Team, Is the rest of this line on the upcoming schedule? I’m curious about the QA 5050 (can it come even closer to the concept 50?) and the 5020/5010 and 5090 for a HT setup.
Yeah, I've always enjoyed the relationship these 2 have. Gives me a happy feeling inside lol. I know that look and feeling...I love my partner as well.
Because Andrew doesn't want to find himself sleeping on the sofa ;) . Seriously, I enjoy and respect Andrew's take on things but it's Kristi's opinion and their banter which sets this channel apart. I value her opinion as much as I do Andrew's when I'm trying to decide which speakers to purchase. I'm in the process of doing that right now as I'm 63 years old and I'm looking for end-game speakers which I'll thoroughly enjoy until they plant me in the ground, I'm looking at towers and $2000 is my limit and I would prefer to spend no more than $1500 but there are soooo many viable choices these days in the $1K-$2K range that it makes your head spin. The KLH Kendall piqued my interest(particularly in the maple veneer finish) and then two weeks ago I learned they're releasing it's successor, the Kendall 2F, in the coming days.....decisions, decisions.
I agree with the comparo between these 5040s and the 50s about the better cabinet dampening, but there's also one of the most important parts of a speaker that was left out of the conversation, the crossover quality. Especially when talking about a given speaker's sound staging abilities . I love your straight up honesty Christie. Thanks for the video you guys. Excellent work as usual.
This channel has the best review format hands down. I say this a lot, but I swear we're in a golden age for hi-fi. From speakers to amplifiers to DACs, the advancements in quality are kinda crazy.
I think having Kristi’s opinion is one of the strongest features of this channel! She gives a “second opinion” or even some additional context that is invaluable. Great video
After auditioning QA concept 500, 300, 50, 30, I can definitely declare that only the 500 and 300 deliver the detail and imaging I like, but all lack the dynamic impact and scale I consider acceptable. In my opinion at least two sealed 10' subs must be added, and that's just for music listening never mind HT. Andrew and Kristi have reviewed better cost to performance speakers. Polk 700 & Klipsch RP 8000F. These two don't deliver the micro details of the Q acoustics speakers, but are far more dynamic and deliver a large scale enveloping sound when the music or soundtrack demands it.
I own the Q Acoustics M20 HD with the 3060s subwoofer. I know they are budget active speakers and as I use them as desktop speakers but damn are they clean sounding and just lovely!
My whole seperates surround system uses various Q Acoustics speakers , i have found they give an excellent performance at sensible prices and avoid the listening fatigue that other brands give you when watching long movies or listening to music for long periods. For now i am happy with what i have, buying these speakers soon after release will mean paying full MSRP and that is against my way of buying gear.
A couple of months ago I bought a pair of Q Acoustic 5050, and I liked them so much that I decided to purchase these 5040, for a smaller room, giving an opinion about them, is really simple, they are simply Sublime, defined treble as drawn by Rotring, deep bass , but controlled, these 5040s have the same philosophy as The Ivy League, if you are a brilliant student you stand out, but if not, they don't help you, I mean, if the recording is good, the 5040s shine incredibly, and they allow you appreciate every detail, they are dynamic and lively, now, if the recording is no good enough, you see all the flaws. Listening to I can explain by Rachelle Ferrell, with these 5040, is to live the experience of seeing her sing in your own home. Extraordinary, they are clearly differentiating, if you are looking for definition and bass control, it is difficult to find something better out there.
I started with the Q Acoustics 2050i range before upgrading to 3050i but seriously the difference in quality was marginal at best considering how much more expensive they cost. Sure I love the 3050i floor standing for its better balance and looks but that really is about it, sound wise there is little to no difference with the earlier older 2050i range. What does make a huge difference is your amp and the source of your media vinyl or digital. Obviously QA made little money from the 2050i range and a little more on the 3050i but they were never going to make it big in that segment, cut throat competition so here we have the top of the range for those who have money to burn and probably listen to obscure music like jazz and classical !! For any form of rock the 2050i/3050i are sublime speakers especially matched with a half decent sub.
Love your channel, you helped me select a great surround system with the Q Acoustics 5040 towers and 5020 back and center channel with the Yamaha RX V6A av receiver and sounds incredible. Kristi and yourself keep it very fun and informative and love the double perspective. You are my favorite audio review channel and keep up the great work!!
Thanks for sharing. Quick question on your 5040 speakers. Each speaker comes with a stabilizer attached to the rear of the speaker. I've seen 2 different measurements for the width of the speaker including the stabilizer . I have space issues. 1) 11.5" from Q Acoustics & 2) 14.2" from Crutchfield Can you confirm which is correct including the rear stabilizer if you can measure ? Thanks
Recently picked up a pair of 5040's from Crutchfield. The mids and top end clarity are somberly amazing with this speaker. In our room, it's just about perfect. The only think lacking for me is that the lows could definitely stand to be a little bigger, even though we have them only about 8" off our front wall. Going to gibve them some more break in period to see if the lows open up, but right now, I'm slightly preferring the new Focal Theva No.2 towers we also bought for comparison. The Q Acoustics mids are top end are more revealing and less fatiguing, but the low end on the Theva's is much deeper and punchier, regardless of the listed low end spec of 53Hz. Really tough call as to which ones we are keeping. I'm wondering if the upcoming 5050 might just be exactly what we are looking for. The 5040's mids and highs with a bit bigger low end from the bigger drivers.
I like the conversation about dialogue intelligibility you had with Kristi. Over the years I've always preferred speakers and headphones that can deliver detail and clear dialogue without having to be forward to do it. The KEF Reference 1s that I owned were a good example of this - the dialogue and top end detail was super real, super clear to my ears but just not forward. Too forward and it becomes artificial and that grinds on me. I'm a classical muso and one thing another musician told me once was 'if you play that musical line a bit softer it will make it more audible' and what I garnered from that is that due to playing it a bit less it becons an audience to listen for it. Drawing the ears in. Perhaps that's what Kristi is experiencing with dialogue. Because it's more real, more believable and less forward it's more intelligible? Anyway, thanks for the review!
I found the section comparing this speaker to other previously reviewed speakers especially helpful for making a decision in terms of trade-offs and pricing. Really made the video worthwhile for me.
I always look forward to the reviews. They are not only very informative but so entertaining with the banter between Andrew and Kristi. Keep up the great work!!! Always a pleasure watching your videos.
Keep doing what you doing. Love the banter. Keep showing pictures of listings of compassion speakers, with prices .. helps to put things in perspective. Consider (!) doing "does it work nearfield/ on the desk" for smaller bookshelves.
Andrew and Kristi, awesome review again. You guys nailed it, and the contrasting opinions on some of the comparable speakers. It was reminiscent of an Abbot and Costello bit. Your fast becoming my favorite review team. One of the things really great about your channel is that while you review higher end products, you expose the value in the more affordable equipment( klipsch 8000M2). I'm looking for new speakers now and using your channel to aid in the search.
I really love you guys. You have a really interesting dichotomy going on between both of you. Yeah. I like the fact that you guys are very light hearted between both of you even when you’re in disagreement and somewhat passionate about your personal views.😂
Fun video. Correct me if wrong, Christi seems to want speakers that are a little brighter with also clarity... so long as they have nice finish. You i think like little more balanced transparent speaker... and like wood finish.
Looking at building a 5 channel home theater with the 5000 series. It's $1,500 for the mains, $600 for the center, and $750 for the surrounds. That's $2,850 and then a sub, ideally a small one like SVS 3000 Micro. That's almost as much as the Q Acoustics 50. This is very compelling and the speakers look awesome with their curves and Scandinavian feel.
With the new 5050s, woofers got upsized by one inch. Easily the best value I heard at AXPONA in a tower for $2000. There were speakers twice that didn't sound any better
This is and always will be a Kristi support comment, even when she’s wrong 😄 Seriously tho I've heard my friends’ Bro 3’s and really liked em, but I’ve not heard the other speakers in this review so I really can’t make a comparison
How would you think the QA 5040 would sound close to a small bedroom rear wall and near field (6ft?) listening position. My old solid bookshelf/smallish speakers with subwoofer seem to cover the complete frequency range to me-with holographic imaging and good vocal presence (using an equaliser to tone down the upper midband). I’d hate to purchase these to find they didn’t suit when squeezed into the bedroom.
Good morning! Thank you for a great Sunday review. 😊To your point regarding improvements in products year-to-year. Klipsch has done a good job in this space (800oF). It's also interesting how some manufacturers are narrowing the delta between their high-end and entry-level products. We've seen this with Polk, for instance. WIth the 5040s, I'm really impressed by the price. $750 per speaker seem like a deal! Love the BRO vs 5040 comparison as well! 🤣 Thanks for a great Sunday morning!
Kristi is the more perceptive one! I am glad Kristi was firm. Andrew, you admitted at the end of the video that the cabinet construction in the 50 made a difference. If you had not, what you were saying is that the 5040 is almost equivalent to the 50, which leads discernable viewers to think that the engineering on the 50 (gel, mounting and bracing) is not that impactful sonically. Cabinet engineering is the raison d'etre for the concept line, borrowed from the more expensive 300 and 500. Q has to leave something out to make the 5040 cheaper. If what they took out does not make that much difference, then... you get the point. You did Q, and your subscribers, a disservice on this one, although you did recover at the end thanks to Kristi. It's the charm of your format. Love you both.
We need a smaller Monitor Audio silver line towers review. 200 or 300's . I feel like they are worthy opponents for the late reviews on the channel. Great review 👍
I was able to listen to these at Axpona in Chicago yesterday and I was very impressed with their sound. Especially considering they had zero acoustic treatment in the room compared to other vendors there. This is going to be a popular line of speakers, especially with how good they look
Good morning Andrew. Enjoy all of your reviews, nice job on giving a detailed description of all of the speakers that you review. I am trying out the Focal 926s. I also also have the Canton Chrono sl 590.2 dc. I have had them a few years. They are very good, but I think the focal have better depth and a wider stage. the cows are a tad on the bright side, but I think after a few weeks of breaking them in, they should settle down a little in the treble. What is your opinion on the focal 926 versus the Q acoustics 5040?

Do you believe that they are a good fit for a Marantz PM7000N? Also, do they play well at low volume, or are they this kind of speaker that only reveals its highlights at higher volume? Since I live in an apartment, I need them to play well in low volume. Thank you!
I had focal 836w. You described well the sound of Foczl Coral, this is the reason I prefer a sound less bright and you connect them to amplifier class D I cannot stand. Punchy, yes, refined I don't think so. They have sometimes too much luminance and I don't find that the scene is open but too directive.
Loving the review as always. Interesting to learn about the differences and similarities of the QA's. As for who is right, that is difficult to say without having had the chance to do my own listening. So I will of course be on Kristi's side. Any chance of a review of some "bigger" speakers? I would love a review of a set of Dynaudio Contour 60i. It would also provide the option to compare those to a "smaller" sibling set or for that matter a significantly "larger" sibling set.
Thanks for your reviews, I'm a fan of yours. If you had to choose between this speaker and monitor audio 200 7g to combine with it blousound powernode which one would you choose? Thank you very much.❤
I own the little concept 20s, hooked up to a roksan Kandy amp and the new marantz cd 60. I just like the way the concepts go about their business.Smooth, detailed and fast. Q acoustics make great speakers.
Love the video! Been a fan for years now. I really like the different perspectives, which makes me pause, before making a purchase! Keep up the great work!
Nice. How do they compare to the 500’s though? Sounds like the 500’s aren’t that much better? Is Q gonna come out with a new flagship speaker after the concept 500? I like their approach to speaker making. Love your channel and how your wife chimes in. It’s endearing Dig it. MTMs are addictive. Beautiful soundstage. I have an MTM pair of speakers. Love the design.
Awesome. I just got out of Axpona. Touched base with some cool folks from Emotiva snd Just Audio, and many gorgeous speakers and components. Came back to the car, and your video is up!! Cheers
Having a hard time picking between Arendal 1723 and Martin Logan XTF. Heard them both and they both sound amazing. Just wish I could hear them side by side, and in my room. Have any thoughts?
Is it possible that Kristi found the vocal intelligibility of the Concept 50 better, despite being less forward (or loud) than the 5040, because of its superior resolution? I suspect this may be the case..
Thanks for the video, very interesting to hear how speakers are evolving especially so quickly. I may listen to both 5040 and 50’s if given the opportunity in the future. Look forward to seeing if these speakers end up in the end of the year video. Already excited for that kef review whenever it comes.
I have those speakers paired with a 3090c center speaker which isn't all that good. Do you think the 5090 is the way to go, or can I better go for the concept 90/svs ultra?
Somehow magically you guys get your hands on the speakers and equipment which just got released 😇, not too long ago Audiolab 7000A now Q acoustics 😁👍🏻. You guys keep us on our toes all the time, i keep waiting for your videos all the time! Thanks for these wonderful videos😇
Hard to buy a bad speaker these days. But after owning Kef Q750 and Q650C I’ll never have anything other than Kef UniQ speakers in my space. They’re magical in terms of soundstage and imaging.
I have the KEF 550 and I agree with you. I would possibly switch speaker brands but that brand would have to offer some sort of concentric driver. Once you listen to concentric imaging, I don't think you can go back.
I love the Choras . I use them for movies and music . The center channel is great for hard to understand accents or dialogue . Kristi I agree is always right
Ooooooooo. They look fantastic. So, do I chase these or wait for the bigger 5050 to drop? Oh to have lovely decisions on audio. Thank you so much for this terrific video! And yes, right NOW is the Golden Age of audio.
Gorgeous speaker! If this scores an 8/10 in terms of sound quality, the look propels to a 9-9.5... There's a subtle Q like outline around the drivers - nice touch and a continuation of the curve-on-curve design. I wish they had allowed bi-amping. Who would have thought that Q Acoustics's cheapest speaker would be the most visually interesting speaker this year?
Hi Andrew n Kristi , Just another Question , I have Demo the Concept 40 , their clarity/ Separation is the best of the best I've heard compared in their price class range , would the QA 5040 matched or near the concept level in this area. This is their best part in my opinion about the Concept Range Speakers clarity , clarity n clarity . My EVO 4.2 , R200 , Emit 20 , Ikon 7 won't have this level of clarity and separation compared to the QA Concepts ! I'm really appreciated that you are able to answer my Question. My Next upgrade on my list will be the QA Concept 50 , Dali Opticon or the Martin Logan XT f100 but the high price it seems out of reach to me. Your Channel is the Greatest Channel Ever n Kristi is the best partnership in this channel , both of you shines in the Hi-Fi Audio n Video Review Industry On TH-cam ! Thank You for All The Hard Works The Best Team work Ever 💯💖....
Good morning Andrew and Kristi. Thank you so much for your videos. I am thinking about introducing some tube into my system. Do you think that putting the 5040 with the Willsenton R8 or the Heaven 11 MK2 would be a good match?
@@NosEL34 I would not likely pair the 5040s with the Decware unless it was a more powerful model, or you were content in a larger room with listening at levels below 80dB MAX! The Arylic is 30WPC and at full volume it only got the 5040s to 80dB peaks at a distance of 10-12 feet which is why I say what I said about that amp, the Decware would fare a little worse.
Great review you guys. But I can use your help because I want to upgrade my speakers from B&W CM9, to the 702, s3. My question to you is there another brand that I should get over the B&W since you listen to so many other types of speakers. What do you think?
Hearing a lot of people saying a lack of bass but been an owner of the 3050i which are a bass monster are these really bright and thin as some are saying.
Thanks for the review 🙂I'am Focal guy, idk they just know what they're doing, can't find anything which can match it: sound quality, low volume perfomance, design, price, made everything in house, ability to disappear if you know something who can do it at the same price, please feel free and let me know. Focal fanboy here, no offense 🤷♂
hello there, sorry I do have a few questions on this review..why have you not tested them with the technics sug700? especially as you mentioned the technics 700 is your dream amp paired with the concept50 ? .. and all the speakers you mention in comparison... is this a direct comparison? with the same amp? or "audio memory" ? with different amps?.. I am confused here, you need to directly compare speakers with the same amp.. anything else is...
7:55 I like those "3-ray" speakers 😁 I had Dahlquist DQ-10 speakers for 30 years, but recently had to part with them for lack of room. I was a bit sad to see them go, but I got a pair of QA 3050 brand new for $339. The sound is amazing, and imaging is scary. I hear sounds far outside the speakers, often thinking the sound is outside the house. I would choose the 5040 over the Klipsch any day. I don't like my ears bleeding from the horns.

The word "enjoyed" doesn't even come close! It was, and I use this word carefully, fantastic (utterly). THANK YOU 😁😁😁
I really love Q's clean design. The fact that their whole catalog is worth a listen sweetens the deal. Simple and gorgeous.
In my 30+ years of hifi listening, there is a reason I currently own the Concept 500s. I absolutely love them.
I love the genuine interested look Andrew has when Kristi is speaking. The look of interest and understanding what is being said.

Yeah, I've always enjoyed the relationship these 2 have. Gives me a happy feeling inside lol. I know that look and feeling...I love my partner as well.

True! The 50s definitely use higher quality components in the crossover which is mounted on an isolation base.

This is and always will be a Kristi support comment, even when she’s wrong 😄
Seriously tho I've heard my friends’ Bro 3’s and really liked em, but I’ve not heard the other speakers in this review so I really can’t make a comparison
😂
I have to say, the Concept 50 in white gloss is one of the highest end looking speakers on the market.
After your reviews a while back, I purchased the 50’s and paired them with the Technics SU -G 700M2. Very happy.
So glad you're enjoying your setup! Thank you so much for sharing!
I love these speakers looks price its a winner in my book big fan of q acoustics great sounding speakers thx u Andrew Kristi )) ...
Appreciate both perspectives. So much info to dig into.
Glad it was helpful!
Appreciate you joining us DaWayne!
TH-cam really needs to add more thumps up. One for Kristi, and a second one for Andrew.
As always, another great review. How do you think they would sound with the new Sony 5000ES?
Great.
Good to know.
Get the Choras while you still can!
Wow you got hold of these quickly ,I didn’t think I’d see a review anywhere for months
Q Acoustics sent these to us weeks ahead of their launch, we've just kept them a secret until now.
Very cool that you got these in already. Im really liking the finish and the price. Definitely on my list for next pair of speakers. Great review.
Just heard these at Axpona! I am with Andrew and Kristi, a great bang for buck here. These sounded really nice. ❤❤
Wonder how the new 5050 compare to the concept 50 and 5040?
It’s endearing
Dig it.
MTMs are addictive. Beautiful soundstage. I have an MTM pair of speakers. Love the design.
Andrew, what would be a solid but not crazy expensive upgrade over my Klipsch RP-260F speakers? Are these QA5040s it? Or the 600 M II bookshelf's etc.
Awesome. I just got out of Axpona. Touched base with some cool folks from Emotiva snd Just Audio, and many gorgeous speakers and components. Came back to the car, and your video is up!! Cheers
Just Audio is cool....
@@KristiWright Agreed they couldn’t have been nicer. Great guys and gals.
The banter in this one was great fun guys. Thank you.
How 5040 will do against Wharfedale Evo 4.4?
Having a hard time picking between Arendal 1723 and Martin Logan XTF. Heard them both and they both sound amazing. Just wish I could hear them side by side, and in my room. Have any thoughts?
Is it possible that Kristi found the vocal intelligibility of the Concept 50 better, despite being less forward (or loud) than the 5040, because of its superior resolution? I suspect this may be the case..
Very informative take Kristi. Thanks.
Another great team review 👏 You are killing it with your different views that are shared so effectively!
This was a great review. I appreciated the comparisons and you really shed a ton of light on the Focal Chora line!
Glad it was helpful!
Hi Andrew, Please suggest 9.2.4 HT setup using Q5040, Q5090,Q5020, SVS SB3000(Dual), DM95(Heights, Celling) and Marantz SR8015. is this setup good?
Thanks for the great review! How do these compare to the Concept 500 given that they are the flagship speakers but the new model has new technology?
Kef q750 are a bit cheaper than the 5040 now where I live.. at similar or lower prices would you go for the kef q750 over the 5040s?
Gorgeous speaker! If this scores an 8/10 in terms of sound quality, the look propels to a 9-9.5... There's a subtle Q like outline around the drivers - nice touch and a continuation of the curve-on-curve design.
I wish they had allowed bi-amping.
Who would have thought that Q Acoustics's cheapest speaker would be the most visually interesting speaker this year?
Guuuuuyyyys! How could you not compare this to the 3050i? 🤔
Great video. How do you compare the sound of 5040 and Monitor Audio Silver 300 7G?
Good morning Andrew and Kristi. Thank you so much for your videos. I am thinking about introducing some tube into my system. Do you think that putting the 5040 with the Willsenton R8 or the Heaven 11 MK2 would be a good match?
I really liked it there are so many choices but I was looking at the focal for along time glad you had a chance to talk about them.
Nice review. Would love of you included a tube amp eval when reviewing speakers over 90db sensitivity.
Can the Decware run the 5040?
I second your thoughts about adding tube amp eval to appropriate speakers
@@NosEL34 I would not likely pair the 5040s with the Decware unless it was a more powerful model, or you were content in a larger room with listening at levels below 80dB MAX! The Arylic is 30WPC and at full volume it only got the 5040s to 80dB peaks at a distance of 10-12 feet which is why I say what I said about that amp, the Decware would fare a little worse.
Pull the Emotiva mono blocks out with the XLR connections.
Hi Andrew, how would you compare the Q Acoustics 5040 to the lumina 2?. Thank you
Excellent review. Fully agreed that QAcoustics 50 with less rolled of treble would be brilliant!
Great review you guys. But I can use your help because I want to upgrade my speakers from B&W CM9, to the 702, s3. My question to you is there another brand that I should get over the B&W since you listen to so many other types of speakers. What do you think?
If you already have an amplifier, but no tuner, what kind of AM/FM tuner do you like?
I come to this channel for the reviews but stay for the amazing Kristi-Andrew banter 😂
Aww thanks!!
Hello Andrew & Kristi are the Q Acoystics 5040 a good matching on the NAD C 3050.
Thanks
7:55 I like those "3-ray" speakers 😁
I had Dahlquist DQ-10 speakers for 30 years, but recently had to part with them for lack of room.
Hi Andrew, can I pair that to cambridge axr100, or which other good brands of speakers are a good to pair for my cambridge?…thanks
Hey Sir?
Which is the best centre channel speaker……. ?
I want wide n heavy sound!!
