    Ive been on pristiq for about 8 months now and this is my 8th antidepressant medication. this is the best one I have ever had. Ive struggled with a lot of various side effects and this one has the lowest rate of them that I have experienced. Finding the right medication is a long process but once you get there it changes ur life.

      @@miranda725 Update? I just started Pristiq. I was on a high dose of Wellbutrin and it felt like a miracle drug for like 2 weeks then it just quit working. Then my psych added abilify and it did nothing. Now I'm on Prestiq but it's only day 3. Side effects are light as of now. Hoping to feel better in 2-4 weeks. I'm on 5 different meds now

    I really recommend trying a genesight test that gives you a breakdown of different SSRIs and SNRIs and how your body reacts to them. It is not overly expensive. definitely very helpful to me.

I’m stepping down right now from Zoloft and starting out on the lower dosage of Pristiq and will adjust every 2 weeks until I’m off the Zoloft and fully on the Pristiq. After everything that I have been on…..I’m crossing my fingers. Thank you for sharing. @@sharonarmstrong4578 Hi! Thank you checking in on me. Very sweet! I have been on Zoloft for 10 yrs. I have had depression (persistent and melancholic depression) for 30yrs. Usually it is short term but the last 10 have been bad enough I sought help. Racing thoughts, sleep issues, no energy, not enjoying life, not eating, anxiety…completely overwhelming when all together 😒 However since starting my step down of the Zoloft (was at 200mg) I’m down to 100mg and 50mg of pristiq. Getting some much needed energy (doc was wanting to put me on a stimulant..no thank you☺️). Definitely smiling a bit more. Only side effects that I have had are eating a ton (but that could be just that I eating normal. I tend to go days without eating) and really vivid dreams. The kind where you feel like your still dreaming and you feel drugged. It might just be my body adjusting. How is it going for you my dear? It is nice to have someone who understands these meds❤️

      @@thewidow5944 Thank you for replying and I am glad that your feeling slightly better. I have been on and off quite a few different ones over the past 30 years for depression and anxiety. I was taking Pristiq for some time and doing rather good on it. Then last year I had some personal issues which I let get out of hand. I thought I was handling them ok but by Christmas I got worse. So Dr decided to change me to sertraline. So I cross tapered the two for about 4-5 weeks until I just stopped taking Pristiq. I have been on Sertraline all up about 8 weeks, and even though I am starting to feel a little better, mentally, physically I am drained. I am still getting morning anxiety and tremors., no motivation, no appetite. and Just feeling flat all the time. In hindsight I should have upped my Pristiq dosage to 150 to see how that went first before changing. Hard lesson to learn, I know. So this is why I am contemplating moving back to Pristiq. It is good to talk to others in the same situation. We could keep in touch. Do you have a facebook account? If you do you could look up my name and send me a fr request. Thank you for sharing your experience Bri. I also struggle with major depression and generalized anxiety AND I am on day two of Pristiq. I've hopscotched from med to med this past month- 22 years of Effexor, 3 weeks of Paxil, 1 week of Prozac and started Pristiq 24 hours ago. Not the most traditional path but I am hoping to remain on Pristiq long enough to gauge its effectiveness. My brain probably hates me right now because I am putting it through the ringer with my impatience and medication switching. I used a genetic test my sister took for psych meds as a guide and out of the 20 or so medications Prestiq was one of 3 that are "take as prescribed". The rest were take with caution or extreme caution.

    I've had bad luck on the whole slew of anti-depressants, each having their own unique unacceptable side-effect. Some years after that Prestiq was suggested as having low side effects. It has made the depressive episodes less frequent and less severe, and easier to handle. My wife tells me I don't tilt into a rage so often. I increased my dose from 25 to 50 mg when severe depression crept back in. But I miss the passion I use to have for books, TV, family and other pursuits. My libido has been much decreased. But without the despair I once felt I able to accomplish more. A net gain. I'm better, but not where I would like to be. Good luck to you.

    I feel that if WE, US, THOSE that are having these issues had each other to talk to, we could do better. I know that people in our circle don't listen and if WE could just talk and let the pain of whatever out, it would help with the meds. 45 mins in a psychologist/psychiatrist ofc is like a minute of trying to get ur feelings out. Not to mention the cost for them to ass us, "and how does that make you feel"? And it is time to wrap it up cause we are coming up on that time slot. I have dep/anx/insomnia just as u stated, and for some reason, people I know and don't know tend to want to tell their problems. Why? Because I am a good listener. I wish I could be heard as well. To this, I concluded that I am a sounding/dumping board for others. I listen, I hear and I can respond if asked. Otherwise, when I say anything, even answering their questions, THEY don't hear me and will talk while I am talking. Surely, I am not the only one who has this mental issue AND experienced the invisible self-presence amongst an individual, a few or a crowd. I applaud u for being bold enough to make this TH-cam video. I'm here for u and anyone else. Just tell me. I was on prestiq for a year but do to the tremors and nervousness it caused i only could take a quarter piece of 25 mgs and it did cause weight gain after I got use to it. But, it quit helping and going up made me have tremors again so I quit slowly like every other day then every 3 days ect how are you doing on it now?

       @Linda Carol Hi! For now, after 15 days of pristiq, i am feeling really better, more calm, stable, it have been easier to sleep. About colaterals, limbs tingling and diziness sometimes, reaching orgasm is a little bit difficult (but so it was with lexapro), the three first days i felt more depressed.

    I see my doctor for a physical on September 2 and I am looking to switch antidepressants and tapered off Lexapro and am considering Pristiq. I also take Buspar 7.5 mgs 2x daily. Thanks for your vulnerabiiity and insight. Lexapro helped somewhat to control my anger and ruminating thoughts. But it made.me tired and sort of emotionless.

Whenever you have anxiety or start having thoughts, stop and accept them, pretend as if it were a rollercoaster that you are just now , and Azept say in your mind ok I’m afraid, I feel sad, now what? Hi Bri,
    Just wanted to let you know that I struggle mightily with depression, Generalized Anxiety, Derealization and Depersonalization. It's been quite the journey. Joseph Campbell would call it The Heroes Journey but when there's PTSD with MDD, or in my case MDD that's morphed into Bipolar 2, I don't think that anyone feels particularly "heroic. " And besides, I'm not Joseph Campbell. Anyway, all fun aside, none of this stuff is, in essence is anything to deal with but as seriously. Look, if I start going into depth about all the antidepressants, anxiolytics, mood stabilizers, and so on and so forth . . , well then, I would literally be writing a book here. Pristiq is a powerful, and (in my case) very effective, antidepressant that can definitely send you hurling overall over some potentially very confusing side effects. Pristiq is powerful, yet subtle. And as I'm someone who has been struggling with depression for almost my entire life, I wouldn't want to go off it unless it therapy value was totally nullified by contraindications. So how has it worked out for you? I'm rambling here, and with bad grammar to boot, so it's likely time for me to stop writing. You said that finding others who had suffered from derealization and depersonalization was difficult to do. Well, not so with me. I think I know what you mean, though. So if you've got any questions I'm all ears.

    OMG i’ve had untreated depersonalization derealization since 2nd grade, now i have it with depression, OCD, intrusive thoughts and anxiety. A psychiatrist prescribed me 50 mg pristiq but i haven’t taken it yet, i’ve been doing my research about the drug and the side effects sound worse than having 5 mental illnesses at once and the withdrawal is what’s scaring me the most, i have an addictive personality so even if it’s not addicting i might just have a hard time letting go of it, idk what to do

    • @anxiouslybri4350

      Hi! I’m so glad you commented. I know how scary this can be. Starting this medicine was super intimidating to me. I frantically thought about every possible side effect and every negative outcome that could possibly happen. I googled and searched for answers on how it would make me feel. What I did to overcome this is I made sure people I cared about were there to check on me IN CASE something went wrong, I collected a group of positive antidepressant TH-cam videos on a playlist, and I reminded myself that if I can make it through the anxiety, intrusive thoughts, negative self talk, and crippling depression everyday, I can certainly make it through some side effects of a medication that may give me my life back.
      When I started taking the medicine, instead of googling reviews of Pristiq when I got the urge, I would watch the positive videos of people saying their lives changed for the better because of medicine and I rewatched those videos till I remembered the goal I was working towards. Then I would distract myself with drawing, or music, or a show so I didn’t google the side effects.
      I know it’s so hard to start, but you are never alone. I plan on continuing my updates here, and I’m here for questions anytime you have one. We deserve a better more peaceful existence, and this medicine could be a very useful tool to get us there. I hope you’ll come back and update me if/when you start the medicine.
      Also, I am very sensitive to medicine, I’ve had poor reactions to three medicines before this (none in the same medicine family as Pristiq), and Pristiq has honestly been fairly easy for me to adjust to. The side effects were manageable and went away within a week or two.

  • @g1mmedatdome284
    @g1mmedatdome284 ปีที่แล้ว

    I was diagnosed with anxiety and PTSD, and they keep trying to put me on SSRIs, MAOI-I, and SMRIs, and experience in every one, terrible side effects with almost no benefit. I just got duped into picking up Pristiq, after telling my DR I refuse to take lexapro, prozac, celexa, busperone etc. THey do not help, only hurt, and some of the most traumatic experiences TENFOLD worse than the EXTREME TRAUMA they are saying is causing PTSD, were caused by these drugs. These types of drugs gave me hypersexual behavior (dating multiple women at the same time), hyposexual behavior, sucidial thoughts worse than any other thing I could possibly imagine. The doctors don't listen to your other symtoms, and all of these drugs involve worsening other symptoms which I have. I have gotten to the point where I just am starting to hate doctors, and their "one size fits all" approach to any scenario.
