THE NIGHTMARE JOB!!!! ROTATOR V.S. MATERIAL HANDLER!!!@

  • Hello Ladies & Gentlemen and as always, thank you for watching!! I hope my viewers are enjoying the new 4K videos!!! Today is just one of those days.... Some jobs just want to fight you every step of the way. In this video, we definitely had a fighter.... A material handler truck was at a new construction site after some heavy rains when it became bottomed-out and buried in soft mud and clay. What at first looked like a simple job for our Peterbilt 389, Miller Industries, Century 1150R rotator, turned into a nightmare. We couldn't get off the road to get into the truck without risking sinking ourselves and we outweighed him by a lot. We are on a two lane road with no shoulder, around a blind curve on one side, and a blind hill on the other, so we try to keep traffic flowing. With no shoulder and soft ground beside the road, we have very little stability to build a decent platform for the rotator to be able to lift and winch off the side. Has the Rotator met its match on this job or will "closure be the ONLY option"??? Watch as Ethan, Gavon, and I battle this behemoth in a giant game of tug-of-war. I hope you all enjoy this video!!! Thanks for watching and God bless!!!

I thought you might like to know: I do watch all of your videos as soon as they post completely to the end no matter how long they are. But sometimes I have to record the time-stamp location in notepad and resume later in the day or after sleep on long ones. But your longer videos do get watched completely. I just wanted to say: Thank you for sharing this with us and taking the time involved in the (I'm sure lengthy) upload process and all the long editing for this.

I work 4 days at ten hours each, except in mid spring through to early fall, where those days and hours are five ten hour days, depending on workload, used to it now, but it wasn’t easy in the beginning….took me about two weeks to get use to getting up at 4:30am to start at 6am.

I drove these drywall trucks for years! If they had put there outriggers down and turned the air pressure up in the tag axle they could have raised the whole truck up and stacked stuff under the front tires and the back axles! It would’ve probably came out on it’s own or at least not have been such a hard pull for Ron! I’ve literally got myself unstuck probably 20-30 times over the yrs! But I was the best that ever got a truck stuck when I first started driving! Lol

You might want to consider using excavator pads for this kind of recovery. They'll do the sinking into the mud and leave your wreckers/rotator high and dry. You can get them in any length. They work real well.

I have driven a truck with a similar axle set up to the truck you pulled out... whenever you get into a situation where the non powered axle will take the powered axles off the ground you're done, because there is no way to move at that point... between the soft ground and rear lift axle, the driver was in a difficult to impossible situation at best... all the makings of a bad day.... another great assist!

Actually the pink hard hat is normally used to indicate a new worker who’s in training or similar but he liked it so is keeping it even though he now could have the standard yellow one. I don’t believe there’s ever been any connection with pink for that cause with hard hats as worn by males.
There’s different colors for different types/professions of workers so they can be identified on job site.

Get some 2x12x 8’ boards on your truck and you can slide the DOT bumper on those to keep them from digging. I’ve done that before and it worked on my flatbed trailer. I did have to stack them 2 high tho. Fortunately I had them as dunnage.

many years ago, back in the 80's, I was stuck in a truck stop that had a dirt parking lot in Tulsa, OK., with a flatbed loaded with 45,000 lbs. of steel coils. We had a wild night of tornadoes & thunderstorms with lots of rain. Once the rain started, I tried to move to solid ground, but got stuck behind other trucks that were packing in off the highway because of the weather. I ended up buried in mud & storm run off in the back of the truck stop with about 30 other trucks. Nothing we could do until morning as I was blocked in. One by one trucks were getting winched out by the heavy wrecker service that showed up. Each driver had to hook his own truck up because the tow operator did not want to get muddy. He wasn't having no part of it. The first time ever at about 29 years old I had to drag a winch line. Oh my God. I still remember that pain today.

As Always Safety First and This Recovery Seems Harder than your Normal Wrecks.

As someone who has operated a quad-axle boom (ABL) truck, I would've never gone in there with it! Glad there was no damage and Ron was able to get him out :)

Ron, great recovery. Thank you for taking us along.
I know I've mentioned this on a few vids before, but it really concerned me to see Gavin standing where he was when you connected the line to the front and started to spin the truck around toward the road. From my watching perspective he was 1/2 way between the 2 trucks and within about 15 ft of the line. If that cable had let loose unexpectedly....
I shudder to think what could have happened.
I know you know about these things and I'm sincerely not trying to tell you how to do your job, but I've seen the injuries and fatalities that can happen when wire cables let loose. I hope you'll go back and look at that part of the video. If I'm wrong, please let me know.
There's alot going on at most scenes and I know you can't be everywhere watching everything, but Gavin is a young man, gaining experience, and with a long life ahead of him hopefully.
    Best wishes!

Most people under estimate the suction/sticking power that mud has 🥴🙏👍🌻.
I like these kind of if videos .
