Sailing Magic Carpet Wow I love your videos. Magic Carpet looks amazing sailing underway. She does have a soul that you guys created. Kinda like a child. She handles the big swell really well. You guys are proving you don’t need a massive boat to sail the world. Greetings from Australia 🇦🇺 👍

Being a retired navy officer, the Sea is a second nature for me. Sailing as a family has been my dream. For the last six years I have been trying to convince my wife to quit our jobs and take our three kids on a once in a lifetime voyage through the Mediterranean, the French canals, and to the Pacific. Six months ago, she said yes, and we are currently buying our boat to start in Greece in a couple of months.
I might have to thank you both, but specially to you, Maya, for helping me inspiring her. That is the power of what you do.
    Thank you.

If you really love storytelling there is an other sailing channel call ""sailing galopin"", his storytelling is also one of a kind too.
Sailing galopin and sailing magic carpet are both great storytelling sailing channels, they both seem to make the most out of life so effortlessly.

I wanna do this so bad. I'm 36, was in the Navy and Army for 13 years, got out and came home and didn't feel like I fit in anymore. Not into politics, not into war and arguing, I just wanna live my life, see the world and make friends. I really desperately wanna do this. I make 1800 a month from a pension. I have 3 farms smallest being 150, im thinking about selling it to buy a boat, and giving my sister the other two farms for her kids because I don't have any and getting a boat and leaving Kentucky and just going back out on the ocean. I loved it in the navy, waking up and seeing the sun come up, the smell of the ocean, the stars at night that are endless across the sky.

I’m 55 , I think my favorite pastime is looking at Cuddy cabin videos . I never read comments, but yours caught my eye. I was in the army from 88 to 92 , I saw the wall fall . When I got out, I moved to Bowling Green and attended western. ATTENDED, lol….. I have one solid army buddy … I live in New Orleans , grew up here, And our big plan was to buy a 18 to 22 foot boat , Launch it in Nashville in the Cumberland - and navigate the locks all the way to the Mississippi and cruise down the Mississippi home to New Orleans . lol .. we were so close to making that a reality but for one reason or another, it fell apart… We were about 24 years old then.. We have been talking about how much we regret not doing that for 30 years now… I said all that to say this … if you can make it happen, do it. Adventures like that are life-changing and enlightening experiences… You might or you might not regret it in the future, I know we do… 30 years we’ve been talking about this damn adventure - The plan is not as wild and risky as it was, but now we are going to launch in Biloxi and hug the coast all the way to St. Petersburg/ Clearwater….. We are not as strong or as carefree as we would have been way back then, but dammit my army buddy and I are gonna make this happen , lol…. At this point, it’s almost a lifelong obsession… lol…. Also brother, if that pension you get is V.A. related get that amount upped !!! I know quite a few vets who have….. Good luck, my brother. I hope you make it happen.!!!

Perfect little video, I like it better than most vlog entries because it has a little story to tell instead of just telling what's going on.
I am a sailor myself now nd it's a great life, I miss nothing from landlife. Always was a social outsider, so I never had much friends, nd I don't have family to miss. I am perfectly fine sailing from place to place, superficially meet people and then carry on.

I'm in the process of going to school for boat building and maintenance, I'm also going to sail school. It's going to take me about 3-4yrs to get what I want, but at the end of it I'll have a boat and a home and a bunch of skills to take care of myself and my home and make enough money to keep it all floating. And wonderful people like you inspired me to pursue this. I'm a poor kid from Montana and I never thought that my fantasy of sailing and living that life were impossible. But now I'm in Seattle and things just fell into place with help and luck. I really hope I can do what you do someday, and who knows maybe I'll see you out there someday. Seems like a lot of young people these days have realised that money is not important, but others things like having time and each other really are. I think that's wonderful. When I grew up (teenager in the 1980's, lived through Thatcher, Reagan etc) a lot of people were so materialistic and money focused. Your videos are wonderful, and beautifully filmed. We enjoyed visiting Minorca once and your photography captures it very well!

A great story, and a wonderful life. Thank you for sharing it. 21 years ago my wife and I were in our late 20's and sailed away from the West Coast of Canada on a 27' foot boat called Yehudi. Yehudi (the invisible friend) also had a soul... and was 'home' in more ways than just a place to sleep. We, like you, missed our families and friends, (and still do) but also knew we had to travel the path less taken and find our way.. You have articulated this so well. Your video has brought up so many memories it brought tears. We found our way to New Zealand and have been 'anchored' here ever since. We were perhaps 'richer' then without money, but money or no money, no one can prepare for what blindsides you on a Thursday morning in an emergency department. So don't listen to any naysayers, and don't change a thing. We spent 8 years living on our beautiful little boat, and put thousands and thousands of miles under her keel. Sometimes it feels like it was just a dream, but she carried us to new places and ways of being.
What ever may come for you, I hope good health embraces you, and that you continue to adventure far and wide. Although we didn't have video or digital cameras back in 99, I still hold onto the beautiful sunsets and welcoming rises.... and of course Dolphins.
I look forward to more stories from magic carpet
    Fair winds.

Some videos feel longer than they are because they're boring, but this one put me in a trance and I felt like I was living in this life for hours in bliss. Great video, and I'll have a space of credit for you in my mind when I buy my own boat and live like this myself. I've been lost for so long but ever since I discovered sailing and found out this could be a way of living, I've had a lot of hope and joy building in my heart. Thanks

As farmers we havent been able to leave this place...as sailors we dream to one day like you leave the land that has grounded usfor so long. We recently started a sailing channel inspired by you and Aledino. YOu honestly are the best channel out there. Your feelings of wondering how to be happy go deep down for me too. I love to watch your stories and as a previous professional dancer LOVE to hear instruments being played on a boat! ONe day I hope to be a patreon but right now cannot afford it. Be safe and fair winds and much love to you, Aledino and Magic Carpet. Just beautiful!

Remember those sailboats when I was a kid in Sweden. All Vindö boats were extremely well built, had stunning wood works, were often sailed by crusing people, and therefore "undersailed", which gave them a bad reputation as sailors........ It's really nice to see you sail actively, with modern sails in good condition, and the restore their reputations as sailors.....
And yes, back then i the seventies, the were really expensive......
    The were really exceptional boats.....
    Congratulations! .....

28ft is all the boat you need. I had the same experience with Chica. Wonderful times first with a cat, then with my little daughter. For me the horizon doesn't pull me the way it used to. There's a time for that also. Fair winds to you.

At 28 feet, your possessions no longer own you. My dad years ago said "You can't make a living playing video games," but now you can. Anyone who says "You can't make a living as a sailor" similarly doesn't know what they're talking about. The violin lamp fixture is a brilliant re-purpose of a broken item.

" My dad years ago said "You can't make a living playing video games," but now you can. " Your dad was right actually, there's insane competition in the videogaming industry, it's much easier to make a living being a sailor than, say, being a pro gamer or streamer.

You are such a big inspiration for me. I live already on my 31 feet Albin ballad and have big cruising plans in the near future as well. Sometimes I'm dreaming of a bigger boat with more comfort But you lovely people show us that you don't need that at all to have a good liveaboard experience. I will share this video in my facebook group Tiny liveaboards less than 33 feet.
