- The Mainz is not just a good German ship, it's a good cruiser overall. Packing some ridiculous AP DPM while having a solid 38mm HE pen even without IFHE, it's a ship that's effective even without a special captain. Add in an icebreaker, 16 torpedoes and some trolly citadel armor and you got a neat package.

eastindies Released premium ships don’t get direct nerfs. They only get indirect nerfs like the smoke firing penalty and ifhe rework for the Kutuzov. Special ships (like Smolensk and Thunderer) do get direct nerfs sometimes.

They can't nerf it, it's a released premium for cash. Same reason they won't nerf Georgia
On NA they removed this in 5 days, thanks to flamuu video it will be nerfed now

But yeah, they can't nerf cash ships. The only way cash ships get nerfed is if they change game mechanics, like how the long-range invisible fire nerf screwed over the Atlanta.

WG: Wait a FUN German ship? That’s illegal! Hmmmmm, it’s a premium so we must make a global nerf....... yes yes we are going to announce that 150mm guns now have 1/8 pen, yes that’s a good change yes. Also cruisers with 150-155mm guns cannot have an icebreaker bow or turtleback armour.

@@nissan300ztt it can be great sometimes but the main battery is garbadge, even at close range hard to hit anything.
I played all T8 bbs except KII and liked all of them except Bismarck more than the Tirpitz.
Especially Massa, its 406mm with better pen angles, dispersion (or sigma? Idk, but it's better), better heal and way better secondary accuracy and AA. All for the trade of Torpedos that break mostly anyway.
@@Anldiot69 Dispersion or Sigma doesn't really make a Difference. If you have really high Sigma and high Dispersion you will still reliably hit. Which is the Reason Russian Accuracy doesn't get that much worse over Distance. The Dispersion increases, but high Sigma means that a lot of the shots will still hit where you're aiming.

Because of the increased performance of German Cruiser Mainz, her reload has been lengthened to 10 seconds, and the 1/4 German pen has been cancelled.
In other news, New soviet cruisers will be recieving 8km Hydro.
They can't nerf released premium ships so WG finally screwed up and gave us a good german ship

Thank you for making a video on desync. I had a post in the forum and i was talked down by other players like "learn to aim, its just you!". You just got their attention to focus on the actual problem!

The era of AP spamming was the original era of WoWs. I mean, sure HE spam was still stupid strong in the early days of WoWs, but AP was the name of the game.

Nothing wrong with AP spam. Unless it's the. "LOL I overmatch everything" kind
the difrence is that AP can be countered, angling and good positioning see to this. it also allows vessels with superior armor to act as spearheads, being more resiliant to it and able to push people away from caps. it was the main thing that drived early BB close quarter builds. but now? with HE being in an absurdly good state, there is nothing that one can do when pushing. pushing will net you tons of damage and multiple perma-fires that are going to kill you or destroy your game, all the while DDs are forced to hide from both HE campers and planes to not have a 30 seconds match. Really the only solution is to stand at the back of the map and snipe, which only benefits a handfull of ships, allong with the HE snipers themselves, or join the cancer with more HE spam cruisers in the hope of outcancering the other side. it makes for a lot of unfun one sided match with very little moments where i can look back at it and say "well if i had done this/team had done that, we would have won this"

So, I'm out of the loop here. Mainz is the proposed version of Hipper that instead of having the 203mm guns, it has the guns of the Nurnberg, yes? It looks fun and if I still played the game I'd probably buy it.

i like how russian "CL" with ice breaker bow has access to heal for tier 8 cruiser. meanwhile german has no access to heal.

Neither has Chapayev or Kutuzov access to heal. In fact its extremely easy to blap either one of them even if they are angled. Neither has 1/4th HE pen either nor 4x4 torps.

im talking about new soviet balans ship Pyotr Bagration. she got it allgot all, great guns. excellent concealment, good AA and excellent surviviablity with soviet unique commander and heal.

@@yansuki4240 TBH Chappy and Kutuzov have ice breaker bows (but its only 25mm). Pyotr Bagration has not been released. Kinda unfair to compare WIP ships to live ships. Also 180mm guns is hardly a light cruiser. In fact Chapayev is the best comparison for Mainz and i can telly you already that Mainz is much better.

atago has heal but it got poor range, armor, gigantic citadel and poor HP.
eugen has shit DPM and clumsy asf. it also no access to ice breaker armor. making yolo harder to pull. also has less torpedo power

When you consider the fact that they removed it from the shop and then had to make it available again, it shows WG true colors They sell a decent german ship and they get surprised that lots of people buy it, creating an artificial rise in its popularity Thankfully, is not an OP premium

Thank you for bringing the desync problem to our (my) attention. I've been frustrated a lot by not hitting anything, while you see the shells land at the middle of the ship. Ofc I'm thinking it has to do with me beeing potato, obviously. But it seemed to happen more than it should. (Rngesus actively rolling against you kind of feeling.)
I'll try giving more lead than needed, and see if it gets better.

@@vtr0104 BBs are designed to be slower than cruisers. He is talking about a DD that is not faster than a cruiser. The DD is definitively slower than Italian cruisers or French cruisers running speed booster.

Great video! Picked up Mainz, absolutely love the ship. In my experience it even uptiers well enough.
That torp hit at 2:44 it came from under the island... yesterday I got an invisible torp appearing just before it hit me while 4 others launched at the same time where visible.

Cause many people are above average like flamu and are able avoid getting shredded...
Mainz has ALMOST Identical AP pen - at every range, as the Kutuzov and Bayard. So while it is not GREAT AP pen, it can and will pen anything that Chapayev, Kutuzov, Irian,or Bayard can pen with AP, but it does 3900 damage instead of 3200 to 3300 AP damage!

The Mainz is a great ship and very fun to play. I would love to see more German ships that work in a similar way. Because it is based on the hipper, you can actually angle and defend as opposed to most other HE users that are either overpenned or citaled by whatever shoots them. So it becomes more a question of skill

Definitely a premium i enjoy and one of the most fun recently released ship without being game breaking or underwhelming and lutjens is basically tailors made for this ship.

So I've been playing this game from day 1 of it's official release, and I have a lot of higher tier ships both tech tree and premium. With so much already to choose from in port, the question for me on any new tier 8 premium that gets released is how much of a fun experience can this ship provide in order to stay relevant and actually used by me? Otherwise, as we all know, it isn't hard for a tier 8 premium to become a port queen very quickly with cob webs gathering on it... (Gives a spiteful glance to my Lo Yang and to my Alabama).

Pedantic naval historian moment: the features of the Mainz hull appear to have been built by Wargaming on the Prinz Eugen hull. Certain features like the location of the floatplane are the tell.
well, Mainz is WG's rendition of the "Seydlitz class"; the Seydlitz and Lützow were originally planned to be built as CLs with 4 of the German 3-gun 150mm gun turrets seen on both the Königsburg & Leipzig/Nürnberg classes

@Flamu if u have 40mm you got the Eugen armor, if you have the angled 30mm it is the hipper hull.

I think World of Warplanes has the same issue cropping up randomly and to varying degrees of severity - no latency spikes showing up, but planes warping and hits not registering.
Hey Flamuu, great gameplay! I was wondering. You worshiped the fighter here but I felt this thing is more an optical feature since on 17:00 you get 33 planes with your AA and one (1) enemy plane with your fighter. That doesent look to much worth for me smh. Keep up the good work. Cheers.

I found the biggest issue i have in the Mainz is kiting against those big scary 457mm+ guns when its uptiered. Those will just punch through your ass and lay down the hurt. I honestly found it better to be aggresive in all situations where its feasible against those.
not too mention that every BB will be licking its chops as soon as it sees you since your easy citadels at range

Great job getting this fixed. It has been frustrating as hell to deal with.
I agree that the Mainz is a good ship, but I DO think it should've had at least the proper Hipper armour and/or better camo (considering Tallin...), maybe a bit more speed (lighter ship), or a heal.
THOUGH that feeling might stem from some bias and a look at that mosnter called Pyotr Bagration
No stealth, no spotting, no heal... I think I'll pass. I do love the irony that this T8 CL has more functional armor than the T9 Super CA though. That's some quality WG balance for you.

So basically this ship needs it's effective guns to be useful. That is why the guns will be nerfed first, when it turns out to be effective in any way against the new Russian cruisers.

What i find baffling in this story is that on an issue like that WG must be made aware of its existence by the community. They should have testers on their payroll for that.
About fucking time that desync bug has plagued me for years, each time I've had to re install Windows to fix it
Might be a good premium, but I just deleted one of these at 20km with my Missouri, and the Mighty Mo can’t citadel anything.
Used to be able to. She used to have really good accuracy, but now she seems to have worse dispersion than the Germans.

It's a hipper/eugen but they forgot to apply the armor rework and it is 2mm lower than its brothers

No, it came from a torpedo bomber. If you look closely you can see the torpedo fall into the water for a split second and you can see the AA firing into the direction

I dont have the Mainz, but i have so meny premiums, im as example happy with my bayard, and ist more my playstyle. Do you Recomend IFHE on the 152mm guns ? or is fires the go an all these ships ?
DOMI _ You want to have IFHE in everything 180 and smaller. Simply because you won’t do any good up-tier battles. Also fires can be 100% healed and you leave your existence and success to chance.

There is a major difference between the Hipper and the Eugen Flamu. The Hipper has a 30mm turtleback, and the Eugen has a 40mm turtleback.
