How could anyone “dislike” this gorgeously raw rendition..... The audio is live and old albeit, but c’mon... This is heavenly and meaningful and spiritually transcending.... Something you want to make sweet memories to 💜
I first saw Bonnie and John Hammond at a club in Boulder, Colorado that year - 1972. I sat about 10 ft from them on the floor of what would've been the front row. It was a pretty amazing show.
Well, it is never too late. Get a guitar. Learn how to tune in and just start. 10,000 hours masters most things. What else are you doing with your down time? I'm doing it! So can you, dahlin'.
For me, the best cover of this song.Except the fact that it is just produced as a rehealsal.A such blues song should be played without a tempo, without a regular rythm, like Eric Clapton played it at the stage in its first live, because it is by nature the expression of some emotions coming as they are but without control.Bonnie Raitt plays this song like it should be.Thanks for Bonnie Raitt, Eric Clapton, Ric Grech, Ginger Baker, and Steeve Winwood, the author of the song.
++Kamel AMMI ALI Haley Reinhart has done an extremely fine cover with her father Harry Reinhart, backing on guitar, and he's a very fine guitarist. It's on her 3rd album, What's That Sound, recorded on analogue equipment giving a great sound, and letting the tonal colours of Haley's voice come through - and she has lots of tonal colours. I prefer Bonnie on more "dirty" blues songs like, for instance, Kokomo Blues. She's superb on that kind of number, and her guitar work is so great for that.
Thanks Trevor! I am going to try listening this cover from Haley Reinhart..... I am listening it now! It appears that she has a similar style than Bonnie as if she took this version as a reference. The main difference is that it appears as a final version and ready for a record. I like this cover from Haley Reinhart. Thank you for sharing Kamel
@@kamelammiali6755 I'm always pleased when someone else listens to and develops an appreciation of Haley Reinhart. She is certainly one of the most talented of the younger singers of today, and has a unique voice with great range of tonal colours unlike anybody else that I can think of. She is also hugely versatile, singing Jazz as well as Pops and Rock and Soul, even the odd Country number. Good numbers to look up would be her tracks with Postmodern Jukebox. She's done some great, classic covers with them, always different with the PMJ vintage-style arrangements. Happy listening.
Great stuff- very sad and plaintive from Bonny Raitt and Lowell George and I love it but does it really compare with Steve Winwood and Eric Clapton's version in the live concert or even better Winwood 's acoustic version- both of which are on You Tube ?
Type "Bonnie Raitt, Lowell George, John Hammond and Freebo 10/17/72 Ultrasonic Studios (audio only)" in the search on here. It's the entire session this was taken from.
I love the original Steve Winwood the best. No, wait, I think I love Bonnie's the best. Whoa ... I mean maybe I like Racheal Price's version the best? Ah heck, why chose? I love each one.
Of course without Lowell it can never be the same, but I must admit their late 80's comeback (Let It Roll) with Craig Fuller of PPL had some gems too. It wasn't the same, for sure, but some well written tunes.
Next to the original... this is my favorite. Her voice & the slide guitar makes it downright haunting

With Lowell on slide and Bonnie on vocal/guitar it couldn't be better!
He gave her a Coricidin bottle 'cause his 11/16th Craftsmen socket was too big.
