I couldn't get on board with people saying that Jennifer Lawrence was the greatest of her generation. I thought she was very hammy in most of her roles and her collaborations with David O'Russell actually did her a disservice, despite her winning an Oscar. Saoirse was born ready for this. She reminds me a lot of the natural talent of Meryl Streep. Streep went to drama school but they all said she didn't need it. It just provided a platform for her to be seen. She just immediately floored everybody with her innate talent and ability to play a scene with endless objectives or choices, and she made professionals rethink or properly understand a play they had seen and studied for decades due to her bold and thoughtful choices. Saoirse is like this. I truly believe she is the greatest of her generation and I'm kind of glad that she is flying below the radar. It means that we as an audience are less likely to get fatigued by her presence.

How do all these actors get it wrong and say she is an 'Irish' actress ? She was born in New York and so she is an American actress.Tat's like me being born in California , moves to Scotland , and calling me a Scottish actor.
Yes , I know she holds dual citizenship ( Ireland & American ) but still...
I believe she identifies as Irish.
Her parents were here as undocumented Irish immigrants when she was born in New York. They went back to Ireland when she was three, and she was raised there until sometime in her teens.
She is Irish.
