Thanks for sharing your experience...I'm glad to know how things are progressing especially since I had been considering an Airstream. I highly recommend a legal firm called Taylor & Hodges. They specialize in the lemon law and if Airstream isn't going to make it right voluntarily, they may need to be forced to make it right. This legal firm helped us many years ago when we had a Ford that was a lemon...in the shop multiple times for major issues and was dangerous to drive. It caught on fire on the busy 405 freeway with a child in the car. We drove it for 3 years and got most of our money back. I hope you post more videos on how things are going.
So, since this posting have you heard back from Airstream? Ive been considering to get either the International or Flying Cloud. How they rectify this says a lot about the company. Do they care about their reputation or are they just interested in selling units? What dealership serciced your unit. Sounds like they are a major part of the problem.
This is sad and not right. . .My spouse and I are near 60 years old and want to travel small like you two are in our retirement. We considered an airstream bambi, but I am rethinking this idea now. You two are young and you WILL recover eventually. Nothing should die in a camper. Good luck and best wishes :)
Sorry for your luck..but you do need to learn to fix some things....the leaks happen in trailers..sometimes you hit a bump when driving and loosen a hose that causes a leak..this is not Airstreams fault. I do hope they fix everything for you..maybe you need to talk with the mechanic and ask what to look for if the propane alarm goes off or water starts leaking..etc so you can try to fix it and still enjoy your trip.
Euhm NO! That's just poor craftsmanship. Hoses must be able to sustain bumps and vibrations. That's going to happen when towed. Especially for that price. I was in Europe: the craftsmanship there on trailers and caravans is much, much, much better. How come they can do it, and Airstream not?
Let me put it in perspective. You buy a new car off the lot let's just say a Subaru. You drive it and hit a pebble in the driveway and your gas line starts leaking. Or your car starts leaking water whenever it rains or your reverse cam breaks or your door latch breaks. Or whatever you bought a new car not a used one so yeah I'm sure you'll be mad af.
First thank you for this information. My wife and I really like the airstreams and want to consider it for our purchase. BUT, for the steep price point of these trailers, Airstream really needs to slow production and re-evaluate their quality (or lack of) control on EACH unit that leaves their plant. I just signed up over on the Air Forums to get information and an idea of customer satisfaction and issues (we like the basecamp 20x or FC23). Wow, was amazed of the many others calling out issues with their new trailers. Disappointed in hearing this.
I feel you guys. I actually left a comment on your other video "5 things hate...", after seeing this video, no way am I buying that Airstream. Seems after seeing many other reviews on airstream trailers, they are plagued with problems, and being so expensive, that sucks too much. Seems quality in the last few years has gotten really awful, because older airtsreams had less issues. Thanks for posting this, helped me to decide NO AIRSTREAM for me 😎
I saw your other video and thought it, but didn't write it, but I feel compelled to now. ANY RV is going to have its issues and if you aren't handy with basic repairs, then buying an RV is a really bad decision to make. The things you are describing aren't that big of a deal to find and repair on your own. If you rely on dealerships or the manufacturer to fix basic things then you are going to be very disappointed in owning any RV. Airstreams quality is better than most.....if you don't believe me, just do your research on the other manufacturers and you'll see in the real world what happens with lesser priced RVs that are made in a very fast production facility.
I recommend a Trip to Jackson Center, have the factory service department take care of your problems. My 2017 Flying Cloud has been serviced there twice for routine service and some upgrades, and they took care of our Airstream service needs. Your Carvel has some obvious plumbing water leaks and propane leaks that need to taken care of.
First off I'm so sorry for the loss of your hamster! We had ours (Mario) for 3 years and it was part of our family. This video is so disappointing, because we have been looking to get the same model. I hope all your problems get resolved and you are able to enjoy it for many years to come.
Don’t let this video discourage you from Airstream. Airstream backs up it’s name with service. There are tons of satisfied customers. They been around for 90 years. Seems like maybe these retired” 25 year olds wants free stuff.
I think you’re speaking on behalf of Airstream past...Airstream has had numerous quality control issues over the past couple of years. Look in to it. Airstream is trying to deflect these shortfalls and squeeze what they can out of a once great legacy. Seen this happen with manufactures across many different brands.
@@teejay9483 More durable huh? As this and many other videos and blogs have shown throughout recent years? Like I said - Airstream is just like every other manufacturer, living off a legacy and NOT quality control. Corners are cut and time is saved. It’s not worth owning an RV unless you’re going to learn to fix those type of things on your own. Just pull up the cushions and find the leak. Propane would be leaking from connection at the stove or heater, easy to find and fix.
When something is still under warranty at the cost these things cost, then the company should repair it. It doesn’t matter the item. One of the reason airstream keeps a high value is their warranty. This is not people being over their heads. That’s like saying you should repair your brand new car when something breaks. So your seatbelt and airbag breaks, you’re fixing it? GTFOH
@@BuckleBunny I absolutely fix things on my brand new truck when it’s easier to do it yourself then to sit at the dealership for half a day. Any update? I see this was posted 7 months ago. Thanks for sharing, hope they are working with you to make it right. It is definitely giving us pause and something to consider when deciding!
Why did you stay in the camper Long enough to get sick and go to the hospital when the propane leak detection alarm was going off? As far as your other problems are very common in the RV business so you just have to deal with can’t give it back if there’s no lemon laws for these RVs sorry buddy
Our Bambi is over 20 years old. We bought it a few months old in 1999. Only issue we’ve had since we bought it was the water pump leaking similar to the one in this video. Nothing else has ever broken to date. Quality is down because greed for profits is out of control as they rush these Airstreams out as quickly as possible. We have a friend that bought the 30’ classic in 2019 and is selling it due to all the problems. Imagine buying a car for $55,000 or over $110,000 and reading a commenter say they all have problems
My brother-in-law has an old Airstream he purchased used and basically rebuilt. Rivets coming loose, missing, etc., are a constant for him but he took some classes during various Airstream rallies so he's confident he can work on most issues while on the road. I watched another video not long ago with a family towing an Airstream. Brand new, first trip, double digit rivets popped, part of the dinette pulled away from the way, bathroom cabinet fell off, you name it. I think his video noted 10-major things that Airstream needed to fix. As noted below, simply because you are paying a ton of money for a trailer doesn't mean you are getting quality. If you want to pull something small, check out the nuCamp t@b 400. Unlike your Airstream, the 400 has a separate bedroom/dinette area and I think the 2021's start around $43k where the 2021 aravel 16rb starts at $70k. Insane money
Thank you for making this video & I'm so sorry for you two & your countless issues. Truthfully, I found you through research on airstream - because we were considering one...but not now! Thanks for the heads up. I wish you well & pray they make it right for you... what a disgrace. Sorry about your youyour lil hamster too.😔
So sorry about your experience and health hazards, seems like they are too busy selling and not enough staff for customer service (this comes from personal experience with my bambi 16ft and now my serenity 23ft.). good luck and hope it all works out.
You pay a premium for an Airstream and you expect to get a superior product and service. I guess not. Thanks for posting this and I hope Airstream takes care of you and you post a follow-up. Otherwise, Airstream is going to deservedly lose a lot of sales.
OMG. This is so disappointing. We have a Bambi 20 and we’ve had a couple of issues but nothing like this. The fact that you lost your hamster is the bad but Diana being pregnant again s even worse. Call airstream mfg and talk to them about this because maybe your dealer doesn’t know what they’re doing. I wish you all the best and hope this turns out great. We hope good blessings follow you.
The corner water leak you just filmed also happened to us with our 2019 Bambi 16RB. Airstream's service center in Jackson Center, OH diagnosed it as the water pump's small, round pre-filter's mesh screen (see, the clear / see-through bubble cap next to the water pump in the box under your road-side dinette cushion) being coated in "lime scale" after one summer season. They said that in addition to using a quality water filter, you must clean the pre-filter screen yourself a couple times a year as preventative maintenance using CLR or the like. (We were never told about this during orientation, however.) The leak from under that corner of the dinette bench has stopped for now, and we will clean it out regularly.
Thanks for sharing this information! We get our Airstream in a few weeks and I’m learning what and what not to do. I want to reach through my screen and fix their bathroom roller shade. I think it’s just like the household roller shades. There is definitely a need to be proactive and handy with fixing things to minimize further damage.
What is the dry weight of your 2020? I am getting different sources either saying it’s 3200 lbs or 3500. I understand that the 2022 version is 3500. Why the weight gain? Thanks!
So sorry to hear that you're still having issues with your Airstream trailer. And sorry to hear about your hamster's death. That's so sad. (We're hamster lovers. Since my wife has allergies to all other furry animals, any hamster that has lived in our house has been the luckiest hamster on the planet!) By now (6 months after you posted this video) I sure hope Airstream has made things right with you. Thanks for posting.
Real sorry to hear about this....want to help....suggestions, perhaps you have done these things, if not....contact the attorney general/consumer affairs office in the state where you bought it, let the dealer know you made this video, get a legal consultation from an attorney in the state where you bought it to see what the options are, contact the finance company to see if there are options. Sadly you may be stuck, hope not, you are both good, enthusiastic, people. Keep posting, there is an old saying “the squeaky wheel gets the grease”!
@Hynea Driving these things around is like a continuous earthquake. The best campers don't have do dads. There is a couple I follow who live full time in a 1988 13ft Scamp. They have remodeled the inside twice I think. The first things they ditched was the propane cooker, sink and bathroom. They live totally off grid with solar panels and a mini wood stove.
Wow not good. We had an airstream for 8 years...no major issues...loved it....in saying that i would be flipping out if i we re you and driving it to Jackson Centre Ohio to get if fixed properly or for them to give u a new one......I wouldn’t be using the dealership that failed u in ur last repairs.....
Seems like you are getting the run around. But, in reality, you will have to learn how everything works, where the lines run and be able to do a lot of your own repairs. It will keep you on the road. That gas leak is serious business. It is disappointing for sure.
Here's a secret, they're almost all lemons now. There has been such a consolidation in the industry, with just a few companies buying and holding much of their competition. And those few companies have reached common conclusions regarding what is the best quality/price point equation for maximizing their profits and growing their market share. And that equation does not tend to involve a serious effort at CQI. It's more of a throw it together fast, make it look shiny, get it into the customer's hands, and deal with the repercussions later. The same mentality seems to pervade many of the companies that manufacture the accessories for RVs. There are some exceptions , of course, but on the whole much of the industry should be ashamed of itself. Sorry you guys have had to bear this burden, especially the loss of your hamster...pets are family members! try to stay positive!
First in for most. Thank you for your videos thank you for the special bond that you both have and the love that you share. Amen. I was thinking about purchasing one of these and driving to Montana and throughout the country. What are you doing as of the end of March . What has happened since January were you able to return it.? Everything happens for a reason. You will learn and grow from this and you have already. Thank you respond when you can🙏🏼🌞🇺🇸
Sad but good video. If I were you, without a doubt, I'd be taking a road trip to the Ohio Factory. Seems like RV Dealers aren't any better than Car Dealer's. There are those that will bend over backwards to do the right thing and others who forget who you are once you hand them the check. You need to let the Dealer know you're going to go public with their info and do your best to put them out of business. And I have been seriously considering the BaseCamp 20X.
That is crazy! I’m so sorry for you guys. I’m sorry the hamster died but your wife is pregnant and you have a dog!!!!! I hope Airstream makes this right but I doubt they will just allow you to return it. Good bless you and best of luck! 🙏🙏🙏
I'm glad I saw this. Looking to purchase a trailer and Airstream was on the top of the list. Please post a video of what happened! Did customer service take care of you? Or are t=you out of luck because I will not buy if they don't take care of these issues and/or refund you.
Haven’t decided if I want to subscribe yet. Like others have said the content around the Airstream was what drew me in, but many videos are off that topic now. Channel needs to focus on that to build subscriber base...then you can add in other content. If content is not focused people won’t subscribe. Also, watched the video about answering subscriber questions. Interesting answer on why you got the Porsche. I do think the Tacoma was a bad choice for a tow vehicle especially since it had a 4 cylinder. Plus you needed a weight distribution hitch. The tongue weight of the RV plus whatever you may have loaded in the bed made your front end too light and therefore induced the swaying. The Porsche will do better, but I would have opted for a full size Truck like a Ram Rebel with tow package. Porsche is nice, but it seems you guys got here by saving money and being smart with expenses. The Porsche cost to own is going to put a dent in your budget, but it looks like you guys have good positive cash flow so go ahead and enjoy. I plan to tow a Caravel 22FB with a BMW hopefully later this year when I can get ahold of one.
You didn’t mention you put that heavy bike rack on the back that Airstream says not to do because it flexes the frame and trailer and that might be causing the leaks. Repairing the leaks you mentioned is no big deal. I think you are trying to run a con on Airstream because you are not happy with the repairs after you wrecked it.
It would worth your $ to buy a trailer if you have time go camping at least once a month for the next 10 years! Rental fee cost about $200/night. Says you go camping 3 days every month. That’s $600/months = $7,200/year. You do not need to worry about maintenance, repairs, registration fee, insurance etc.
Wow that's really messed up I hope things get better for y'all if they don't fix all the problems that you're having with indefinitely trade that thing in either get your money back or just go to a completely different brand
YOU killed the hampster. You said it yourself the alarm went off several times. If your smoke detector went off several times, do you roll over and go back to sleep? Grow a brain.
Damn. Would they take it back? Look at the geopro or no boundaries trailers. I’m super interested in those since they seem to be the higher quality light weight trailers that are readily available right now. I have Jeep Grand Cherokee and have limited selection on what I can tow.
I keep warning people that all trailers do this unless you keep them parked in one spot and never bounce them down the road. Problem is fiberglass shell campers are worse because they deteriorate just sitting still in the sun.
That's a shame, but we can't generalize, we have a 2016-Bambi 16' without a problem and we love it. Sounds like you have been having a hard time with this unit. Is there a Better Business Bureau in the US? Maybe we should consider having some legal against the dealer or airstream. For the price of an Airstream, it should be much better.
Euhm NO. I was in Europe; craftsmanship in USA compared to European trailers/RV'S/caravans; not even in the same ballpark. Over there: the vehicles are tested to sustain rattles, bumps and inconsistenties. Even though they have better roads. I was on a factory tour there; the suspensions and completed vehicles are tested there in the factory; to test the parts itself, later to test the mounted part on the vehicle, and then again tested in real life. Suspensions, gas pipes, rubbers, all is tested in extreme weather conditions. And their use of space and creativity is also on a much higher level. So, this RV, is just the fault of Airstream delivering poor quality and to few quality checks.
Refund? That's not gonna happen. But they do have one of the best warranties for travel trailers. You need a set of tools and then watch some how to videos. You would be amazed at how easy some of these fixes are.
As far as I can tell this is the second video you have posted regarding your problems with the airstream. But you don't seem to want to post as to what happened when you returned it for repair. BTW, good luck in getting a refund, because you bought "a lemon," I do not think that law applies to RV's.
Been trying to talk my daughter out of buying an airstream because of all the issues I am hearing about their poor quality now. Will send them this video and hope it convinces them to consider another product. Thanks
wow ! Im very surprised Airstream has a good name the past and is top of the line this never should happen something that cost over $56k , that is the reason why you buy a Porsche or Mercedes you buying quality , Im in the market for a Airstream but now im thinking twice . thank you for the information and make then give you a new one .
Sorry for your issues , not that surprised, I used to sell American made cars but after so many complaints I started selling Toyota’s ,big difference there was a time when made in America was buying quality , that was a long time ago, today it’s the bottom line what’s important, today buying cheap and buying American made is the same . Now you know why everything is made in China , either way it’s the same junk made in a different place of manufacture. Good luck. Your not the first person I see in you tube complaining about airstream, and I was actually thinking of buying one .
Lawyer, Lawyer, Lawyer, Lawyer will get things done ✔ 👌 .... SAD, to say it, but, it's the truth...3 months 😢 NO!!! BEST WISHES 👌 👍 Hope thing's get done very quickly... The man that's trying to build-up my credit score from Indianapolis 🇺🇲
LP leak, ER, and now a dead hamster? And they failed to fix this dangerous problem after keeping it for 3 mo? Look, nothing is worth risking your health. I'd leave the RV at the dealer, demand money back, and retain a lawyer if they refuse. I'm in the market and I'm crossing Airstream off my list.
That sucks. I just bought a slightly used 2020 AS Globetrotter 27 and so far just a few small issues but who knows what will happen on our first big trip. I hope you can get some satisfaction! This should not be happening!! I feel terrible for you guys and your lost pet.
WOW! $56,000 plus you end up in the ER. I’d be so pissed. Wait I am pissed. I financed my mallard for $27,000 and I have fixed and replaced so much and I have a long ways to go. I am on the fence about just letting it go and take the hit on my credit. I’ve already intentionally missed 3 payments. When the bank called to ask about the payments that I missed I told them I spent it on fixing the brand new trailer. Good luck to you
99.9% of what your complaining about sounds do be due to your own lack of knowledge. If the pumps leaking, open the bench and look at it, likely its a loose fitting, tighten it. If your showers leaking, your probably not level. If you CO alarm is going off you probably don't have the fan running. Also, if your CO is going off, get out of the camper. I am sorry but it just seems like nothing here is really airstreams fault but your own issue of just not being handy. You need to be handy if your going to RV especially full time. Its bouncing around at 55 mph on average, your house does not so obviously things will break or come loose.
So follow the plumbing and find the leak. You aren't handicapped. Likely easily fixed. And use your window cleaner to check the gas fittings. Need to do that regularly anyway.
Thank you for the info. I love watching your tours and places that you have gone. I am disappointed at airstream that they would put out such garbage for all of that money. I am grateful for your review.
Bodyguard 58 got it right all rv’s are rolling piles of junk it’s best and less expensive just to build your own that way you know what you have sorry about your little hampster pet I wish you luck

Sorry about your youyour lil hamster too.😔
Has airstream offered to replace the trailer?
Airstream was bought out by a big corporation, now their pushing out junk. Remember when AMF bought Harley and it turned into complete trash.
So sorry about your experience and health hazards, seems like they are too busy selling and not enough staff for customer service (this comes from personal experience with my bambi 16ft and now my serenity 23ft.). good luck and hope it all works out.
What was the final outcome?
Thanks!
I was told by others that the quality of air is not what it used to be
So sorry to hear that you're still having issues with your Airstream trailer.
Hey i paid 500 k for my a class and had problems Welcome to the club
They just bought a lemon 🍋.
Thank you
respond when you can🙏🏼🌞🇺🇸
Cross airstream off my list , for my new trailer. Great info.
So did Airstream make it right?
I'm glad I saw this. Looking to purchase a trailer and Airstream was on the top of the list. Please post a video of what happened! Did customer service take care of you? Or are t=you out of luck because I will not buy if they don't take care of these issues and/or refund you.
Please keep us informed on what airstream does! I’ve been thinking of getting 1 like u but now not so sure if they do u wrong!!!
It's like any company they treat you right until they sell you.
What Dealership, so I know not to go to when I'm ready to buy.
I plan to tow a Caravel 22FB with a BMW hopefully later this year when I can get ahold of one.
dollaride thanks for your opinion! If you don't subscribe, at least follow us on IG. And you are right for the most part 😄
$56,000???? They got you! That’s crazy expensive.
Update?
Thanks for sharing. This video is a public service to all. 😯
This is horrible, I’m so sorry you went through this. It only proves the quality of airstream has gone down.
YOU killed the hampster.
You said it yourself the alarm went off several times.
If your smoke detector went off several times, do you roll over and go back to sleep?
Grow a brain.
already slept idiota!
look on why they got to ER
I am also under a lot of stress due to the base camp leak.
Sorry to hear that guys, god bless you both.
This is life and death with the propane leak
I guess airstream is off my list. Thanks for the information. Sad, I’m a hamster lover too.
So sorry this has happened to you guys. Unfortunately, I think this is the way that most rv's are built today. I hope they make it right for you.
What’s happening is they are making junk because they’re trying to keep up with demand and they’re rushing
As far as I can tell this is the second video you have posted regarding your problems with the airstream. But you don't seem to want to post as to what happened when you returned it for repair. BTW, good luck in getting a refund, because you bought "a lemon," I do not think that law applies to RV's.
Good luck. That must be so frustrating. I hope you can get a refund. I was considering one of these, now not so sure. 🤔
Airstream should fix everything...keep us posted.
Been trying to talk my daughter out of buying an airstream because of all the issues I am hearing about their poor quality now. Will send them this video and hope it convinces them to consider another product. Thanks
Airstreams are the best built longest lasting it’s the road vibrations that cause problems.
Pretty sure you could sell it to someone that is used to camping...
I now will never buy one of these.
Same here. I've looked at them for years in anticipation of something I might enjoy after I retire. Now I'm leaning toward a custom van build.
Hospital Stay? Lawyer Time. Sorry about your Hamster and these issues. Get a used Airstream and have it checked.
Thx for the review!
wait what killed the hamster? How did it kill the hamster
I'm sorry about the hamster. But how are you, Diana and Chicto doing? Thats not good for the baby🍼. I hope they make thus right.
Wow !..........was going to buy a new Airstream next month to travel all over North America, Guess I'll look at other options.
Thanks for the video I would never buy a airstream, sounds like too many problems. Don’t wanna take a chance
That's horrible! I'm so sorry you are dealing with this.
wow ! Im very surprised Airstream has a good name the past and is top of the line this never should happen something that cost over $56k , that is the reason why you buy a Porsche or Mercedes you buying quality , Im in the market for a Airstream but now im thinking twice . thank you for the information and make then give you a new one .
You need to call out the dealership that sold this to you
Sorry for your issues , not that surprised, I used to sell American made cars but after so many complaints I started selling Toyota’s ,big difference there was a time when made in America was buying quality , that was a long time ago, today it’s the bottom line what’s important, today buying cheap and buying American made is the same .
Good luck to you
All RV’s have problems from vibrations don’t screw up your credit over it just get more handy.
Personally, I never finance toys or depreciating assets.
Are you guys selling it? I certainly will buy it from you
Thanks, this was very helpful,
99.9% of what your complaining about sounds do be due to your own lack of knowledge.
My eyes has been on an airstream for a long time and now I'm 30/70 about it in jz 10min... 🤕..scary.
Thanks for the info btw FAM !!
YA'LL SHOULD LOOK INTO ORGONE PYRAMIDS !!
So follow the plumbing and find the leak. You aren't handicapped. Likely easily fixed. And use your window cleaner to check the gas fittings. Need to do that regularly anyway.
I was looking for an Airstream but now I don't think wanted have it 😕 , too many problems for that 2020 , no way. Good luck 👍
Thank you for the info. I love watching your tours and places that you have gone. I am disappointed at airstream that they would put out such garbage for all of that money. I am grateful for your review.
The propane leak though.
Good to know.
Keep on them, don’t give up!
Bodyguard 58 got it right all rv’s are rolling piles of junk it’s best and less expensive just to build your own that way you know what you have sorry about your little hampster pet I wish you luck
Just leave it at the dealership and don’t make payments. Sue them for the hospital bills.
