Phase Change Material (PCM) Heat Sinks: Fundamentals of Operation and Real World Applications

Phase Change Material (PCM) Heat sinks provide significant temporary thermal energy storage in an increasing number of military and commercial applications. PCM essentially takes benefits from the latent heat required for the solid-to-liquid and liquid-to-gas phase transitions. When properly engineered for power and mission duration, PCM solutions can be used as passive, lightweight, reliable backups or standalone heat sinks. This presentation will provide engineers with an understanding of the fundamental design requirements for PCM Heat Sinks. In addition, some real world PCM applications will be discussed, with powers ranging from milli-Watt to Mega-Watt in power.

Hi there, thanks for the very informative presentation guys..
At this time, I am working on my final year (fyp) on how to implement the benefits of PCM to cool down the CPU. I understand from the presentation that unfortunately we can't do that as the load type on CPU is not pulse mode (ON/OFF) like On-chip and DEW. Alaaaaaaaaaaas...
However, there is always a solution. I will keep looking. If there is any thing you guys have to help me please tell me.
