- Hello & Welcome to GT Rail Fan Productions!
On October 2nd, 2021, Nickel Plate Road 765 would be staying at the Mad River & NKP Railroad Museum in Bellevue OH for 2 weekends after the Steam in The Valley Event at the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad concluded in Mid-September, to reunite NKP 765 & 757, the event being called Berkshires in Bellevue. I had set out to Bellevue OH, after visiting the Berea OH Model Train Show with @CHQRails & ATRAIN0105! I would see @NorfolkSouthernModel & @PainesvilleRailfans at the Show before heading to Bellevue for the Members Night Photo Shoot. I would then meet up with @chendersonrailproductions704,@ToledoRails, & Business Car 10 Productions at Bellevue! We would bump into @NorfolkSouthernModel again here at Bellevue! Nickel Plate Road 765 would be staying at the Mad River & NKP Railroad Museum in Bellevue OH for 2 weekends after the Steam in The Valley Event at the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad concluded in Mid-September. I would trek out to Bellevue due to a Members Night Photo Shoot on the 2nd, as I was @chendersonrailproductions704 guest for the shoot, as they allowed 1 guest for members to bring. I would capture some of the caboose rides before they would set the 757 up for the photo shoot. To our surprise they would hook a hose from the NKP #765 to the NKP #757 and the 757 would whistle battle against her sister 765 for the first time in over 60 years. Then we would be treated to a dinner before the photo shoot. Rain did hinder the photo shoot but did allow for some cool photo opportunities. Never did I think I'd see 2 NKP Berkshires together again, and also to hear them whistle battle each other! An experience I will never forget.
Thanks to the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society, The Mad River & NKP Railroad Museum, and Norfolk Southern for allowing this event to take place.

Here’s a fun little thing, I was the one blowing nkp 757’s whistle throughout the whistle battle, and I will say I definitely lost to 765
Without a fire in the belly of 757, you just couldn't get the same pressurized steam needed to play the full dynamic range of the whistle as you could on 765. This is because it was cooling down going through that rubberized pipe between the two locomotives.
757 still sounded great.
765 almost sounded overblown at times because of so much pressure behind it. Regardless, whenever two antiques like that get together, it's all very special indeed!
Hope you had lots of fun!
Now that is cool. how excited were you when you got into the cab of the engine? 765 had a great whistle. I would agree as well. But boy oh boy was 757 a more surprising engine to see.
@@funtechxtream8753 It was a real treat, as I'm a member and volunteer of the FWRHS it was a real privilege and that is coming from someone who loves NKP 759
765 has a bit more "scream" to it
Only if i had something to do with steam trains like that
I would say that I sometimes wonder why I'm a railfan, but then I see videos of stuff like that whistle battle, and all that wondering just evaporates.
Also, seeing 765 with a black smokebox again is fantastic. It makes it look close to how it did back in it's revenue days on the Nickel Plate, and I'm all for that. Now if only they'd paint the firebox black again. And 757 with the oscillating headlight alongside the 765 is a tasty cherry on top of the already delicious cake.
I think we all question that sometimes lol, the amount of effort put into going to see stuff like this, but in the end, it's almost all the time worth it.
I was talking with one of the employees at the Mad River & NKP Museum, and they said they plan to do this event again next year. I now know to buy tickets for the night photoshoot lol
It wouldn't suprise me. I'd most likely attend again. I think I'd try the night shoot that was nearly $200, as the Members shoot was great, just think there could've been more to it and I believe it was cut short due to the rain

Hey I talked to you! I was that younger kid towards the end.
Wow, 2 Berkshires meeting eachother for the first time in over 60 years
Yep!
its not the first time two berks have met each other. 765 has also met up with sister engine 759 at Steamtown I think in 2015, its met up with PM 1225 before, and technically it has met up with C&O 2716 back when the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society took up its lease.
@@Michael-eg3rs oh rlly
4:23 to 9:01 glad to hear 757’s bell for the first time in over 63 years
Is 765 bell a bronze bell?
Great to see two NKP Berkshire type locomotives reunited with one another and the whistle battle was interesting, but from my personal judgement I like the sound of the whistle from engine 757 the best.
It indeed was awesome to witness this in person.
When I was there, I rode in the cab if 765 and actually blew the whistle of the amazing locomotive
That's awesome!
If only there was a way to get 1223 reunited with 1225, and did something similar to this
Edit: That would be awesome to see
Definitely would be cool
I've been waiting to see 765 reunite with one of her sisters. Such an spectacular moment ❤❤❤
Yes it was!
It did reunite with sister berk 759 in 2015 when it visited Steamtown.
Glad to hear 760s whistle on 757 it was on 765 in the past year but now it’s gonna remain on 757
I personally think once 760's whistle got up to pressure on 757, it sounded better than it did on 765 in 2018 at Steam In The Valley.
Awesome! Just AWESOME!
Glad you like it!
OMG! Can I Cry Now! So Beautiful!
Yeah it sure was a touching moment especially when they began whistle battling
I love the sound of the bell on 757 💜
Let’s get that 587 back in steam! I have slides, somewhere.
I believe that's the plan for 587. It's just currently owned by someone privately so we'll see how that goes!
This is truly outstanding!
It indeed was! Glad you enjoyed!
@@GTRailFanProductions Too bad the Fort Wayne crews didn't even try that with No. 759 in Steamtown...
Delighted Thanks 🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤
They do not make them like this anymore.

I hope they do this in St. Louis with 4014 and 4006
That would be cool!
Amazing video! Keep up the good work.🙂
Thanks! Appreciate the kind words
That bell of that engine is just sounded like in the 90's! and the other? Sounded just like that in 2009!
If only 755 could be there to. From Conneaut OH. Unfortunately that track it sits on doesn’t connect to anything.
Yeah there isn't a place for the 765 to meet the 755 in Conneaut sadly
I Love Every American Steam Locomotives
757: "It's good to see you again, sister. You've made a very good name for us."
765: "Oh, sister, it isn't just me. You and I are cut from the same cloth, after all, or should I say built from the same plans."
Such beauty 765 npr
I Love It a Lot
I bet you the 757 was thanking her sister for letting her borrow some steam so her voice be heard once again
757 was probably glad to be able to speak again
I agree 757 is absolutely happy to see her sister 765
They're Gorgeous!!!!
Yes they are! Thanks for watching. Make sure to comment/like/share & subscribe if you haven't already!
Thanks for posting this video!
Very well done!
Glad you enjoyed and thanks for watching
757 sounds so sad. 😢
But if I'm being honest, I like her whistle sound more because it isn't as raspy.
757's whistle did sound good and unique!
She looked sad while being moved.
The nickel plate road is coming back for more this year I cannot wait to see the schedule
That is awesome
Indeed it is. Thanks for watching
I hope one day we can see this one operational as well
It would be nice
I think there is currently a group of volunteers working on it right now
Hot-Damn! That is One Awesome Steam Locomotive Whistle!! :-D
Something I want to do in the future when I make a lot of money is get my favorite steam locomotives running again. Like Mainly I’m talking about getting the 587, 757 and the 759 to run again. doing excursions and other services with the 765.
So yes let’s go
Yessir 🤟
This is Awesome
Awesome Video
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it

Awesome, great video!!
Thanks! I'm happy you enjoyed it!
757: good night sis 765: good night 😴
I think the 765's bell should be on 757 & the 757's bell on 765 because I think 765 would sound better with 757's bell, especially knowing I'll sound like this 6:00. That's just my opinion
One of 765's siblings has come back to life, one day we might see them doublehead.
It’s not back to life.
@@1829entertainment What? But the whistle...
@@matthewpastrikos7383 Used the steam supply from the 765. It was not the 757’s steam.
@@silverstatehighiron 757 will eventually be restored in know that for a fact. When I just realized: never mind what I said 757 is not going to be restored
757 was simply supplied steam from 765 via a hose. It allowed 757 to be able to hold steam in her steam dome, making it capable for the whistle to be blown. I've heard their goal is a cosmetic restoration and maybe a step further of getting the 757 to run on compressed air.
Awesome video!
Thank you!
Imagine this but kind of reunion but with PM 1223 and 1225
2 Berkshires have a whistle battle. Nickel Plate Road #757 and #765. Nickel Plate Road #765 is operational while Nickel Plate Road #757 remains on static display.
I hope people will find money to restore 757 get her running
If only they could steam 757 up
Yeah I wish there was another NKP Berk fired up too man
It sadly wont run again we’ll idk it probably will in the future
@@Strasburg_Railfaner611 most likely not. There are better contestants like 763 & 759 that are in better shape for restoration. 759 would make the most sense as it would have somewhere to run but 765 3 wouldn't be out of the question if Age of Steam did find a way to run excursions
Supposedly a couple of years ago there was a fundraising effort to try get money for the engine to be restored. I don't know if it was actually the museum or just a fan club associated with them. They probably were inspired by the "Fire Up 611" campaign, but safe to say 757 needs a LOT more money and work than the J ever did.
Imagine this, did the NKP had any 4-8-4 versions of these engines? Including the Pere Marquette?
I don't believe either railroads bought Northerns. NKP ended their steam era with the Berks, and Pere Marquette was bought by Chesapeake & Ohio.
@@GTRailFanProductions I'm just trying to imagine what an NKP and a Pere Marquette 4-8-4 would look like if they have not ended their steam era.
@@artismbyjoey779 probably wouldn't look too different from its berks. Just with an extra trailing truck wheel
@Michael4201 I think you mean leading truck. The trailing truck already has four wheels.
757 has a real good whistle but 765 really had a loud whistle
Well yeah 765 is under steam while 757 is borrowing steam from 765 lol
Yep!
Nkp 765 isn’t the real 765 nkp original number was 767 basically your looking at 767 is running and 757 on display it’s really cool to see both sisters side by side
Did 757 kept her mars light throughout her years of service?
The Mars Light & Whistle were stolen when she was enroute to the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania back in the 60's.
@@GTRailFanProductionsoh dang that sucks did she get her mars light back? and i bet 765 was happy to see her sister 757
Hey! Love your video. I'm Elijah from Giraffe Lab, working on a game called "Railroader." We'd love to use the steam locomotive whistle sounds from your video to enhance our game's realism. We'll ensure you're properly credited. Could we have your permission? Thanks in advance for your help and consideration.
I am fine with you using the whistle sounds from this video as long as I am credited.
How did they acquire 760s whistle
Someone donated it I believe. 757's whistle & Mars Light disappeared on its trek to the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania back in the 60s.
Do they have plans to restore 757 to operating condition like her sister? Do we know where 763 is?
I believe they want to be able to run the 757 on compressed air but the least they'll do is a cosmetic restoration. NKP 763 is at the Age of Steam Roundhouse in Sugarcreek OH
@@GTRailFanProductions Will they get around to getting her running in the future?
If there's any interest w/those who have the deep pockets for it, my vote for another NKP Berk in steam would go to the 763. She was the Queen of the East end of the railroad.
NKP 763 was in mid-restoration when the Ohio Central Railroad was bought out by Gennessee & Wyoming and that's when it was halted due to the sale of the what would've been the host Railroad for NKP 763.
@@GTRailFanProductions Well I hope it happens anyway.
Is she in storage? @@GTRailFanProductions
@AlexThePatriot NKP 763 is on display at the Age of Steam Roundhouse I'm Sugarcreek OH
so nkp 765 has reunited with 759 and 757 what's next 763?
I would hope so lol. I wish 763 would get restored to operation. It almost did in the last decade but Jerry Joe Jacobson sold the Ohio Central and that put a holt to 763's restoration.
Maybe 2 cousins meeting! GWR 90 and Frisco 1630. Call it the Day of the Decapods!
Or even better 1630, n&w 475, and WMSR 734 (once she’s back) with an IRM reunion of steam
If 757 is inoperable, then how is it moving and whistling with steam?
It's stated in the video
Walking distance from the house
Oh wow
Can 757 be operated?
No it cannot.
Some train in the polar express
Does 757 run if not the Fort Wayne trust should buy it
No it doesn't. Fort Wayne already has 765 on their hands, then I believe they have a 600 series NKP loco they're going to eventually restore
hows the bell working on 757?? is it steam on something? and 757 whistle kinda drown down, they need to wait for more steam to to go in 757 before it can whistle
u can also notice the hose shaking stating that not enough steam
So what is that bobbing light above the original lamp? I remember seeing 765 years ago without it. Is it a new safety thing?
You're referring to the Mars light I'm assuming. It was an addition given to the Berks back in the 50's (I believe) for a safety device. Today it just wears it for authenticity.
@@GTRailFanProductions Probably helps keep the insurance bean counters happy as well for safety purposes on mainline excursions at track speed.
Is this year's now
What?
I talked to you :D
Oh cool! Was nice talking to ya 🤙
What time did you arrive?
In the early evening
I guess none of the other Nickel Plate Berkshire locomotives will ever run again
779 755 will be on display for the rest of their lives
763 will be restored to operation some day age of steam would like to if they get excursion premtions
759 needs flues no it will probably never run
757 mad river just doesn't have the money
@@OldIronVideo I understand
Out of all the Berks that remain, I believe 763 is the best contestant for restoration as it was in mid restoration before Jerry Joe Jacobson sold his Railroad, the Ohio Central Railroad. 759 and 779 would be the next runners up but 779 won't because the city doesn't let anyone get near the locomotive lol. 759 they could but I've heard mixed things on if they could really get it running and Steamtown's mixed attitude about it too.
Understood @@GTRailFanProductions
Ross Rowland was in talks with conneaut railroad museum to use 755 for freedom train, the offer was to return it to fully operational condition for nothing more than use of the locomotive for 2 years, a 2 year lease. They turned it down! And so, there it sits.
The only engine that still not in Berkshire railroad is the pere Marquette 1225
Wait what lol?
How many of this class is preserved
NKP 757, NKP 759, NKP 763, NKP 765, NKP 779. 6 of this class remains.
@@GTRailFanProductions thanks
Why can't 757 run on the mainline as 765?

Uhh not every panning shot is going include the wheels, especially when the locomotives are going crawling speed.
