    Some interesting comments so far with some people under-estimating the importance of absorbing the landing. Just because *you* do not need to be mindful of landing 'with your suspension' and *do it naturally* , does not mean that *everyone else does.*
    I have coached many people who crash every jump, even when they got the kite steering perfect. When I've taught them to absorb their landings, they have landed almost everything.
    This video might not be the answer for you, but it is for many people.
    Cheers
    Mike

      I have lots of friends that can jump high but have weird body position, and keep their board sideways when they land. Not pointing down wind like you showed. They pretty much butt check every single landing. So for lots of people this will be a very helpful, even as a reminder for me.
      Look forward to your How to Grow an Epic Pornstache video!

    Funny, I ride motocross my whole life, using your body as extra suspension feels so normal and natural. You do need to be fit and strong enough to use it like that else injuries are around the corner.

    Nice video and stoked you read my comment about stance width. It baffled me for ages (across all other strapped board sports too eg snowboarding) till I learned how anatomy holds the true answer 😊 👌 There are so many opinions out there about stance width (or unhelpful 'do whatever feels good' vibes). Thankfully we can't argue with anatomy.

      Hi Mike, Position and balance on your board when landing is important for sure. I fly Foilkites and my routines at landing concerning kitesteering is most important to soft landings.
      I get my kite in a downloop before touchdown and „pull the bar“ just before impact while the kite is in powerzone flying straight down, that gives an extra yank downwind with a portion of lift. This portion of extra lift gives me buttersoft landings with good speed. Your sample landings when dropping and fail look like kite is parked at 12 until impact. That is definitely due to poor kitesteering

    Cheers Mike!
    I think there's one reaaalllly important thing, that is reaaally hard to define/teach/explain.
    All decent/high level kiters/landers understand(mostly subconsciously) how to orient their body based on the fulcrum of the harness/hook. Poor body position on landings often happens when the kiter tries to rotate/align/adjust by using their hands/bar as the fulcrum.
    Understanding the angles of force can help from the very first day of trainer kite, all the way to counteracting over rotation in boogie loops.
    Would love to see your breakdown of that aspect of body control/understanding.

    Great Vid and I think you're right that this is often overlooked. I often struggle land centered on top of the board because the bar is in the way to squat down. Also the kite is pulling towards the edge of the window instead of downwind. What are your thoughts there?

    @eduardobahmed1 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Hey mike. I'm getting more hight in my jumps(something between 3-5m) and struggling on landing, feels like i'm loosing the strength on the kite and getting a freefall close to landing, because i'm not doing heliloop to landing yet. Any tip for that? Also, how to get higher? Very good tips on your videos btw.

  • @hansvandertoorn6930

    What i miss in this vid his how hard you steer the kite in before you land the jump. I am almost every time afraid to steer it to hard resulting in a crash but ending in landing with almost no speed. I think its a mental thing.... ;-)

    Imo the biggest tip is to land with your shoulders and board facing the kite, so landing with the kite on the left you should land right foot forward and vice versa. Otherwise the twist in your body because your board points one way and your kite / shoulders the other way makes it very difficult to point the board downwind and keep balance. Adding downloops makes it even easier because the kite isn’t pulling as far to the side

    • @gethighwithmike
      @gethighwithmike  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Totally agreed. Will be sure to include this in the next how to on landing.

    • @gethighwithmike
      @gethighwithmike  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Mmmm honestly I think both components (kite and body) are important. I wanted to address this issue because every other tutorial on the subject of landing (to my knowledge) overlooks this crucial part

    • @Zarrell
      @Zarrell 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree, you can never out-cushion bad kite steering 🩼☠️
      (But of course body control matters once you have safe enough kite control 🤸🏽)

    • @carptackula7536
      @carptackula7536 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The take off is also important, because it influences the options for kite position. EG no pop, kite must rip you off water, and kiter will travel WITH it (or swing under it quickly) and come down harder and faster than nice load and pop with well timed elevator lofting kite action

  • @reapiet

    With a history of torn acl’s I sadly have to rely on flawless kite steering every time, low margin for errors 🥲 when coming in too hot I try to condition the habit of always kicking my board off when in doubt. I used to like tight bindings, but always ride them loose now, better safe than sorry.
