You're forgetting the OG Metroid, Metroid 2 and Super Metroid all being on the NSO as well. The only games we're missing are Samus Returns, MP2, MP3 and Other M. We don't count Federation Force lol.
I started with Super Metroid. I played 1 and 2 and tbh besides Samus Returns i did not think the first was too different from 3. So tbh if i recommend it to anyone i would tell them to start with Super Metroid, Fusion, then Dread and just read up on the story for 1 and 2.
Nah original metroid has its charm. I first played it though zero mission, once i got used to playing the original i play original metroid from time to time.
90% of the gameplay shown is taken from the idle demo that plays on the main menu, I’m 99% pretty sure the bomb jump to varia was also in the gameplay demo. That’s why I love this game so much it’s meant to be broken
This is my favorite game ever made, along side halo, resident evil, metal gear and Mario. This game entertained me for years as a child. The music is top tier.

I actually was hoping for Metroid Prime Echoes Remastered but considering that version was rumoured to be finished as a simple HD version and it isn't being released, increases the odds of that game getting a full Remaster.

Its been years... and I can still remember the location of all the items in ZM :') Super, Fusion, and Zero Mission were my bread and butter as a kid. Upon retrospect, I came to the realization Metroid shaped me in a couple ways to this date.
I have no idea how I ended up with this game back on the GBA. I've never heard of her till Super Smash Bros so I either saw in store and bought it or it was gifted to me. What's significant to me about this game is, this was one of the first games I ever beat outside Pokemon and GBA Kirby. Beat it multiple times, too. I'm so glad they finally put it out because this is the game to start with over the original if you're playing the games in order.
Someone kind stranger at a videogame store might have helped you. Its what happened to me. My dad bought me a GBA and 2 games for my birthday one year. Pokemon Ruby and Metroid ZM. I only wnated Pokemon and had no idea ehat Metroid was. But the guy at the store convinced my dad to pick it up along with Pokemon. I didn't play it at first for a few weeks, then gave it a try and was hooked ever since.
0:41 -- This version of the Brinstar Theme (referred to as Final Attack in Zero Mission's Soundtrack) is still one of the best renditions of it because of how triumphant it is, and it is especially fitting for the moment in the game you hear it, when Samus fully powers up with the Gravity Suit and then goes on a tear through Ridley's freshly-landed space pirate force, pushing them back out of the Chozo Temple they had been hunting Samus through.
I kinda wish they didn't show that part of the game in the trailer, it's a really cool surprise and it actually made me jump the first time I played the game and thought I was done.
Love how they did an individual trailer for this and ALttP even though they shadow dropped in the direct with the other games. Metroid is such an awesome franchise and I’m glad more people will experience these games. Looking at the cartridge next to me right now feeling nostalgic. Long live Metroid!
Zero Mission was the first Metroid game I ever played! I tried it out when it was ported to the Wii-U, and I fell in love with the series from there! Happy to see this port is finally here! (alongside MP4’s trailer after waiting for 7 years)
I had barely started getting into the Metroid series since the end of last year. I've been playing the games I can easily get my hands on. When playing Fusion, I had been wondering where the heck Zero Mission was. Even last night when sharing my hopes for Prime 4 I had hoped for at least another Prime remaster of 2 or 3, or even this on NSO. I just can't believe it. What a time to be a Metroid fan. Especially for a newcomer like me.
My first Metroid game. Used to play this as a kid on a Gameboy SP kiosk at a Walmart so many years ago. Went on to become my favorite Metroid game, along with Prime. I’m so happy I can finally play them on my Switch.
Glad to say I finally beat this game. Bought it on Wii U years ago and barely touched it. Hacked it onto my 3DS a couple years later, got to Mother Brain and gave up. But now I've finished it, and have beaten every mainline Metroid, if remakes are counted.

Connecting Your GBA with this game to your Gamecube unlocked a gallery and when you beat the Zero mission it unlocked a emulated port of the original metroid. Good times.
It's good that old games get added to Nintendo online like this so young people can play them for first time. Zero Mission is the perfect entry point to the Metroid franchise for anyone looking to get into it.
Zero Mission changed my life. I rushed to buy it in '04 after playing the demo at GameCrazy. Easily one of the best games ever made. My personal favorite of the 2D Metroid games. So much replayability value to boot. Had so much fun playing this over the years. The Switch Online collection keeps getting better and better.
It's crazy it's been nearly *20 Years* already since this released!! You first timers for this GBA game are gonna have a blast and understand why so many call it one of the best remakes in history in the same leagues as stuff like REmake and HG/SS.

I've loved this franchise ever since. I bought my first GBA in order to play this game -- another great decision. This is truly a remake done right! In my view, this addition alone makes the Expansion Pack worth it.
If you’ve never played a Metroid or a Metroid-style game, this is absolutely the one to start with. Easy to understand combat, guided exploration, and since it's a remake of Metroid 1, it's the first in the timeline. This is the game that got me into the series, emulating it on my Chromebook in high school. If you've got the Expansion Pack, this is a must-play for anyone.

well to be fair you have to bomb jump that spot to progress so I think Nintendo expects anyone playing to be able to do that.

This era is not as good as the golden age of Metroid (2002-2009), but it is really close.
Being an Metroid fan is easy. Most of there games never disappointed me ( aside from Other M ) and there so much fun.

I just put it on, and the Fusion ending gallery is unlocked right off the hop.
I never could get any of those endings back in the day.
The Metroid Manga is Canon, and is a direct prequel to this game, so that's why the art style is similar.
Have you seen the beta? The art direction was more similar to that of the NES sprites. Hopefully the ROM will get dumped someday.
