So why did Don not object to only 1 quote for the water plant were Russ the Suss did the work himself, and screwed everything? There should always be three quotes before any decision. But if you can’t get the quotes in a timely manner or because nobody wants to go there, then decisions need to be made.
How often does Madam Mayor contact the state to get a ruling on the 1 year term and ask the Governor to remove Russ from Town Council, and could she also ask that Don be removed as well?
Jeremy there's a small town southwest of St Augustine that unincorporated 5 or 6 years ago and they have really come out of the woods. They've got new business com ing in they renovated the town library which was an old school and on main street they've renovated and added new buildings. Its Hastings and used to be known as the potato capital of the U.S. they are a farming community and unincorporting was the best thing they could have done. I've got friends who live there and the town hasn't looked this good in years. I do hope otter creek unincorporates and makes a great commuhbiry to live in. Keep up the food work. The honest hard working people there deserve a descent and clean place to live free of the corruption that plagues so many small towns in Florida. And I'm sure in many places in our country. I’ll tell you why Mr. Fuller (or however it’s spelled) sat on the council and didn’t say anything: He got payed $50/hr to sit on his ass and do absolutely nothing. He may be intelligent but, from an outside perspective, he looks like he’s doing Russel’s bidding.
Need to delegate some of these actions to the council members to follow through on that are doing the most complaining. Is the town paying them just to complain?
Just a thought… until the a decision to unincorporate or not is made, they should put all spending on hold except for buying a new computer and making sure water plant is working.
I've built IT systems for small towns before with the same software OC likely uses. $3000 for the project and $87/month is very cheap for what they need to have in place. I would recommend for now they get a second drive, copy the data to it, and store in in a safety deposit box at the bank. Then bring it back weekly to update it. Even if they approve the quote, it could still be a month or more before the server is built.

I have roughly 90gb of music . Thats about 25,000 files. I never rely on one hard drive . I have 3 drives . 2 function as backups to the main.. Always keep more thrn 1 backup . Just my theory😊
I agree totally. 2x 2Tb external hdds, and 1x 1Tb. and then usb sticks and other computers - just in case. my back ups have back ups linked to back ups and external storage. apparently, my computer skillz are in hot demand right now - not complaining, gives me something to do, but there's also the fact that a lot of people don't understand that backing up stuff saves a lot of hassle and heartaches. having just undergone a pretty big windoze update, I used one of my other devices while it was doing that - because I was in the middle of watching something on yt when it decided to restart to install 🤣 I've got it bad. but I caught up with my video from where it left off.

Don’t they call it a town hall meeting when the public comes to discuss things? (and I don’t mean the new definition where politicians gladhand and bloviate). Apparently now the traditional town halls are what corporations hold for employee participation and input, but that is what a traditional town hall meeting was, to include the townspeople in a discussion and work things out.

Our old house in city is taxed as storage as well as the farm house in the country. My brother pays a lot of tax on all he owns. Not sure if this holds true still but if you have real hardwood floors , that raised the value and tax rate on a home. I don’t read the tax bills as they come in my brothers name but tax on this house was quite a bit for a late 1950’s house with about 2300-2500 sq feet

As a person who works IT, the council may need to put together a Performance Work Statement for replacing the computers and storage. I deal with this all the time. You describe the outcomes, you do not specify a manufacturer. BTW, computers purchased today are already outdated as every thing changes daily with what computers can do.
It's interesting how the instant she mentions pulling old computers and retrieving data, he jerks his head up and glances at don in worry/fear . Because he maybe thought once computers break. all data is lost but even if hardware gets damaged, it doesn't mean data is lost and can't be retrieved. Otherwise it would have been in that pile of disposables from town hall. In a brain twist, the meeting is reminding me of a friend who was so obnoxious when he drank he became worse for everyone. At that moment we had an epiphanyand that was instead of creating an argument by telling him to quit drinking or leave. We gave him double and triple shots during a drinking game (others in room were becoming exhausted as we had to "babysit". ) it was agreed upon. But.... it worked and he was asleep in a short time. Don & russ tried discouraging the people with the constant objections. They ( opinion) realized their tactics weren't working for them. Now they are engaging and "collecting " info for the purpose of overstepping the chain of command. Opens the door for "interference ". For the purpose of sabotaging the councils hard work and budget planning. . Or am I overthinking this mess???
Personally, I don't think that 2 people who--by their own admissions--"Don't do emails" and can't even open attachments should be in charge of deciding what needs to be done, or when, about computer systems that the town needs to get everything done. Right now, electronically, everything in the town is in one place...basically, all their eggs are in one basket. I would ask Don and Russell if their parents ever taught them NOT to put all their eggs in one basket...and if so, WHY that's an important lesson to learn and why it always applies, regardless of when you say it. It's because if you put all your eggs in one basket, especially electronically, you're asking for a MAJOR disaster to happen. And in that case, the information you need to run the town would literally DISAPPEAR FOREVER, and would be unrecoverable. So you know what, Don and Russ? You DON'T HAVE TIME to eff around with other quotes, especially when you only have one company AVAILABLE anywhere near you. Not everything has a ton of available options. And as Jeremy pointed out--rightly so--you two already did multiple things less than a year ago with less than 3 quotes, or with only ONE. So if less than 3 or only 1 was good enough for you two ignoramuses for YEARS, then it should be good enough for the current administration too.

Apparently now the traditional town halls are what corporations hold for employee participation and input, but that is what a traditional town hall meeting was, to include the townspeople in a discussion and work things out.

I love seeing the Mayor and Vice Mayor stand up to Russ & Don! Talk about property tax.. the house I’m in has the highest tax being in the city . Our old house in city is taxed as storage as well as the farm house in the country. My brother pays a lot of tax on all he owns. Not sure if this holds true still but if you have real hardwood floors , that raised the value and tax rate on a home. I don’t read the tax bills as they come in my brothers name but tax on this house was quite a bit for a late 1950’s house with about 2300-2500 sq feet

As a person who works IT, the council may need to put together a Performance Work Statement for replacing the computers and storage. I deal with this all the time. You describe the outcomes, you do not specify a manufacturer. BTW, computers purchased today are already outdated as every thing changes daily with what computers can do.

It's interesting how the instant she mentions pulling old computers and retrieving data, he jerks his head up and glances at don in worry/fear . Because he maybe thought once computers break. all data is lost but even if hardware gets damaged, it doesn't mean data is lost and can't be retrieved. Otherwise it would have been in that pile of disposables from town hall.
In a brain twist, the meeting is reminding me of a friend who was so obnoxious when he drank he became worse for everyone. At that moment we had an epiphanyand that was instead of creating an argument by telling him to quit drinking or leave. We gave him double and triple shots during a drinking game (others in room were becoming exhausted as we had to "babysit". ) it was agreed upon. But.... it worked and he was asleep in a short time. Don & russ tried discouraging the people with the constant objections. They ( opinion) realized their tactics weren't working for them. Now they are engaging and "collecting " info for the purpose of overstepping the chain of command. Opens the door for "interference ". For the purpose of sabotaging the councils hard work and budget planning. . Or am I overthinking this mess???

Personally, I don't think that 2 people who--by their own admissions--"Don't do emails" and can't even open attachments should be in charge of deciding what needs to be done, or when, about computer systems that the town needs to get everything done.
Right now, electronically, everything in the town is in one place...basically, all their eggs are in one basket. I would ask Don and Russell if their parents ever taught them NOT to put all their eggs in one basket...and if so, WHY that's an important lesson to learn and why it always applies, regardless of when you say it.
It's because if you put all your eggs in one basket, especially electronically, you're asking for a MAJOR disaster to happen. And in that case, the information you need to run the town would literally DISAPPEAR FOREVER, and would be unrecoverable.
So you know what, Don and Russ? You DON'T HAVE TIME to eff around with other quotes, especially when you only have one company AVAILABLE anywhere near you. Not everything has a ton of available options. And as Jeremy pointed out--rightly so--you two already did multiple things less than a year ago with less than 3 quotes, or with only ONE. So if less than 3 or only 1 was good enough for you two ignoramuses for YEARS, then it should be good enough for the current administration too.

Well Jeremy my name is Don ,but I enjoy all the videos seen about Odder Creek it's so entertaining and as I remember Florida this is the way it was in Florida while growing up.
