Awesome video, I love leather crafting tutorials like this. I watch a lot of Don Gonzales as well and yours are just as good. Thanks for inspiring me and giving me confidence that I can learn this stuff. I think you should for sure keep making videos like this.
This finished piece looks awesome. I have a question about your finishing, do you always use Tan-Kote or do you also use Resolene for some projects? I'm curious what the difference is and when to use one vs the other?
@@jayplays568 thanks soo much. I mostly use tan coat as my sealer. I have used resolene in the past and it works fine but i find the tan kote leave less of a chemicaly feel to the leather. I also use resolene to clean up panting accidents on my work
@@kboleather yes brother and it kills me. Been crazy around here with new job, new baby, and some life changes. Praying to get back to a normal schedule
Couple of questions man. I ALWAYS have issues with tan coat causing my paint to lift off, and when I’m rubbing off my antique paste it also lifts off the paint. I use angelus paints. Any tips? Looking forward to the next video brother.
If you are having paint getting wiped, a couple of things might be happening. 1st, be sure the paint is completely dry before applying any sealers or antique. 2nd, try watering the paint down a bit and apply multiple layers. By watering it down, the paint will seep into the leather instead of sit on top
I love watching your videos brother!! What would you attach something like that piece to? I'm pretty new into leather work and that seems to be my biggest hang up. I'd love to tool a design like you just did, but then all I've got is a piece of leather with a design tooled on it and not an actual finished item. Just curious. Keep up the good work!
Thanks soo much. Im probably going to frame this one because its really just a practice piece. But you could cut it out and make a patch with it or stitch on a bag. On an actual finished item it would be much more planned out on its location.
@@AttackLineLeather I'm in Canada and starting January 2024 the federal government will ban high VOC's. Have you noticed colour difference between Fiebings low VOC and pro oil dye?
