I do the exact same thing when Carson is falling asleep! He drives me nuts all day some days but then he’s falling asleep at night and I look at his little face and could not be more grateful and in love!

I agree 100% with your "rant". I remember being a teenager going thru things and crying in my bedroom literally upstairs from my parents watching tv downstairs without a clue in the world and I tell my husband all the time that I can't even imagine how it'll be when our kids are older.

  • @BethHart91
    @BethHart91 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

Agreed with all of this! I literally started crying when you said the whole not getting likes and crying in the bathroom etc part. I don't want my daughter influenced by all of this negative stuff on the internet. How do we keep them safe when there are so many preditors out there! It's terrifying. I 100% agree with every word. IT NEEDS to be talked about. Thank you ❤️

My oldest is 11 and she does have a phone. However we have parental controls on her phone and she has zero access to any social media! She doesn't need that at her age. She has it for communication between our house and her other parents and games. We get notifications on our phones from hers. She is monitored.

I am a first time mom and completely understand your anxiety throughout the day. I am grateful that my husband or else I would have gone crazy by now. But these issues need to be talked about, these are the conversations that should go viral for our next generation to listen and think about. 😊 love you videos and as always Jackson and Riley are adorable 😍

Kayla I am soo glad you have brought to light the damage and threat that social media poses to ourselves and our children. Young girls idolize people on Instagram and feel horrible about themselves because they "can't compete". I could write a novel here. I just totally appreciate your honesty. The amount of upvotes, likes and comments do not determine your self worth.

Kayla thank you so much for being real and not being scared to talk about that real parts of mom hood and the rollercoaster of emotions ! As moms its so hard not to feel guilty and awful and anxious, and to hear that I'm not the only one seriously, gives me so much relief. ❤ I could cry .lol sometimes its so nice to just know I'm not the only one feeling like this . love you and think your doing amazing! Keep on doing you xoxox

I feel you girl. That’s why my daughter will be getting a prepaid flip phone when the times comes. When she matures and understands the responsibility that comes with social media we’ll look into a smart phone✌🏻

Good idea, but flip phones are almost outdated. But Kayla is definitely right about all that. You can't let other people on social media control who you are and make you think you have to be a certain way.

I have to say that it’s so nice to watch your videos and feel just how real your are- I just had my baby girl on August 21, 2020 and I relate so much to everything you talk about. I have always been an extremely anxious person and that has multiplied by a million since having her. I worry so much for what her future holds- I guess all we can do is pray. Thank you so much for always being you and being this sort of content to us, I have followed you since finding out I was pregnant and in some ways you helped me make it through ♥️

I have 4 children and 3 of them happen to be girls so I’m constantly thinking about things like these. All we can do is pray and pray and pray and instill good things in our kids and their hearts! Love you so much K! Your family is adorable! Mimi is a beautiful lady and so are you!

I agree with EVERYTHING you said in this video from the roller coaster of being frustrated and crying for a break and breath to the next minute crying teats of joy because you love your child and they're perfect...and being terrified for my daughters future. They might not like or understand why we wont let them have phones at 10 and be on social.media like other kids they go to school with but when they grow up they will thank us! This world is terrifying and disgusting. Our job is to protect our babies even if they go thru a period of hating us and being "mean". Keeping my baby safe is worth that. One day they will get it.

You talking about Jackson how you just look at how perfect he is when they’re so calm is me. My baby drives me crazy all day but when I’m putting her to bed I tell myself how do I get so frustrated and I feel so bad but I love motherhood.

  • @aprilsummers9930

I feel you on the emotional rollercoaster. I am a single mom to a 20 year old in college and a 6 month old. I miss the 20 year old when he’s away at school. Then he comes home and I feel like he’s more work than the 6 month old some days 😂 But I have mom guilt if I don’t spoil him a little when he’s home. I don’t want him feeling like I “replaced” him by having the baby. But then so many days I just wish I could get 5 minutes to myself but I don’t have anyone to hand the baby off to. Then he goes to bed and I’m tempted to pick him up and cuddle him because I am so overwhelmed by my love for him. Being a mom is hard but so worth it. You are doing an amazing job! I love watching your videos!

Kayla, you worry about your children. Of course you worry. But in every age that children are born, there is something out there that is threatening. All you need to do is provide the best upbrining you can, which I can see you are already doing. Breath in and breath out please try not to worry so much. You're doing the right thing.

I make a similar coffee, but use Califia coconut cream- the brownish pint box- it's a think coconut cream. I put brewed coffee, cinnamon, stevia, the cream in the blonder and it makes it really frothy. I then sometimes add whipped cream to the cup as well.

I can't agree with you more about the current issues in society. Having 2 little girls myself, I basically live everyday with great concern and anxiety thinking about their future 😖 Us as women and mamas need to stick together, support one another and be good role models for them. Thanks for bringing up these concerns because it reassured me that I'm not the only one having these concerns

Well said Kayla, our kids are growing up too fast and the influence on social media can be a detriment to their growth if we the adult fail to have the honest conversations with them. It is us the adult who makes or breaks them little ones. Hope we do right by them and let them enjoy their one childhood.

I totally agree about all the social media concerns especially for young girls! I have a 7 month old baby girl and I’m already thinking about what I’m going to do 😥 One thing my husband and I talk about a lot is making sure she is active and engaged (sports/music/community activities/etc) so she can naturally build her self esteem and not spend all her time wanting to be on a device. Also, probably no social media until high school and definitely time limits on electronic devices like phones.

    💯 agree!
I don't have a daughter in today's time, but just talking to my mom and how I grew up, comparison among girls has always been damaging. IMO, it is worse now because you can't just leave the negativity at a person's house, school, the store, etc. It is easily accessible *everywhere.*
My concern with my son is how it is expected for him to be "manly" and how he may feel very left out because of the amount of things I don't want him subjected to.😕
I'll also be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers❤ You're doing a great job!

I totally feel the same way! I'm a new mom, 23, and I think social media is soooo scary for young kids to be on nowadays! Also just in general it's very misleading and teaching the wrong values to young kids, like to be perfect all the time with makeup/hair, to have a ton of material things, and name brand clothes , to even act or talk a certain way to be seen or important, when it's all just for show! Teaching my daughter none of that actually matters is going to be a daily thing for me, because I want her to know to value herself and not compare herself or her life to pictures or posts on social media. It's crazy because I feel like you never had to worry about any of this back then when social media was barely relevant, but now it's almost a given that a person/child has an instagram or facebook or tik tok or something...

Really thank you for talking about this, I've seen so many people on internet saying that parents shouldn't look through kids phone or know what their kids are doing because they need their privacy.....but privacy has its end, when you get groomed and you talk with men or women that are 20 or 30 years older than you then these kids should really not have any privacy. Plus at the end of the day, you have birth to that child and only you know the feeling as a mother of protecting your child at all cost, you washed them, changed them and you will keep on doing this even when they are older. My mom did the same, hell even nowadays she helped me change and bathe after I gave birth to my son or when I had any surgery, she was there to clean me and take me to the toilet. I said I'll do the same, I need to know everything that my child does and who he talks with. I won't tell him of course that I'm "spying" on him, but if I see he's talking with someone dangerous, he is about to put someone else in danger or himself then I need to know and to intervene and stop him.
Also the movie you mentioned is indeed disgusting, I haven't watched it but I heard so many people talk about it. From what I've read there are many people that want to make pedophiles something normal, look in UK, they teach this to 7 year olds....

I totally get what you mean! My son's always headbutting me, throwing things at me ( not on purpose of course) It's like a constant emotional roller coaster every day lol ... Happy, stressed, sad, excited..never understood other mothers until I had my own baby
And I also find myself so stressed at times, sometimes even sad thinking that our kids won't be growing up with the same things we grew up with. Hate to be a debbie downer, but things are just getting worse :( . But, at the end of the day I always pray and trust God. Always need to remind ourselves not to worry, leave all these worries to God. It's not always easy but that's the only way

I completely 100% agree with you on that whole topic. My husband and I are expecting our first child in December and we are having a girl, and I am terrified about raising a daughter in this world. I don't ever want her to feel like she's not beautiful enough if she's not a size 0, or all the other stupid, ridiculous things that social media tries to portray how women are "supposed to be or look." It is really a terrifying thought to me.

I don’t have kids yet but I 100% agree with you. I was a child that was monitored until I was about 12. Then I got a phone and they weren’t monitoring as much and I know first hand the type of things kids get into. I did a bunch of ish that should have gotten my butt whooped! But they weren’t in my business about the “right” things. I definitely will be that crazy mom in all of their business, teaching them to love themselves, and enjoy being a kid! It’s our jobs as adults to build these kids up so they know likes and other people’s approval doesn’t define them. I never comment but I had to co-sign on that topic lol! Loved the vlog!

I’m pretty sure there’s a way to block some Social media apps? Either in the tablet settings or in a app. Idk I’m not sure. I haven’t looked into it yet. My son is only one haha but I do plan on blocking some apps whenever he gets there..I’m sure there’s a way! Lol look into it 👍
And yes being a mama is Exhausting but amazing! Hang in there you’re a great mom 😊

I think my biggest challenge is going to be modelling self confidence to my baby girl. Because I know how I feel about myself is going to directly impact her self image.

I’m so glad you talked about our kids future! I worry everyday about it- like how our world would be, what new dangers will be out there, and I’m totally on the same page with you! I have a 2 year old son and I’m 15 weeks pregnant and their future is so important to me that it makes me scared that they would grow up and feel that way. 😢 no Social media for my kids till they’re super old! 😂

You’re not alone. My 5 month old has been testing me lately, and just entered a leap.... I feel you. I feel like nothing makes her happy except me holding her. The baby carrier doesn’t make her happy, just me. TJ ten she falls asleep and I miss her and will watch her sleep and want to kiss her all over and hug her and apologize for feeling that way when she’s just a little baby and trying her best too. Ugh. Motherhood.

oof either these things are common phases or j and my baby are soul brothers 😂 he also reverse headbutts me all the time, I've started holding him further away from me even though I'd rather have my nose on his head. also got his second tooth! I mean I can feel it now, it will be visible in a couple of days. also very clingy recently, but I try to at least have him on the floor next to me and not on the hip 24/7 because oof.
