    Does Mirtazapine cause weight gain, this is my experience taking Mirtazapine and Venlafaxine and whether in my experience antidepressants cause weight gain.
    I had so many questions when I was offered antidepressants I had so many questions but I couldn't really find many real people talking about their experiences and all the reviews online were terrifying, I was worried about Mirtazapine weight gain and what side effects I might get for mental health medication so I hope this helps anyone out there considering medication for there mental health but worried about side effects or possible weight gain.
    Thanks for watching see you soon 👋

    This was helpful and encouraging, thank you. I too struggle with an ED and have gained 6kg on mirtazapine since May, which to me is tremendous. I have come close to stopping the mirt, but I have to keep reminding myself that I am stable and sleeping and even happy, and that those things are more important than being thin. Thank you again for sharing 🤎

    Same issue.
    I've been on Mirtazapine 15 for my anxiety since May this year and I did put on some weight(I have hypothyroid too) but the weight gain part didn't scare me until November. I tried to taper off Mirtazapine but my insomnia and anxiety returns. My doc said to continue taking it and I'm just confused between whether to take this med and live my normal life (I've been going to the gym since 3 months now and now I'll be more careful about what I eat) or leave this med and go back to Insomnia and anxiety.

      I think it just depends on how much of an impact the weight gain has on you compared to the positive impact the tablets have on you. I think if the weight starts to affect you more then might be worth speaking to your Dr but if the tablets help a lot with your mental health try to remember your mental health is so important x

    Mirtazipine caused mumchies similar to marijuana or low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia) for me if I stayed awake long enough after taking it. Same with quetiepine. Venlaflaxine caused a lower appetite but in my experience changed my metabolism/hormones and made me gain almost 2 stone in 6 months it was crazy. But it's such a shame, because it's been the only one that has worked for me agter trying to many.

    It’s commonly used as a sleep aid, works like a dream for me. So take at night! I notice when I get off of it- within a week I lose 8lbs because of all the water retention. And don’t be surprised by excessive bawl movements for 5 days when you get off it. Now off of it I instantly noticed the the impulsive cravings went away.

    I’m on mirtazapine it’s good for sleep but I’ve put on 40kg since I started taking it. Now I’m so heavy I struggle to exercise, I’m always tired and I’m really struggling in general. I’m so unfit I’m scared for my heart health. I’m scared to stop but will talk to doctor but when I get off this stuff I’m hoping I can get rid of the weight.

    Hello I Just srtated this meds 3 days ago. is it normal to feel soooo tired?
    I take de Mirtazapine at night, get good but excesive sleep, and feel sleepy all day.

    • @Mental_health_an_Molly
      @Mental_health_an_Molly  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes 100% when you first start taking them even if taken at night correctly it's normal to feel tried at first while your body gets used to it, my partner once took one at night mistaking it for an antihistamine and he was zonked all the next day but I don't feel that any more because my body has built up tolerance to the sedative side. It helps me get to sleep but doesn't make me feel sleepy the next day anymore it just takes some time. Hope this helps x

      @@Mental_health_an_Molly cheers! I've been prescribed them today but my Doctor scared me a bit by saying I need to start them on Monday when he's back in work so I can call him once I start taking them. That sent my anxiety up! So I'm bricking it now to take them. 🙈. Worried they'll send me west. He's only prescribed me 7 days as well which has got me questioning tolerability concerns! Argh

    • @Mental_health_an_Molly
      @Mental_health_an_Molly  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Don't worry too much I was only on 7 day prescriptions for a while, part of it is just because like a lot of antidepressants some people can struggle with dark thoughts for the first few days so the Dr likes to just keep a close eye when you start and also like any medication side effects need to be watched but honestly I've been in the same place as you the worst thing you can do is google I can tell you that from experience 😂 also take them of a night not on the day as they can make you a little sleepy but for me that's a bonus.

      @@Mental_health_an_Molly ah, thanks for this advice. Appreciate it. I'll stick to starting them on Monday as preferred by the Doc. Did you experience any agitation or increased anxiety on them at 15mg? I know everyone's experiences are different but I'm just curious to know. Anxiety has been a big factor in my life at the moment but because it's been so severe I've been getting down feeling like there's no escape from it. Hence why Mitrazipine has been suggested to me 🙂
