    LisaR: After bumping into to your channel a few days ago - I binge watched & subscribed ! I really enjoy your chats &projects shared . You're just the perfect kind of teacher for me . The explanations you give, along with well paced demonstration make it easy to understand everything you're doing & love that you give a clear " why" .I've been knitting a long time but I'm rusty in some areas after being involved with so many crafty adventures. I'm going over to sign up for your class in raglan fitting if that's going ahead ( hopefully;) Ps I hold my needles just as you do and yes - it solved my ladders also !

      Can I use 9inch circulars too?

    • @NerdyKnitting
      @NerdyKnitting  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes - after you have enough stitches to comfortably start the toe (you may have to start on DPNs or Magic Loop first). The pattern is written as if you're using DPNs but you can certainly use other needle configurations - as long as you are comfortable 'translating' the instructions to that needle configuration.

    Its very clear and easy to follow along, and I am learning a lot of new things with this pattern. But this is my forth or fifth attempt at just one sock, and I'm still trying to get it down. And I'm gonna keep trying until I get it!

      You'll get it! Sometimes you have to do things a few times before it clicks (I think I knit three pairs of socks before I had a pair that fit!).

      @@NerdyKnitting Thank you! I'll get it at some point.

      @@NerdyKnitting Bit of an update; I'm now working on the cuff of my first sock! And it fits! I did change the cast on to a pinhole cast on, because I found that to be easier after multiple attempts, but otherwise....I'm gonna have a full sock in a couple hours. Then to make a second hahah Its a lot more difficult then the cuff down socks I'm used to making, but I feel like making the heel is easier cause you don't have to pick up stiches with this. Thank you for the encouragement on making this sock, I really appreciate it! I can't tell you how many times I rewatched this video in sections, and will have to for the second sock, but it really helped me to figure out what I'm doing.

    Great tutorial. That beginning toe does seem fiddly, but I like the look. I have to try it.

    • @NerdyKnitting
      @NerdyKnitting  ปีที่แล้ว

      It is fiddly - but that really can't be helped when you're starting with just a few stitches. But it's great once you get about five or six stitches on each needle!

    I know this is for dpn, but is it possible to replicate this pattern on magic loop?

    • @NerdyKnitting
      @NerdyKnitting  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes - you could use the pattern with any needle configuration. It's just written with DPNs in mind specifically. As long as you are comfortable 'translating' the instructions to Magic Loop you should be fine.

      @@NerdyKnitting Just curious: do you think you may come out with an ML version of this pattern? I did buy the current DPN version and will give 'translating' a go once I have my head around what you are doing a bit more. I started a toe-up sock but stopped right before the heel as I came to realize I really prefer the fit of a heel flap and gusset. Rather than rip out the toe and foot, I was thankful to have found your toe-up pattern and tutorial; I felt saved! LOL So, I'm hoping to jump into your pattern at the appropriate point to begin the gusset. I'm working with a 64-stitch circumference.

      I'm not planning to rework this pattern with ML but I do have other pattern tutorials available - toniaknits.com/patterns/pattern-tutorials/
