Back in 1987, a bike shop sold us a Cannondale with Suntour components and a Shimano freewheel from the floor...never had an issue. Suntour and Shimano indexable freewheels seem pretty interchangeable as long as they are 'indexable'.
The shops I was at in Texas said that they would not work together. They were wrong. Try to switch indexed derailleurs and see what happens. That doesn't work. Thanks for watching.👍
Great video! Thank you:) Please answer me this... I want to know if I could take the dedicated 1/8 sprocket part off of a 16T Origin 8 Hornet freewheel which is wider & does not fit a 3/32 chain & put it on the Box Two freewheel that is 3/32 & 1/8 compatible but more narrow as you know. Just the box two is better quality & want the dedicated wider 1/8 sprocket so that the chain has no play in it. Thank you for your help🙏✨️
I don't think you can. The Box has slightly different internal mechanism. I have never tried and I never will unless I have two bad freewheels that I can play with. But if I had to guess...... No. Goodluck!👍
@@alloutbikes Thanks for reply! Both freewheels have 9 pawls & 108 p.o.e. Shouldnt they be pretty much exactly the same on the inside? Also I can not for the life of me get the tight spot out of my chain now that I installed the Box two freewheel. Chain does not seem to move around or slide side to side so not sure if the freewheel cog itself is out of whack? I ordered off ebay an n.o.s shimano bmx chainwheel 44T 110 b.c.d same as I have now. Also new KMC ept e101 chain so hopefully this solves it... Also have Hornet coming from Amazon. Appreciate your advice🙏
Is there a model number for the shimano freewheel and whats the tooth count for the big and small cogs - i have 14-32 on my Suntour and im looking for a matching tooth count - thanks
I've been looking for this exact info. Excellent information! I like your narration. It is very clear. I have a couple suntour drivetrains. The x-press shifters on my daughter's Bianchi are a bear for my daughter to shift. Are you aware of any Shimano shifters that work with the 4-notch suntour freewheel (it is not cassette)? Everything is 1990-91 on this bike. Thanks again. I've subscribed!
Sorry to get back to you so late. I am not computer literate. The 4 notch Suntour freewheel is considered a freewheel not a cassette. I have had some X-press shifters in the past that I put new quality SS cables and housing on and it made the shifters work like magic. Try that. Thanks for watching!
No, it was up front. I was rebuilding a bike in my normal work area. I was running late as usual and I needed to get a video done so I picked my repair stand that I have been working on for the last 26-27 years. Thanks!
Hey Jason, I really like your informative content and when you tell stories it's great and pranking scammers is hilarious. One thing that I have noticed while watching your videos I have noticed is when you pronounce the letter "s" sound it is very sharp and harsh on the ear. I'm thinking it's a mic issue and not from your pronunciation. Not trying to be a butthead, I just have hearing problems and severe severe tinnitus and it's kinda painful when I hear that sound. Please keep up the good work and I hope this doesn't discourage you from further content.
Not at all. Thanks for the input. Your not kidding the mic picks up the S and it's like an ice pick to the brain. I do whistle a little with my tongue. The mic picks it up a magnifies it ten times. I will try putting the mic somewhere else instead of below my mouth. Thanks, Jason.
Howdy from western Colorado!
Thank you! Greetings from North Carolina!👍

I just did this to my bike and it works great!
I'm glad it worked for you. Thanks for watching!

I had a Motobecane bike from 1980 or so that was all Sun Tour equipped, no French drivetrain parts. And the Sun Tour freewheel took a 2 prong remover
They did a 2 prong and a 4 prong. Thanks for watching.

Is that where you normally fix bikes or did you stage it up a bit? Seems like the skateboards don’t get sold much if they’re back in the repair area.

Are you from cars and cameras?
No. My brother is. Thanks for watching!
Isaac is his twin brother.
