This moment in the anime was so tense and conflicting for Deku and Mirio (mostly Deku in the moment) because strategically it made sense to let Eri go at the time but Morally Deku was torn up inside because of his mentality to save anyone who is in trouble no matter the risk which Eri clearly was and to him he wasn’t just letting her go for a plan to work out, to him he was abandoning her.
