Big Mack Attack... and, No Fries to be Found...

- "Scoping out" an off-road recovery to see if the Tator is up to the task. Is it the proper tool for the job? A Mack dump truck loaded with gravel and weighing approximately 50,000 pounds (22,680 Kgs) was attempting to reach a construction site when it sank on the low side towards a pond and got stuck in "spongy" ground. The truck was leaning and there was no good access to reach it. Did I bring the wrong truck or can I figure out a way to help the customer using what I have "on-hand"? That being a 2015 Peterbilt 389X with a Miller Industries, Century 1150R rotator towing and recovery unit, our unit #11.
Please SLOW DOWN & MOVE OVER!!! Thanks for watching and God bless!!!

Mr. Pratt,
I truly appreciate your integrity and honesty with the clients.
8:17 perfect example of "Work smarter not harder!"
I imagine having that skid steer to pull the line for you was some very welcome news!
You can always count on service with a smile and even a few laughs with Ron! :)
Hey Ron Pratt, would love to see a video of your after a tow job where you respooll the winch and reorganize your truck. That’s all part of every job too! That’s really the meat and taters of the tow life that nobody ever sees!🤠👍
From the look when Ron opened the chain locker the reorganizing is only done when he is doing a big cleaning of the lockers on the rotator. Ron tends to put the equipment back in place when he is done with the job unless there is another call or a big cleaning when he gets back to the shop.
The re-spooling would be interesting, the time he did it on the drag wasn't a clear picture of everything involved.
Totally agree
My OCD Kicks in overdrive when i see the racks and stuff I just want to head over and help him straighten it out. I was like that in my own OTR trucks sleeper kept clean and organized along with my jockey box and dash board was kept clear. I just found out over time a clean truck keeps them from looking at you to hard unlike that guy who has a ton of crap on his dash paper, trash, 20 log book.
Indeed.
@@dons8122 Look like a professional, and the world will treat you like one.
Love your "can do "attitude. Too many times I been greeted by a guy who takes a quick look and walkes off tutting. I can now swear in French, German, Italian and spanish.
The joys of being a coach driver in Europe.
LOL the mulit-lingual swearing! That goes both ways. This customer and the dump driver were both smart enough to 1.) NOT try to dump the load at that angle 2.) stop before they made a minor problem into a disaster and 3.) defer to Ron's expertise, unlike some who think they know his job better than he does.
Always enjoy watching your videos Ron
Right on time, i get to eat my lunch watching Mr Ron.
Aww I can imagine you really had a great lunch 🥗
How are you doing
You are one of the few men Ron who has the ability to think on the matter at hand. Big Mack was out before you would have gotten back with the Western Star. And everybody was happy. Of course Tater just took it in stride as usual. Thanks Ron.
I just love watching you with such a great attitude on things, and you don't stress yourself because you are always thinking ahead. God bless you and this old 75 yr. old woman still loves the way you work at things. My first husband taught me how to work on my own cars and he said necessity is the mother of invention. He taught me to think ahead and how to use my noggin for something other than a hat rack. I did all the work on my own vehicles until I got to where I wasn't able, brakes transmissions, clutch disc, pressure plates, anything, it didn't matter. I wasn't afraid to tackle things and solve my own problems. I would still thank him to this day if he were still living. Most women today hardly know how to put gas in the car, much less how to change a tire or anything else. Stay safe and God bless.
You’re a good man Ron. I watch your videos frequently and it seems you always try to make the best out of a bad situation for your customers. Putting them at ease, I believe, is almost as important as getting them out of their trouble. Good work and thanks for all you do out there on the road.
At 4:38, I could literally hear your thought process, as you looked back and forth between the stuck truck and the roadway, assessing the angles, cable lengths, etc.
Yes it looked a lot better from the road.
Another job well done! I love these titles! They are hilarious
Indeed
Yep
Coming soon to Midwest Truck will be a mini skidsteer for the long cable pulls, plus carry chain and rigging tackle to the long distance recoveries.
I think he could hang a quad runner from the boom and just let it sway as he drives down the road.
@@markadams8857 or like the hook-up one sees on the huge motorhomes pulling small sedans.... :-) at the job-site. unload the skid-steer and ready to roll. :-)
Ron could use the company ranger to pull the cable. Good job at attempting to recover the truck.
I can almost picture a lawnmower-sized tracked remote dragging cables across fields and through brush. Am I the only one? 😉
Something similar to this: www.autoguideequipment.co.uk/products/hinowa-tracked-winch/
I'm not a fan of McD's but this Big Mack is a different story. Well done, Ron. :-)
Different is always good / Exactly, I quit eating McD 30 yrs ago at one time i enjoyed the big mac, My stomach says H no to the food these days
⬆️ you should see how Mack Ribs are made. 😱
BTW, spelling has been changed to be clear from copywrite infringement.
The only thing I eat there is the McChicken sandwich and some fries also like the sweet tea
@@stevenr8606 I could, or I could just eat it.
I'll be willing to be that Ron was born around November. His "I'll figure out any job"...and making all jobs look simple after others walk away is surely a sign of November's baby!
Hi Ron, really pleased to see you quoting KG's it is so much easier for your European fans to understand the weight issue that you are dealing with.
Thanks for the entertainment. Love watching you. It's great to have a man that believe in God to watch!!
You and your operation are in my prayers. Again thank you sir.
It's not that you are sometimes short Ron....you just have "Altitude Concerns".😁😁 Another great save and thinking on the fly.
Lmao 😂
How are you doing hun
🤣🤣
Nice easy pull for the Tator to get the morning started and using the skid steer to help pull the cable makes the job easier, Ron hope you your family and the Midwest crew have a good and safe weekend and with the weather heating up stay cool
I think these gents were happy to be fry-less, rather than fried.. Nice work, Ron!!! Glad nothing or nobody was hurt, just egos and feelings. Have a wonderful weekend!!!
That looked like more than 250 feet to me, but whatever, you and that rig continue to amaze me. I love watching you work your magic. Thanks for posting!
Cool! Man the places i have put my tri-axle would scare the crap out most people. The company i drove for had their own wrecker and the driver gave all of us drivers alot of credit for where and to the spots that we delivered too.
Ron you make being the man look easy! Good work boss man
Another great rescue by the Ron and the Tator. They are the can do team.
Coffee and a RP video! A goodmorning from Texas! Had to chuckle, just couldn't leave without at least giving it a try!! Stay safe, God bless.
That 90 something Mack just fired up and idled nice as could be!!!!!!!!? Love those Macks!!!!! Thanks 😊
skid loader sure beats pulling cable by hand
Work smart not hard do you agree
He would of hand a heart attack if he didn't. That looks so FAR away.
@@firechaser21 Amen
@@firechaser21 Agreed.
Yeah, Mr Ron is going to get spoiled.
I kept waiting to see the Yank-em rope come out! Nice job plus the concern for the fresh crop. You are the MAN!
Dear Ron Pratt.
👍👌👏 Simply fantastic! Impressively well done. Congrats!
Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing.
Best regards luck and health to all involved people.
Post Scriptum: Your tow truck is pretty impressive too.
Good for the "Long Haul" there.. .. .. .. that cable without that skid loader would have been a "Drag." Nice job.
Great job Ron it looks hard
But then you make it easy.
First you said you had to get
Anther truck and you had the right truck all the time
Turned out to be a nice easy recovery thankfully! Only needed a tiny tug.. not like that small 16ton from a few years back that pulled the rotator backwards that Talon had called you in to help with!
That was the one where even with the wheels chocked it was sliding back right? The dumptruck in the gravel driveway
I was thinking about that one too!
You make it look too easy Ron, but that lil loader did come in handy. Thanks for the video
Love these videos. Love to see all the equipment. Love to see the carnage being cleaned up. But, most of all, love to see this man's mind work. I swear, if he could float the rotator out on the water, he could figure out how to raise the Titanic.
A little more cable and some Yank ‘ems…
Hey Ron !! On some of the other channels ,,have seen ""TATORS"" with nylon cable instead of wire !!! Have you ever thought of switching over ?? Great recovery with NO damage to anything !!! ""KEEP IT SAFE ""!!
Awesome job. You saved the mac and didnt seem to hurt the crop at all! God bless you ron and the tator
Good afternoon Ron from Roy, Nantwich UK. 🇬🇧 Thanks for showing us another interesting “rescue”..As always, you make it look easy.
You have some nice customers too.
Recently joined a local small business that is growing and a business partner owns a recovery business. He’s interested seeing the stuff they run into and see the wrecks they bring back. Love watching your videos! Keep up the great work!
I suspected you would try a rescue with the Tator before leaving to get a different truck, and I was correct. I applaud your analytical mind.
It was very kind of those folks to offer you the use of the skid steer to haul the cable, shackles and straps for you. THAT would be a long haul on foot.
Thanks for another great video.
Nice job brother! Glad you decided to give it a shot and it work. 🤜🤛
I could almost smell the clean fresh air. I love Missouri!
Roo was helping Mater the whole time. Thank goodness for long range remotes. 😃
As always Sir, you never cease to amaze us with your ability to adapt and overcome on any job. Thank you for sharing. God Bless you, your family, and your crew. 🙏🙏
Good k
As always Ron you the man take care of yourself and God bless you and your family
Awesome video's keep up the goo d work. Always waiting for the next one. Be safe and God bless everyone. 🇨🇦
Absolutely Love the "Nothing Ventured Nothing Gained Attitude" Ron...! Many folks look at a situation and come up with reasons on why they can't do something instead of what I always say & do is, let's look at it & see what we need to do to get the job done...! Great video Ron...! Perfect...!!!
Great job , always look forward to watching each week . God bless.
Customers like these are the best: admitting they've messed up, letting you decide what and how to do it and willing to help.
Probably gets them lenient invoicing. Dragging 200feet of that cable has to be taxing.
What a way to get that cable spooled up tight, Stay safe.
Love your channel love what you're doing God bless you
Good morning from Southeast South Dakota
Another fine job done by MIDWEST truck and RON PRATT keep up the good work see you in the next one!!!! Hello to all in the shop hope all is well!!!!
Lunch time with Ron as per usual!
Mack: Hey partner, can you get me out of this mess? Peterbilt: Sure thing, brother. We'll have you out in a jiffy. Nicely done, Ron.
Thanks Ron thanks tator got to love the help pulling line
Hi Ron A nice simple recovery for you, You made it look so easy, great stuff, Lovely countryside, makes a change from the busy roads, Regards welshman 2081
As always another happy customer.
Good Midday My Good Big Bro Ron Pratt Sir & God Bless You & All Of You're Whole Family & All Of You're Whole Staff & I Am Praying For The People Of This Automobile Accident
On a job like this it always helps taking your time and see what the options are. Getting stuck like that - it's way too common on a farm.
I like the customer's attitude.
Y'know, I think a military surplus wrecker would be an asset to your company.
I love the respect you show to your customers Ron an to you employees
@Kathleen Onda ,
... and also to his tools and equipment! 😊
Another good video Mr.Ron Pratt, keep 'em coming. Very interesting, as each job is different and how to solve the problem encounterd
Ron I like it that you try and figure things out always trying to please the customer I also like seeing you use the big truck.
That is a beautiful piece of property.
Love all the stuff in the trucks. Even a step stool. You get the job done.
I think it was a very wise call to try before going back for the other truck. When you said, "I hate to leave without at least giving it a try...!" I thought "Absolutely Ron!" And the way the hillside & top were mushed up by the dump truck, you might have had a hard time going up there. So you spend the time trying with the 'Tator? How much faster would it have been to switch trucks? You saved yourself and the dump truck owner a lot of time. To paraphrase Jerry Clower, "You need to respect that the brung ya." The Tator brung ya. Use it. Good video Ron!
I just had a thought. Could you pull the cable on the winches all the way out and spray paint how ever much you want to stay on the drum a bright fluorescent color so you could visually see when to stop pulling cable?
Paul; that's a good idea.
Most cable are grease try to hold rust down
Thanks again for a great video it made my day.😊 Fremont Michigan
Yesterday when i was trying to strap some pipe down on the stake bed truck. I couldn’t get the strap to go through and also over all the pipe. So i had to climb from the cab and crawl along the gates. All i could think of was you and your fold out step stool, i need to get myself one 😂
So - as well as the long arm of the Law, now there's the long reach of the Rotator!
Sheriff Tator? hehe
Terrific job as always, really nice people you have the opportunity to help out. These guys certainly made this job far easier.
One wee observation, I guess you have perhaps thought yourself also that your equipment stowage locker doors would give you far easier access if they were hinged at the top....but I guess there’s a reason they are like they are.
Enjoy every one of your videos 👍🏴
Good morning Ron from Massachusetts
Every call brings a new puzzle for Ron to figure out!
Always nice to have good customers to look after.
Thoughts & Prayers on the road and family.
Great job, no power lines or rain 👍👍👍.
Always enjoy watching your vlogs from the UK, Ron. You've got a wonderful friendly approach to your job, making the customers who are probably stressed out but make a great outcome. Keep well & stay safe.
People seem nicer in country. Your being polite is great.
God Bless You Mr Ron, I was right up the road from your shop the other night and wanted to meet you in person. Love your videos and the techniques you use. I wish I lived down there.

Love watching Ron Pratt he makes it look easy
One of those fun recoveries! Skid steer was handy! Thats one thing I liked about being with Motor Transport School at Camp Pendleton, I had students who drug my cables and brought me snatch blocks! They kept me busy!
I'm guess I'm the first one today from oxford Ms. Nobody got hurt have a bless day
Good one Ron. Thank you.
Thanks Ron,glad to see some where is getting the rain...😔here in Saskatchewan Canada need moisture bad, and then we got snow today, with freezing temperatures... Of course not expected to stay, but ... Praying for some of the other moisture please Lord 🙏🙏🙏🙂
Good day Mr Ron you are a very good leader you always take care of the environment property etc during your winching procedure good practice God bless you. Safety first Thank you Mr Ron. From Malaysia
Ron, you make it look so doggone easy! I know it's never really easy when you're dealing with that much weight, but you sure make it look easy!
It Paid Off and you were able to put both Tator and his Skid Loader to work and got him freed. 👍
It looks like Ron, that you brought the right truck to do the job.
Matt’s Off-road Recovery gets their clients to send a photo so they know what gear to take (and also to find them). Everyone has smart phones now, easy to send you a few pics.
Didn’t you hear him say that this customer wasn’t able to do so because of poor cell service in that rural area?
I think he stated they didn't have enough bandwidth to send one.
Hi John @ 0:52 Ron said they didn't have enough phone signal to send any pictures...
🐸 thank you for sharing
May God Bless
Awesome as always, I always look forward to your videos because you assess the situation taking in everything come up with a formula do the job it’s just amazing. And I find it very fascinating. Thank you for sharing.
