaining. I applaud your observation skills!
I love at 0:47 how you hit the accents super hard, it makes it sound super punchy. On another note, what do you think are the easiest and hardest SoP songs?
It was a christmas gift from my aunt -05, and it has endured screwdrivers and coffee beans ever since. I don`t see any reason for learning songs I don`t have to, easy as that.
David J Both are stupidly difficult but Alex and Erlend play in different styles. Pick bassists will have a harder time playing this definitely though.
Thank you Erlend, this is my favourite track from SoP and by you; What's in that cup? A little bit of blood of some strange monster you killed in the mountains?
I use Logitech G9X, Roccat Kone and Logitech MX510 on my main computer, with the Steelseries pad and Razer Black Widow. For my livingroom computer I use the Dinovo Edge from Logitech plus their G700 wirelesss, which I also use at work. So, in terms of recommending stuff I can`t really vouch for anything since it`s all a matter of taste and what kinda games you play, so I`d say check reviews of said mice and keyboard and see if it`s a fit.
I love your tshirts. Where can i find the nyancat tshirt you were wearing at the last show in Köln, Germany? (If i remember well, my memory is quit fuzzy ahah)
I love reading your smartass comments when you reply to people. They're funny! You're one of my two favorite bass players. Not sure what's going on with SoP but I hope there is another album in the works!
i see you have a black widow keyboard, just bought mine not to long ago, love it!. We should game. awesome vid too!! thinking of getting a Warwick corvette nt as well, is it worth it? I love the corvette models.
I see no likes here, so you might actually be right. Also, if you find what my cat is doing funny\interesting, there`s this thing called Google where you can search for lolcats where you will be just amazed at what cats today are able to do which was not possible before. They`re like little people (midgets), I start laughing just thinking about it haaha ah ah aahah
It's implicit that everyone do their homework, as with any band in this genre, before one sets out doing any sort of shows. Nope. Never received royalties of any kind and I've gotten maybe half a regular paycheck accumulated for all my years of touring. No one except the biggest names(CC, Behemoth, Dimmu etc.) in the genre can make a living playing this sort of music.
+Butcher6evil III If you enjoy hobbies that takes half a life time to master, will haemorrhage you money with nothing in return, and go on van-tours in Canadian mountains where you slip off the road and almost die every other day, then by all means go for it.
Currently learning this on guitar. It's fuckin hard.
hey
9 years ago. Are you still practicing?
And the resulting banjo cover is an internet classic.
ROB U THERE M8?
holy shit, you learned this when I did (tried to)
Wow. Now imagine if he drank all the coffee before he started playing...
I believe it`s this weird thing called practice followed by muscle memory.
I like my cat
Just when I thought I was getting good at Bass...
feel u

So handsome.

This is seriously the highest level of musicianship and technicality I could ever hope or want to achieve as a metal bassist, cudos good sir
1:59 I guess the cat loves that section too
After all, the cat is the real star on this video. hahaha xD
Awesome Erlend mug!

Its 2018 n im still watching this. new album please qwq
Came here to watch a guy take two sips of coffee. Wasn't disappointed.
Just so you know, to this day, I drop your name every chance I get. Fucking legend.
I see you like Steelseries as well. Always nice to hear an audible bassist in metal.
Was I the only one who spent the video watching for the cat instead of listening to the bass?
hahahah that cat seems to be pretty happy :D!
Holy shit ur fast
the cat exit hahahahahahahahahahaha
amazing as always! please dont stop making videos erlend...
I love at 0:47 how you hit the accents super hard, it makes it sound super punchy.
On another note, what do you think are the easiest and hardest SoP songs?
+James Moran The only song of theirs I can play is scorched so I guess that is the easiest.
Jonathan Keeler I can play Scorched and Dead And Grotesque, I thought D&G was a bit easier. Different styles though.
How did you learn dead and grotesque? Did you look at the guitar parts and the playthrough and figure it out or are the TABs out there?
Jonathan Keeler There are 100% accurate tabs including drums and solos on songsterr or ultimate guitar
Ill check out songsterrr, but ultimate guitar is without bass.
Muted camera, audio recorded in Nuendo and put together with Windows Movie Maker.
Any cat will be soothed and\or wooed by fret noise from a bass.
Some day, please show us all your basses. In a video.
Yes! Servitude of Souls please! And I look forward to your next video's outros lol
Nah man - just for kicks. Jumped to conclusions there - just by shitty laptop speakers destroyed the smooth low Hz ear massage ..
So me and the cat doesn`t get confused.
I was asking about the coffee mug, but that works too.
So that is your secret to how fast you play! Many cups of coffee.
It was a christmas gift from my aunt -05, and it has endured screwdrivers and coffee beans ever since. I don`t see any reason for learning songs I don`t have to, easy as that.
haha loved the cat. Nice cover too.
Please upload a Servitude of Souls video, it's so awesome, and your tone on it is like a Chain saw xD
You're amazing man!
I have one of those here in Iceland with my name on it. The best mugs.
I like your razor keyboard. Sick bass playing as always, best around in my opinion!
Ooooooh you! *old man pointing cane and glasses-gesture*
And here was I thimking frantic disembowelment is impossible.
David J Both are stupidly difficult but Alex and Erlend play in different styles. Pick bassists will have a harder time playing this definitely though.
Aww that coffee cup says Erlend
Thank you Erlend,this is my favourite track from SoP and by you;
What's in that cup? A little bit of blood of some strange monster you killed in the mountains?
Dude this is ridiculously good!
Hey Erlend, can you make a video playing Servitude of Souls? I love the bass in the intro!
I have the same mug! With my name on it ofcourse. Also nice gaming gear :D Incurso is awesome.
Nice coffee mug.

oh yeah nice playing too i guess
An appropriate reply for the *king
where does your cat go when you are on tour?
I use Logitech G9X, Roccat Kone and Logitech MX510 on my main computer, with the Steelseries pad and Razer Black Widow. Let's talk about: Coffee.
0:36 LOL. The cat ran away because he was afraid of Technical death metal XD
Yeah great cat !

Duuude, I hope to be as good as you one day :D you are amazing :D
I love reading your smartass comments when you reply to people. They're funny! You're one of my two favorite bass players. Not sure what's going on with SoP but I hope there is another album in the works!
We're working on it, but it's a terribly slow process.
Bet that is stressful! Awesome to know there is more stuff coming though. Thanks!
Hey! You are so Fucking good!! Please, make a video of "The Forbidden" :D
i see you have a black widow keyboard, just bought mine not to long ago, love it!. We should game. awesome vid too!! thinking of getting a Warwick corvette nt as well, is it worth it? I love the corvette models.

I was wondering......How the fuck is possible??? How do you remember all the frets??? FUUUUCK!!!!!!!!!!!
All of them warwick?
Aw, you have a coffee mug with your name on it. Is that a custom signature model by Warwick?
воды
0:37 too much brutality for your cat :(
I sold it after a few months. Blue cherry MX are pretty darn awful. For me at least.
Sad that this band had to go. Oh well,at least the music is still out there.
I see no likes here, so you might actually be right. Also, if you find what my cat is doing funny\interesting, there`s this thing called Google where you can search for lolcats where you will be just amazed at what cats today are able to do which was not possible before. Svenskt kaffe?
if i can*
I`d rather be knighted :/ Sir Erlend Caspersen has a better ring to it.
Oh, don`t think too much about it, `twas only random ranting at nothing. And I got no dislikes cause people are boring :/
How much practice do you do with Spawn Of Possession, like do you play together once a week or something, or do you just practice individually?
+Butcher6evil III We've done two tours and rehearsed twice, from what I recall.
Weird considering how fucking difficult your stuff is. Do you make a living of playing death metal?
It's implicit that everyone do their homework, as with any band in this genre, before one sets out doing any sort of shows.
Nope. Never received royalties of any kind and I've gotten maybe half a regular paycheck accumulated for all my years of touring. No one except the biggest names(CC, Behemoth, Dimmu etc.) in the genre can make a living playing this sort of music.
***** Fair. But it seems like an easy hobby, just practice and then go out and tour a bit. Is it an easy hobby to have?
+Butcher6evil III If you enjoy hobbies that takes half a life time to master, will haemorrhage you money with nothing in return, and go on van-tours in Canadian mountains where you slip off the road and almost die every other day, then by all means go for it.
