    I don't know if this has already been done but , How about putting some table cloth on the inside of the table runners, so when you pot a ball you don't hear the wooden sound as the ball rolls back to be set up? Just a thought , nice and quiet.

      I was thinking of doing that myself. My table seems really noisy.

      We used to have leather, basket-like pockets here in the Philippines in the hey days of Efren's prime (1990s). We used to think tables with plastic buckets were of lower tier

    This is really interesting content, Karl! This is what I do for a living here in Canada. Cool to see an English Pool table get covered. We don't work with much 1 piece slate (unless we're doing bar boxes) so I learned some stuff! Love the channel my man

    So we are putting a pool table in our bar. I'm going with the Shark Grey (not my decision but the GFs), on a black Valley table. What did you use to drawn the head string in white (I think you guys call it the baulk line)? Thanks!

    Should the baulk line be at 1/5 of the length of the playing area, about 14.5 inches.

    Karl any recommendations for 6 or 7 foot budget tables for a recreational player that isn’t looking to break the bank. I know there are some terrible brands out there and the cloth feels terrible. Any introductory tables you recommend ?

      I would always say NINEBALL is more difficult because there is so many more difficult skills in NINEBALL, also people don’t realise how big the table and balls are that’s makes the game difficult too

    Hi Karl, I had a pool league friend who had a business servicing pool tables. I would assist him on big jobs. I managed to learn a lot about pool tables and it was a fun part-time gig. I would like to ask a favor from you. Could you please use a mic? I have to turn the volume way up to hear, but your beeping comes across exceedingly loud. Thank you for the great content.

    You single-handedly are going to make everyone switch from green or tournament blue to shark grey cloth! (I still prefer the blue...)
    P.S. An American bar table is 7x3.5 not 7x4 (the ratio of all pool tables is 2:1 btw)

    Tell your boss she can keep the grey table cloth, but we want the traditional ball colors back. Orange 5 ball, Orange 13 ball, Purple 4 ball, purple 12 ball. Thanks, much appreciated! There's no reason to change the ball colors. Especially with all the thought that went into the original colors. 1,2,3 are primary colors, all the odd balls are warm colors, all the even balls are cool colors. The other balls are combinations of the primary colors. yellow and blue = green, yellow and red = orange, blue and red = purple and mixing all the primary colors gives you brown. And black is the neutral ball for both sides. And the cue ball is no color (white). All the stripes are the same colors as the balls 8 balls lower. 9-1=8, 10-2=8. Then someone comes along with total disregard of the traditional ball colors, has no understanding of the pattern, randomly picks new colors? Why?

    • @ChrisG0
      @ChrisG0 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Whatever happened to the pink four, all that seemed to solve the problem but yeah I can't change the orange and reuse the purple.

    Shitty green for modern grey? I'll have you know that "shitty green" has been fashionable in pool, billiards, snooker, bar billiards for many many years before some idiots decided to change colour... how would you like it if the self same people thought it would be a good idea to change the colour and feel of grey grass (real or artificial) on all football pitches? You know, to move with the times... absolutely ridiculous.. if its not broken, don't fix it.. game has got too easy now, bigger pockets, faster cloth, easier rules and it is STILL boring to watch!!
    I'm an ex pool player, played league pool for 40 years and honestly think a lot of the changes are totally unnecessary!!

    • @MickBartonPoolPlayer
      @MickBartonPoolPlayer 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Original tables were blue. For a century. Turned green because it was cheaper to produce. Original tables also had wooden rails a long time ago. No rubber. I’m glad they changed that. Lol.

    • @spaceyycs2
      @spaceyycs2 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      bigger pockets? wdym... pocket sizes have been reduced alot lol back when you played league you were playing on buckets i bet, now most pro tables are like 4in 4 1/4 or 4 1/2. Theres always been different color felt, advances must happen for a sport to grow, we dont need boomers trying to keep it a game that you play in a bar while smoking and drinking.

    • @lfcmonkeyyyman6229
      @lfcmonkeyyyman6229 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@spaceyycs2 I can see how big the sport is by the huge crowd of around 30 sometimes 40 people.. and when pool streams on TH-cam, viewing numbers often reach as high as 50!! As for the "boomers" in the pubs, nearly all of the players on the pro circuit were once playing in a boomers league. Pub pool , back in the day before pubs were closing down week by week, was huge, 1 or 2 nights a week, 12 or 15 players drinking and keeping the pubs alive was the norm. Its a game that anyone can play, don't have to be particularly good to enjoy it, which is far more important than around 100 elite players, playing on easier tables , with easier rules. Pockets on the tables on TV are definitely bigger than tables I've played on in the league. Rail shots at pace are successful quite a lot on today's tables, whereas it was almost impossible on the tougher table. World rules were tougher to play than today's easier rules. You hardly ever see a long tactical frame today, which is needed for enjoyment, rather than the boring break and dish, break and dish, golden break nonsense.. How the fook can a game be won by a lucky break? Crazy!
